Private First Class Juan Restrepo, 20, died July 22, 2007, from wounds sustained in a clash with insurgents in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley.
Restrepo was a medic who deployed to Afghanistan with the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. He was honored in Sebastian Junger’s award-winning documentary “Restrepo.“
He is survived by his mother, Marcela; his brothers, Ivan and Pablo; and his daughter, Ariana.
