The Army Will Fund Your CrossFit Education

Soldiers, the Army is investing in your complete journey to becoming a Certified CrossFit Trainer (CF-L3).

The Army’s Credentialing Assistance program now funds your complete path to the Certified CrossFit Trainer (CCFT) credential — from the Level 1 through the Level 3. The CCFT is a professional-grade certification recognized in both military and civilian careers, and the Army is covering the full cost to get you there.

Eligible courses: Level 1, Level 2, Nutrition, Scaling, Spot the Flaw, Lesson Planning, and the Level 3 (CCFT).

The Army’s investment in your CrossFit certification has been upgraded. As of Dec. 11, 2024, Army funding now supports your full pathway to the CCFT — not just individual courses. Review the program requirements to get started on the right foot.

How It Works

  1. Pick a CrossFit course and request a quote. CrossFit will email you a quote for the cost of the course.
  2. Submit the quote to ArmyIgnitED for approval and payment. Set the goal of ‘Certified CrossFit Trainer (CCFT)’ when submitting the quote.
  3. Once approved, you’ll begin your Army-funded journey to earning one of the most respected fitness credentials in the industry.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Yes, currently the Army is the only branch of service that’s eligible to use this benefit.

  • Army IgnitED is available to enlisted noncommissioned officers and warrant officers.

  • You do not have to be a member of a CrossFit gym or have CrossFit experience to take this course, and it’s not just for CrossFit coaches or athletes.

  • Each level builds real-world capability. The CF-L1 qualifies you to start coaching CrossFit classes or begin the process to open a CrossFit affiliate. The CF-L2 prepares you to coach at a more advanced level or own an affiliate. The CF-L3 — the CCFT — is a professional-grade certification that carries weight in both your military career and your civilian future. Whether your goal is leading unit fitness, instructing, or launching a career in the fitness industry, this pathway gets you there — fully funded by the Army.
