Stimulus and Strategy:
Today, you'll take on a variation of the classic workout Elizabeth. Increase the load on the power cleans, starting with a moderate load and finishing with a heavy set of 9 — the load should require mostly singles for the second and third sets.
You must start each set of ring dips with a muscle-up, and if you break on a set, you must perform a muscle-up before continuing. Note that the ring dips will get challenging, so do not to push to failure on any set. Breaking the first set into 7/7/7 can help manage fatigue, even if it costs you an extra muscle-up or two.

20:44 at 135-165-195lbs. 7’s, 5’s, and 3’s on dips except last rep (lost count so I tried one more dip and failed) so did another muscle up. Strict ring dips except around 5 reps total. Mostly triples on 165lb cleans, and all singles at 195lb.

made this up on 8/30 at the Y after putting my son through some lifts. short on time and no rings. Intermediate plus weights (135 - 155 - 185 lbs) and parallel bar dips.
8:01.
225 lbs for 9 reps would have been too many as that is close to a 1RM. 185 for 9 was still a good challenge. The other loads I was able to string together in decent sized sets.

11:55 not Rx. The barbell was between intermediate and Rx: 135/155/185. 1 strict C2B before every set of dips. Dips Rx. Cleans were in 3s with 135, in 2s with 155, and singles with 185. Times: 2:31/3:00/2:14. Dips were 7+7+7/8+7/9 so 6 total C2Bs. Times: 1:58/1:30/0:40. I think I was too conservative with the lightest cleans but pushed it well on 185. This was a heavy barbell for me and I haven’t done dips in months so I was a bit apprehensive about this WOD. Last time the dips came up I couldn't even get my shoulders to be stable at the bottom of the dip hold. So since that WOD I started working on getting back into those holds during warm-ups and I think it showed today. Will see what the shoulders have to say about it tomorrow :)
Feelin good today!

Unbroken cleans; ring dips in batches of 3 with 5 sec break between -- until it was 2 then 1 for final 3 dips.
Think this is the most ring dips I've done in a workout. Have been doing high-rep bar dip sets 2-3x / week, which I think helped.

Dang. Wish I'd thought of that MU transition work. 155# is a lotta weight for PCs for most...way more than I can get.

Great job, Jim! I meant to do the heaviest set in pairs but technique just didn't feel like it was going to hold up for that once I got to them.
Question: does the lockout from a MU count as the first rep of dips?
