Double unders were a nice “break”. Ttb unbroken. Rested a bit extra to make sure I could hit the jerk, with a clean clean. Ran immediately after the jerk, and stayed consistent on run speed at about an 8m mile pace. Did this one fasted with minimal warmup: build up: 45x5, 115x5, 145x2, 175x2, 205x2, singles, double unders or ttb practice b4 each c and j.

We’ve never before posted comments, but Eva’s story moved us from the moment it unfolded. We are teachers, the children of teachers, and the parents of a teacher. In the garage at 92 degrees, 94% humidity, ages 59 and 57, we gutted it out. Wife Rxed in 41 min but scaled C&Js to 75 lbs. I made it through without style, but no ER visit, in 36 min with 250 SUs instead of the runs. We will repeat soon.

My thoughts were pulled towards not only Eva, but all the students that were involved. How many of them loved running as I did each 400m?
This Hero WOD felt different. This was not a person that was responsible for protecting children against an armed attacker and killed in the line of duty. This was a teacher with elementary students. We need to do better in this country. I'd love to see more than a Hero WOD in honor of Eva, but action to prevent this from happening in the future. I know asking for the country or even just the CF community to agree on gun regulations is a tall task, but I'm sure we can all agree that events like this need to stop.

Did this with Ian (17 yo). He did single-unders and 95-lb clean & jerks. Dubs were good today, had 3 unbroken sets. Toes-to-bar went well too; I did more of them as they are tougher for Ian. I remember the days when a 205 C&J was no big deal; sadly, I’m not quite where I was several years ago. 205 was all I wanted and more today. Almost missed the first round rep, did miss the first jerk attempt in round 2. Got better as it went along (which usually
means not enough warm-up).

After watching the video, decided to turn off the clock and tried to focus more on the reasoning behind todays WOD, and not let focusing on my time (or worse, comparing my times to others) distract me from remembering and honoring Eva. Considering doing this for other hero WODs as well.
RIP Eva. I hope her family can somehow heal and find peace. We need more strong women like Eva in this world.

There are no words that can explain the courage this woman had to protect the innocent lives of these young children. I am humbled and honored to be able to recognize Eva by doing this workout. She is definitely a hero among heroes!!!
Post foot surgery so I guess I'm passing on this one. If any of you folks have suggestions for someone that can't put weight on a foot, I'd love to hear it. I'm always curious about modifying workouts for those with limitations. Chair yoga it is for now.
