50-40-30-20-10 reps for time of:
AbMat sit-ups
Double-unders
Walking lunge steps
Double-unders

Post time to comments.

Stimulus and Strategy:
Today’s workout is a spin-off of the classic benchmark Annie. Be prepared for fatigued hip flexors. This may make jumping and consistent sets of double-unders more challenging. That said, consider butterflying your legs on the sit-ups to negate the hip flexors as much as possible with that movement. Aim to complete this workout in 15 minutes or less.

Scaling:
Reduce the reps of each movement. Consider 25-20-25-10-5 as a possible alternative rep scheme.

To reduce the complexity of the double-unders, consider performing 30 seconds of attempts for each set of double-unders. You might also consider performing single-unders.

In case of an injury or limitation, consider performing plank holds in place of the sit-ups. Perform each hold for the same number of seconds as there are reps in each set. For the double-unders, consider performing 10-8-6-4-2 calories on any machine available. For the walking-lunge steps, consider low box step-ups or air squats to a target.

Coaching cues:
During the double-unders, focus on keeping your elbows and your hands close to your sides to keep the rope long and avoid tripping up.

17:25 as rx’d, lots of tripping on doubles, retying each shoe, did better after I figured out how to hold the handles on the rope I was using. Used a different rope to mix things up. Didn’t go for speed on sit-ups but instead focused on range of motion and smooth tempo through unbroken sets.


Dad: 26:18 beginner scale with pvc assisted walking lunges, abmat sit-up on 12” of crash pads, counting attempts as reps on the jump rope after 15 min or so. Main difficulty there was just coordination. He actually put together 3-5 in a row several times though!



We warmed up with 3x100-120m farmers carries, with skills practice/warmup for each movement before and after each round.

53lb kbs for me and 18lbs for Dad.

Day 32. Hip flexors were already sore from 250712 so I was really feeling it during this WOD. Decided to try some DUs and walking lunge steps in the last round to further test the knees. It was ok but that was enough for today. Mobility work, a few reps of 24" step-ups, and SLIPS afterward.

uaually a little closer to the goal time then today. No much push and a case of trips on the second round of 50 DU but otherwise moved the entire time. I guess I should have done intermediate rep scheme.


Dumb question: this was 50 reps of all four movements, then 40 reps of all, etc. correct?

Always found that once a week long zone 2 (50-70 minutes easy-moderate running or rowing) did provide a huge return for even middle distance racing.


But there are diminishing returns after 1-2x a week and more isn't worth it if you're not specializing in aerobic racing events.


The classic varied (but almost all sub-20 minute, high intensity) crossfit classics are an equally important (and much more schedule-friendly) staple.
