This Hero WOD is long and grueling. Most of the exercises are approachable by all skill levels, but the total volume should be reduced for newer athletes.

Just chipped away at the volume Broke most sets into rounds of 10 with short rest. Rested a bit longer during lunges; was cautious of the lunging volume. Arms blew up fast on the PushUps after burpees; initial sets of 15 was a mistake. Probably could of ripped sets of 20 on the lunges, but I don't think I've even done more than like 60-80 lunges before. Air squats were the easiest, broke up in two smaller 4racks of 20 with short rest in between a longer rest.


Definitely a tough workout that I'm not looking forward to again.

Globo wod: If you are using a conventional treadmill use a slight incline. Subs for runs are 500m row or 27 calories echo or 30 calories assault bike, or 1k road bike/bike erg.

An honorary workout, challenging movements in two different ways (reversing the order/ladder does this... quads were limiting factor on push-ups the second time).

I'M NEW TO CROSSFIT AND WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS SCALE

AMRAP in 20 minutes of:

I'M NOT NEW TO CROSSFIT BUT MY FALL SPORTS SEASON JUST STARTED AND I WANT TO HAVE LEGS FOR PRACTICE SCALE

Don't be afraid to hit this one hard at some capacity... CrossFit gives our bodies a great ability to recover. Try this:

3 rounds of:

Run 400 meters

40 lunges

20 burpees

*rest 3 minutes between rounds


I REALLY WANT TO HONOR THIS ONE AND NOT JUST CHECK THE BOX

Don't use the 400m as a rest, go hard on it

U.S. Marine Cpl. Albert Gettings, 27, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, died on Jan. 5, 2009, while conducting counter-sniper operations in Fallujah, Iraq. Cpl. Gettings was serving as a team leader with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, at the time of his death.

Every quarter, Cpl. Gettings’ fellow Marines in Fox Company complete a special CrossFit workout in his honor as part of the Cpl. Albert P. Gettings Award ceremony.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Palimino; parents, David and Juliet; and sister, Cori.
