Deadlift 5-5-5-5-5 reps

Post loads to comments.

Scaling:
Experienced athletes should pick loads that allow for a PR attempt in the later sets. If you are not comfortable performing heavy deadlifts, add a few reps to each set and drill your mechanics, but try to expose yourself to a load that is relatively heavy for you.

I am still a bit sick from a cold but had to get out there today. 405 is my 5 rep max, 385 was difficult but doable.

Just built up to a heavy 5. Feel like my 5RM is too close to my 1RM.

Currently taking time off work and am in a lift heavy mini-block, so I haven't done much high intensity workouts.

216, 230, 242,255, 260. This corresponds to roughly 85%, 90%, 95%, 100%, 102%

. My PR was calculated at 255, so figured to make that the 4th rounds and then go up 5 for the final round

Did sets during 3 hours straight of landscaping work.

10 reps each 135-155-165-185-205-225#

5 reps 255-255#

I was thinking about Chris S’s questions and decided to do a little evaluation - is the movement the same regardless of reps and weight? I examined if there was any change at each weight from previous weights, then checked if there was any difference in the 5 rep weight from the 10 rep weights. Most reps seemed identical and my 255 felt better than 225. Not Rx today but it felt good plus all the manual labor outside in the heat added a little extra something.

What an amazing wod!

315-320-320-315-315 lb (142.5 / 145 kg) Deadstop Deadlifts.

Actually felt easy, especially compared to the recent "DL-chief" (drill sergeant). I feel like we're in the middle of a DL cycle and last month was more squat focussed.

Globo wod: If you are using iron plates today use a weight that you can bring down under control. Note that powerlifters use iron all the time, so yes you can still go heavy. If your globo hates noise from deadlifts put mats under the plates and be controlled on the descent. If you don't have a barbell today sub Smith machine rack pulls, or do dumbbell deadlifts in the same rep scheme. If the dumbbells are light consider doing single leg Romanian deadlifts 5 each leg, ascending weight. If you max the available dumbbells do AMRAP sets.

Champions Club Scaling Notes

RANT

Nothing to rant about

WORKOUT THEMES

High output followed by full recovery. Squatting with an emphasis on midline and pushing. Using stamina to challenge our strength.

SHORT MEDIUM LONG

LIGHT

MEDIUM

HEAVY x

FORMAT QUESTIONS

Is my form good enough to merit only doing 25 reps to practice?

Do I want grip to be a limiting factor?

Do I want to keep the integrity of heavy weight lifted or do I want to keep the integrity of 5 consecutive reps?

MOVEMENT QUESTIONS

Is there any difference between my 5 rep max, 1 rep max, and 17 rep max?

Do I have the flexibility to keep midline stability with my feet inside my arms or do I need to use a sumo stance?

Do I want to keep the integrity of completely unchanged midline, or do I want to allow some slop so a heavier weight gets lifted?

MY STUFF

Did a different one today, but I can assure you it was a complete box-checking effort. Next few days will be a little out of order for me.

Thanks Lincoln. Don't know what my 5 or 17 rep is either, but there are plenty of people at the Champions Club (Babies and Mrs. Gloria and some new people) who can probably only lift, say, 65 pounds at the most, but can do it like 12 times.
