2. Earning Your CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Credential
To open a CrossFit affiliate, you must first obtain your CrossFit Level 1 trainer (CF-L1) credential. This course is your foundation. It equips you with the core methodology, essential movement techniques, and coaching tools you’ll use every day. Holding a CF-L1 credential demonstrates your commitment to quality coaching and athlete safety.
Most affiliates go on to pursue higher-level training, but holding a current CF-L1 is the minimum requirement to open your gym.

You’ll receive access to our Affiliate Toolkit. Once you have obtained a Level 1 Certificate, you can then submit an application. Upon approval of your application and completion of the affiliation process, you’ll be officially listed on the Affiliate Map.
