Kristi Storoschuck, a researcher and Ph.D. candidate at Queen’s University in Canada, sits down with Michael Giardina of CrossFit Health to discuss why long-term behavior change is made easier within a CrossFit affiliate. Storoschuck explains how one of the biggest predictors of long-term weight-loss success is support. She believes education and support can have big effects on adherence and making behavior changes a new lifestyle. According to Storoschuck, the CrossFit affiliate is set up well to provide many different sources of support — coaches, peers, role models, etc. She also expresses the importance of exposing children to a healthy lifestyle early on, as it is easier to establish healthy practices at a young age versus changing behavior as an adult.
