About Ryan SO

Ryan Yeong-Ung So, 38, died June 13, 2024, while executing a warrant with the Scottsdale, Arizona, Police Department, SWAT, and special assignment unit (SAU). Born and raised in Phoenix, So served in the U.S. Navy, with the Scottsdale Police Department, as a SWAT instructor, and with the SAU. He reached the rank of detective during his law enforcement career. He was active in CrossFit, jiu-jitsu, and Ironman, and loved to backpack and go hiking. So is survived by his wife, Ashley; daughters Emerson, Stella, and Tatum; parents, Jinsoo and Sangyun So; sister, Haerina and her husband, Mark Hong; and many other family members and friends.
