Open Workout 20.1 Standards

A new meta-analysis of large observational studies suggests reducing red or processed meat intake has little to no effect on mortality. Researchers used the GRADE methodology to evaluate 61 large cohort studies assessing the relationship between red and/or processed meat intake and cardiovascular or all-cause mortality. They found the evidence supporting any association between red and/or processed meat and cardiovascular or mortality outcomes to be of a consistently low quality and suggest that if reducing red and/or processed meat has any impact on mortality, the impact is very small.

Mistakes were made. Don't do what I did and blow your load out the gate. Capped out and got a score of 134 @ Rx.

Champions Club Scaling Notes: RANT: Woof! I have not tried this one out yet, and probably won't go at it all out out of sheer fear. The thing about these two movements is they are going through the most range of motion possible (at least that I can think of) with our own body and with a bar. That means even if we are going slow(ish) we're going to feel a big cardio response due to the work being done. So that means even people going half-speed for technique will get a hard breather. We never do burpees over the bar at the gym because our floor is warped and the bars roll around all over the place. But this would be just as bad with regular burpees. I SHOULD TRY THIS AS RX'D IF: I am stuck in BPONE with Michigan Football and am looking for a permanent escape. GROUP VERSION: Hang position for most I think. Unless I want to turn a blind eye towards timing (regarding not rising up too early, pulling with charms, etc.) If that's the case, then all eyes go towards flat backs on the deadlifts. Using a small tire for burpees will help some hit the intensity there. I'd try and preserve the reps and scale range of motion before cutting them down. INJURY SCALE: Themes are: big range of motion, jumping, squatting, accuracy, overhead, pushing. Pick two things and use numbers and rounds that will make you want to stop but you'll feel guilty about it. Doesn;t necessarily have to be intensity, either. WARMUP: Box jump - clean prep Hollow hold- overhead prep Squat - hip prep Jump rope - always Handstand - overhead prep GENERAL FEAR LEVEL: 9

Chris, bar-facing burpees are so much worse. So much. I agree with 9 only b/c I'm not sure what merits a 10 anymore.

Globo scale: if you can, see if you can do this and the rest of the Open wods at an affiliate. Use map.crossfit.com to find an affiliate near you. Contact them to see when they are holding their Open workout (Friday night lights, Saturday morning, ect). Register for the Open at Games.crossfit.com until Monday at 5pst if you haven't done so. If you are filming, it is straightforward. Just make sure your camera gets everything in. Globo scale: as rxed. If using iron plates, bring the bar down with control. Note that using these may not allow a legit attempt. if you are not officially doing the Open and are on a cruise ship, hotel gym or deployed somewhere without adequate facilities but with dumbbells, sub 12 alternating dumbbell snatches 50/35lb, 10 burpees over the dumbbell.

Lot’s of mistakes! I know I could do better...now that I truly know how bad it hurts!!! 😂 Scott & Rich made it look so easy! My feet also horribly cramped up at round 2! Literally, stopped mid-WOD to kick them off! 6 rounds + 6 reps! 114 reps total! I know I can do 2 back to back rounds at 1:15 each. I have to pace a little slower & not break so much! I might get it under the time cap. Big “might!” I want no regrets so I will be doing this one again! 😉

Day late again - did yesterday around lunch. F/46/145/5’6” One caveat to this - never done gd to overheads before - so as with most of these new exercises they were slow and with thought - like pausing at the bottom to tell myself to shrug and then explode ensuring my feet actually come off the ground. 6rds in time cap - only 45lbs I’m pretty sore today so even though the load was kind of light I feel it today! Just getting older...and older, but fiercer! :) Just....keep....fighting!

M/ 45/ 135 lbs/ 5’-6”. As Rx completed in 15:26. I was surprised how the burpees got me winded and t ground to OHD was not bad at all really. I did quick singles the whole time. Bar rolling around would get me to have to stop a few times with the burpees but it was a great fun workout. Will try again later on down the line. I have been nursing an injury to my back for a couple months so almost no real loads for about 8 weeks. I was really cautious to not use my hack too much and have a tight midline throughout. It all felt good. Great mix up. Fun time in the garage on a cool dry fall afternoon.

The ground to overheads really add-up. Tried this both ways on Thursday & today (Sat). - scaled (65# ground to overhead) -> 8 rounds (144 reps) - rx -> 5 rounds + 17 (107 reps)

I also scored a DNF. Got 9 rounds + 7 G2OH (169). I really wanted to finish this and had a plan for it – but I could not keep my heart rate in check for the later rounds of burpees. Being at round 6, barely on pace to finish, and every round getting slower – not a good feeling. I went ahead and let things redline and tried to hang on, but I knew it was over at that point. Spent another 15 minutes on the ground after this, questioning my life decisions. 46m/5'10"/180
