CrossFit offers three levels of trainer certification: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3.
Level 1 Certification: Fundamentals
On completing a Level 1 CrossFit certification, attendees will have sufficient understanding of CrossFit's methods, concepts, and movements to continue independent and successful development as a CrossFit trainer or athlete.
Level 1 Certifications may be repeated as needed or desired at a reduced cost for each seminar. There is no prerequisite for the Level 1 Certification.
Level 2 Certification: Virtuosity
Our Level 2 Certifications are designed for those who are interested in advancing their training skills by demonstrating, and being evaluated on, their ability to teach CrossFit concepts and movements to others. The Level 2 Certifications include education on nutrition, programming, the movements, and teaching the movements to others. We will also cover some of the intangibles of training and the business of training.
Prerequisite: To attend a Level 2 Certification you MUST have completed the Level 1 course, and we highly recommend you have been training others using CrossFit movements and concepts for at least 6 months.
Level 2 Certifications may be repeated as needed or desired. There will be a test, and many attendees will be asked to return to Level 2 seminars multiple times before scoring high enough to qualify for Level 3.
Level 3 Certification: Mastery
To attain level 3 Certification you must demonstrate the ability to train other trainers by attending a CrossFit Level 1 Certification as an intern. It also requires in-depth study of the key components of CrossFit's programming through attending at least 5 of the following CrossFit Specialist Certifications:
- Basic Barbell with Mark Rippetoe
- Olympic Lifting with Mike Burgener
- Kettlebell Basics with Jeff Martone
- Running and Endurance with Brian MacKenzie and Mike Collins
- Gymnastics with Roger Harrell
- Nutrition with Robb Wolf
- CrossFit Kids Certification with Jeff and Mikki Martin
- Triathlon with Mike Collins
Prerequisites for Level 3 include CrossFit Level 1 and 2 Certification as well as having qualified (through your Level 2 score) to come back as an intern for a CrossFit Level 1 Certification.
Cost
The cost of certification seminars progressively decreases, regardless of level.
Your first Level 1 Certification attendance is $1000, your second is $500, and subsequent ones are $250.
The cost of Level 2 Certification is the same as Level 1. Your first Level 2 attendance is $1000, your second is $500, and subsequent ones are $250. If you do not pass the Level 2 Certification exam you can come back and try again free of charge.
The cost for Level 3 is just the price of attending each of the specialist Certifications. There is no cost for interning at a Level 1 Certification.
Please note that we will no longer be able to accommodate refunds or transfers. Please register for a certification only if you are sure you will be able to attend on that date and at that location.

This seminar, presented by Greg Glassman and one of our SOF staffers, is an ideal first step for an agency investigating CrossFit implementation; it gives a through overview of the program and its rationales and lays a foundation for additional exploration and experimentation, with minimal investment.
Private Seminars - We also offer private seminars and certifications to Mil, LEO and other organizations. Contact us for details on our One-day CrossFit seminar, which is an affordable way to introduce CrossFit to your agency or our Two-day Certification seminar.
