Pepsi Employee Caught Masquerading as Unbiased Academic, Sticks to the Act

2

Jon-Kyle Davis, a PepsiCo employee, has spent six years misrepresenting himself as an unbiased academic on the subject of hydration and other topics in papers published in the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s journals and elsewhere. Despite public correction of this error by CrossFit, Inc. and subsequent errata issued by the NSCA, Davis continues to falsely report his academic affiliation as the University of Montevallo (which he left in 2013 for PepsiCo) and has failed to disclose his significant conflict of interest. Davis’ concealment of his employment by a beverage company under the guise of unconflicted scientific inquiry follows a longstanding pattern of misconduct and concealment by PepsiCo via the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.

Unbelievable I was a student of Dr Davis during these clinical trials I participated in a few although I cannot speak of his affiliation with Pepsi at the time I can speak of his character he was a very humble, intelligent professional. He drove an older car his wife cut his hair and his clothes were neat but definitely worn. I can only hope allegations such as these don’t ruin research done by such an individual. I can say he left the university soon after the conclusion of these trials

Gregory,

An allegation is an unproven assertion. Given the evidence presented above, and the NSCA journal's corrections, the burden of proof has been more than met. As the NSCA itself admitted, "the article should have stated Dr. Davis’ affiliation as employed with the Gatorade Sports Science Institute." This applies, a fortiori, to Davis' 2019 publication. For how many more years will this PepsiCo employee present himself as an academic based on work he allegedly performed prior to 2014?
