135-145-150-155-160-160(failed at 165)-160

Tried split jerks for the first time and learned that I'm new scared to drive myself under the bar, so turns out to be half of a press at the top.

Comment #12 - Posted by: Robert - 30/m/5'10"/153# at May 8, 2014 6:09 AM

115-125-125-130-135-135
Now I see I shorted myself one rep, though I thought I'd done one extra!

Then 3x5 shoulder press at 95#
10 power cleans at 95#

Forearm tendonitis affected my lift. Not so much the clean but for some reason it affected the press. Just no confidence in my grip when going overhead.

Comment #14 - Posted by: BW at May 8, 2014 6:40 AM

D.S., good workout!

Joe, glad my workout yesterday motivated you...to crush my time! I really like that squat/press progression.

Comment #15 - Posted by: Jim R. 51/5'8"/155 at May 8, 2014 6:40 AM

Here is a TED talk about the evolution of athletes in terms of world record performances. Perfect timing for the Regionals.

Have a busy Penn St. Graduation weekend for my son. Don't know what I'll have time for. Hopefully tonight clean and jerks.
Nice job on yours!

@Joe, I think Annie might be one of my favorite girl wods. I'm nowhere near your time - I think the fastest I've done it is 8:30-ish. If you want to amp it up, try what I did a few months ago and add in burpees.

....

50-0-30-20-10 reps for time:
Double-unders
Sit ups
Burpees

Alas I can't do the barbell workouts as I'm still looking for one to add to my garage equipment...

Front squat is my limiting factor: I can easily get under the bar at 245+, and I can easily jerk 245+...I just need to work on getting out of the hole.

Still need to work on squat under the bar for the heavier weights for me.

Comment #63 - Posted by: sebastian at May 9, 2014 7:17 AM

a disappointing 165# max today. (PR - 20 lb)

2x5 @ 135#
and 3 more sets of push press @ 135#

strong mental plateau with this move. In the market for bumpers so I can start working on some of these lifts at home.

175 PR Clean, Failed Jerk

Never kept PR info for C&J, so 165 is it. I had cleaned 165 before, but not jerked. 175 is a new PR for the Clean. I KNOW I could've gotten the jerk on that one, but for some reason I get nervous doing this with black iron plates. It's like holding $90 of very breakable metal over your head and not wanting to have to drop it and spend that money. Need to get bumper plates.
