Rest in peace soldier.

Also, very cool to see Nadia's box. She led our level 1 seminar Memorial Day weekend at Rogue in Columbus Ohio last year.

I want to give credit to Mike Griffith from 2006 for this comment. I wanted to learn more about Daniel and this really hit home to me. Well said Mike and RIP Daniel-I'll give it all I have on Tues.

When I logged in today I expected to jump right in and start working on nutrition and fitness.

Then I read about Daniel; we post ideas, argue and debate methods, help each other out, but right now it seems so small and insignificant.

I do not know you Daniel, but I appreciate what you have done for me. My words don’t even express how I feel towards you.

Peace to you brother!

Griff

With heavy hearts we dedicate this workout to Army Sgt 1st Class Daniel Crabtree who was killed in Al Kut, Iraq on Thursday June 8th. To Daniel's family and friends, we express our sorrow; to his wife Kathy and daughter Mallory, we tearfully acknowledge your loss as the true cost of freedom. Fair Winds, Daniel.

To all new or relatively new to CF, take the time to click on the "compare to" link to get a sense of what CF was like in earlier days. 400+ comments, and about 90% of them are worth reading now. We're truly privileged to get to call ourselves CrossFitters

Does anyone know what has happened to the message board registration? I have had an issue I wanted to discuss for a couple of weeks, but I have never registered for the message board before. Every time I try, I get a message that registration has been disabled by the administrator. Can't raise it on the message board cause you know, "That's some catch that cath 22...."

How can i substitute 400m run on the bike?

Comment #10 - Posted by: andy at March 17, 2014 9:25 PM

@ Andy. I have no idea what the "official" sub is to a bike but I would aim for trying to burn the same amount of calories as you would on a half mile run. For me, that is probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 calories. Also, I try to shoot for roughly the same level of exertion. Effort/Time. I'm going to guess that for me that would be a pretty fast 2 mile bike ride to equal a half mile run. Maybe someone else will chime in who has really crunched those numbers a few times. HTH

Sort of off topic but my wife is really trying to figure out if there is an "official" formula for women to figure out their rx weight. How did they figure it out for 14.3? I checked all through the FAQ's and only found vague references to that other site that scales. Is there an official CF formula? Many thanks!

#47...Silas. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when looking at the numbers for 14.3. She's just trying to figure out what a good % is for ANY workout that comes up. Whether it's 14.3 or ARNIE, she wants to be able to look at the rx'd weight and say "oh, ok...so that means I should be doing THIS much".
See the confusion?

@Kevin C, Bill M - thanks! Nice effort today guys!

@Chuck B - good to see you back! (or maybe I just missed your posts?)

@Kyle - I suggest scaling her weights such that you and her finish the WOD at roughly the same time; that way you'll both get similar metabolic responses. It's no fun finishing early and watching your partner slog through single thrusters due to improper scaling!

It's good to be back working out with my CrossFit friends!

We tried a different approach here (ARG).

Couples- Do As Many Reps As Possible with a partner. If you are a newbie try this: double your reps in every station /there are 7, except in the distance. In the distance stations work with an ON/Recovery ratio- lest say you work with a 200 distance mark- pick a pace and hold that for that distance- Now do it faster- there you have ON-R-- In the stations continue until you can no longer continue with a not so sadistic behaviour as last time- Do NOT drop the empty bar- COntinue until you finish every one of the 100 plups with a partner. C2B are welcomed- Do not think of cheating your chin below paralel- Do not think of missing the thruster- just blow your chain- Please, remember to drink your milk.

Treat stations as AMRAPS, short amraps. so, In my case we did it as strict aS possible with Agustìn Gudagno, in CrossFit Underdog, Bs As, Argentina (its not Afghanistàn, but we (Argentinians) could hold your bike for some time, just to make sure that thing its still alive--- SO--- Amraps right? pick a 35`limit, that gives you like... 5 min right? - well bingo! thats what you got to finish each of the stations, once. Do not Think, just let your body flow through the 30sec dance. Remember to work with the clock. Watch it as you may and set deadlines to resume activity. Stay healthy, stay busy!- Rip Soldier.

Not sure of the actual time because I was working out with my dad and showing him how crossfit works. I looked at the stopwatch when I was done and I finished at about 16 minutes or so. My dad finished at 29 minutes.

Because I had no bar, I did jumping pull-ups on a swing set and I only had a old weight set that the weight went to 55 pounds but could have added more weight, but I left some for my dad to use, so I will not consider it in any was as RX'd.
