Joe Lengel Jr., 57, of Toledo, OH, died on November 19, 2012, of a gunshot wound sustained while opening his gym, Crossfit Intensity. Surviving Joe are his wife of 32 years, Karen; sons, Aaron (Kendra) and Matt; daughter, Mary Beth; grandchildren, Aiden, Kolbrin, Kamden, Atley, Avelyn, Koralyn, Aaron II, Layla and Reis. Joe was preceded in death by his grandson Kelan.

May be the filter, may be the ad-hoc WOD posted on an "official" rest day, but in memory of your father and your family, I will grind out 'Joe'. His legacy will obviously live on. Bless you and your entire family.

A few weeks before his death he posted this, "CrossFit is about exploring your personal potential. It’s why people climb mountains. It’s not really about the mountain. It’s about how deep you can travel into your own perceived limits. We all experience transcendence when we move beyond our previous best. I get nervous before a WOD because I know I will come face to face with my own negative internal chatter. “you can’t do it. You’re not good enough. You’re not strong enough. Etc.” I win when I try once again. I win when you win because I’m watching to celebrate your personal triumph. Only those who try get it.
It’s not about CrossFit it’s about that."

Joe is meant to take you to that place where you have to dig deep and keep moving. Grind it out as my dad would say. Thank you for sharing in it with us!

Pat and Ian were in Town (BsAs) were in town and dropped by. We did 5 rounds for time of: 400mts Run 15 Deadlifts 60k, and 15 Bent over Row. Pat came up with the workout and was as he said a smoker. you should try it if you think Rows had ceased to exist. I surelñy had forgotten them, and my upper back muscles are yelling at me to never meet again that tall stranger. Im deciding theyre nuts. It was a great woD. And it included the best ever high 5 during a wod. Ian wittenber and I were crossing during 4th round, I was gasping for air and he decided to jump and high fly, ala Brad Pitt in Troy´s first scene. It was commemorable. I never had high five like that during a Wod. I sent an email to Pat to challenge both of the to a soccer match. Ijn Argentina we have the core belief that soccer is the original footbal. In fact soccer here is called Fútbol. We believe this conjecture to be accurate since hand use is forbidden for the majority of players involved (except the goalkeeper, arquero). Please poiunt me in the right direction if you feel we are mislead. If Pat and Ian decide to join in theyll experience a great Asado and a soccer, or better Fútbol match. If they dont feel ready, we will provide tecnique instructions so they can feel better for the ride ahead. If YOU know Pat you should definetly talk him to accept the challenge. If YOU are in town (BsAs) and want to join in the asado thius Friday or in the Fútbol tecnique class and match, contact me. If you get to Buenos Aires whenever actually, contact me. we will be glad to have you training and having fun. CrossFit is the best thing that happens in my day quite often. Except for my family, friends, girlfriend and wheneber I can read something worth reading, or some movie worth seeing. Thanks CrossFit and evryone who CrossFits or spreads the word. We are an awesome community.
