I really miss the WOD demo videos. They were so inspiring. Was it just too time consuming to make them?

So Proud to be a part of this community! One of the things that attracted me to CrossFit years ago was the concept of virtuosity! So glad to see that its still being applied on a global scale! "Best trainers in the world!" So true!

@bingo, pretty good stuff. PR almost every workout I attribute it to the strength stuff I'm doing through CFFB. I've read all your stuff about CFSB and am fully on board with dedicated strength AND the WOD. Started in March, best fitness year ever...but next year will be even better :)

@Bingo, I finally caught up and read your Sunday musings. Loved 'em. I was a solo crossfitter when I started back in '07 and am still doing it solo at a local non-CF gym. This site, and the BrandX forum, are my CF community. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Anybody have any advice for what I'd say I'm 99% sure is a UCL problem? (Outside of just completely stopping). Mostly looking for stretches and exercises to rebuild the elasticity or strength in the area.

m/28/6'/190

-3mi ride to gym

-crossfit warm up

-3 rounds squatting quad and other o-lifting stretches

-5 reps dead lift 75lbs

-5 reps touch and go clean & jerk 75lbs

same sequence with 105 and 135

-5min Fran, set of 21 unbroken, was gassed after that

-10 ring muscle ups

Dennis, the idea is that you find your one rep max for each of the three lifts. You should work your way up to this value at your own pace. For most people, they will take 5 or 6 lifts of increasing weight before you actually try to beat your old one rep max.

Gavin - impressive improvement indeed!

"The CrossFit Total is the sum of the best of three attempts at the squat, the press, and the deadlift...The first attempt would be a weight you know you can do for a heavy set of three. The second attempt would be a weight you know without any doubt that you could do for a single, having just done the first attempt. And the third attempt is the weight you want to do, based on your performance on the previous two attempts."

BINGO - thank you for your Sunday musings. You are always encouraging, informative and nice. I appreciate that, especially as a "solo" crossfitter.

I think I've said this before, but Mrs. Bingo is a very blessed lady.

@Nick Dizzy, you destroyed it. Solid job. Shoulder press @ 245# is seriously world class. I've seen videos of Khalipa and Rob Orlando struggling with that weight on a strict press.

I don't have a rack or enough weight for DL max, so I did the following:

Back Squat, 95 lbs

10 - 10 - 10

Working on depth

Shoulder Press

Deadlift, 150 lbs

Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I drank the CrossFit Koolaid this weekend...Bought some Kbells, a medicine ball, and a giant rubber band to assist with pullups. Going over to Tuscumbia soon and get some Hi-Temp bumper plates. Yay me, right?

M/46/5'11"/195? Used to wrestle and powerlift. Once upon a day was a NSCA certified trainer. PT trainer for my last USAF unit, before retirement. I did Crossfit before Crossfit was cool.

I'm excited about this!

@Deidre, nice job! One thing I've learned is that the WODs here may interfere with your strength gains. You will get stronger, but maybe not at the rate you should be. It all depends what you are training for. I knew I had to get a strength base to complete WODs as Rx, so I'm moving towards it.

Interestingly, as I eliminate my main site WODs and do the CFFB WODs, my times on the girls have all gone down. That is, my metcon may not be as great as it was, but my strength gains have compensated for it. I did 3 girl workouts last Saturday and crushed PRs in all of them.

@Gavin- I've kind of been mixing it up with the WODs from the Football site and from here, which I realize is probably not the best way to go. But it's been working out okay. I felt like I wasn't getting in enough heavy lifting, and I like that we get to do it so consistently there. My goals were to hit 250 deadlifting and 225 squatting, and do five dead hang pullups, and I'm pretty much there. I guess I'll have to come up with some new ones....

In defense of Nick Dizzy, although I can hardly say whether it happened or not. It does seem plausible or at least possible.

5'7 carries 190 lbs. a lot different than say a 6' person.

Little levers help with power movements the squat and dead-lift weights don't seem all that odd to me. 245 lbs. is a lot to put overhead but doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Never done any heavy bs ass to grass so i feel I went a bit light.

Never tried more than 40 kilos in sp before, tried and failed at 60 kg this time.

Never tried more than 140 kg deadlift before because of lack of confidence in my form, but this time it felt good =)
