If I'd only known about crossfit when I was 11. Go Aidan!

running with weight at 11 ? not a very safe idea for the joints ...

Comment #3 - Posted by: vivian at October 21, 2013 11:21 PM

haha...superfist...

re: comment 2 (Vivian) I think the kid will live. I grew up sans seatbelts, bike helmets and doing stupid stuff on Big Wheels and I'm still here....I so agree w/Kizza comment 1. 3-2-1 Go Aidan

Comment #5 - Posted by: NNKMelissa at October 22, 2013 5:24 AM

what kind of shoes is Aidan wearing?

Comment #6 - Posted by: Travis at October 22, 2013 5:44 AM

Oh, @Vivian, please. Do you really think CrossFit invented running with weight at 11 years old? Let me guess, you're a long distance, unweighted runner - that'll do those joints wonders!

12 pull ups

This is a pic of my son last month. I bought him a 20lb GORUCK sandbag to use. In actuality, it's about the same weight as his backpack that he carries on and off the school bus. I figured it would be a great strength and conditioning tool for him to augment sprints, squats, cleans, etc.. He is a hockey player, and I figured this would be a great way to help him improve while off the ice.

@ Travis, he is wearing NB Minimus.

Filtered again but wanted to add Jim R you inspired me to try Fran Rx. Thanks

Comment #11 - Posted by: D.S. at October 22, 2013 6:51 AM

D.S., glad to be of service! Look forward to seeing your time. I normally did Fran w/ 85#, but could really feel the extra 10#.

I did Fran yesterday, and intended to do a 20 min AMRAP today but didn't have enough time. So I started this one and then realized I was in effect doing a modified Fran. Oh well...all is good with presses, squats, thrusters, and pull ups!

D.S., am also filtered, but glad to be of service!

WAAAAA...watch your language Pat....WAAAAA...

I wish my son was like Aidan. My son is now 19 and he isn't like Aidan. Damn impressed Mr. Joe K.

D.S. you rocque! You are my hero. I'm 49 and would LOVE to talk to you about how you manage to stay fit & un-injured at 52. I'm just an aging, average athlete too far away from a +fit gym to benefit from coaching, but I keep kidding myself I can do these elite freakin' WOD's and I hurt myself. Any encouragement out there?

Comment #16 - Posted by: NNKMelissa F/49/5'4"/125 at October 22, 2013 9:03 AM

Hmmm...bet his hockey gear weighs at least 20#. Good on ya Joe K.

Go get 'em Aidan!

My son is 8 and has been working technique and gymnastics and some weighted carries and sprints with me these last few months, not going to hurt him one bit

Comment #19 - Posted by: Travis Jewett at October 22, 2013 11:38 AM

I like the effort. I just don't like where he's carrying it, over his shoulders, on his neck. Having that on your neck, hunched over slightly like that...I just don't see how the weight plus the jarring of running can be low risk. I say get a vest to distribute the weight.

D.S. and Jim R. - thanks for the motivation
Fran 6:05.

Comment #23 - Posted by: Jim R./51/5'8"/160 at October 22, 2013 5:58 PM

@mike : i am a long distance runner sometimes, I do sprint with weights too... but I'm 38 and know myself a bit.
What I wanted to say is be careful with this, can be painful.

@NNKmelissa Did I say that this kid will not live ????????? damned, I thought my english wasn't that bad ...

Comment #24 - Posted by: vivian at October 23, 2013 3:50 AM
