Very glad they decided to keep wrestling in the Olympic Games. I'm almost 100% sure wrestling was one of the original events way back when The Games began. And if they would actually air matches during times where people are awake I'm sure the sport would be understood way more than it is now. From a Crossfit perspective, which is the same as The Olympics, is to measure every athlete's fitness, the gold medalist being the fittest/best in the world. You can measure the other two sports they were debating, but not as well as you can wrestling.

I have a question for y'all. In my little gym I am in the process of procuring multiple new items to include Olympic Bars. Currently we only have a smith machine for WODs like today. Is there any advice I can get towards maintaining proper form while doing back squats on a smith?

Many thanks - Jared

Just watched Sunday's "offline" about CF posting non-fitness related articles. I now think even more that CF should continue those posts. They sometimes make me mad, but that's ok and even a good thing. The only thing we have in common as CFers is CF; to not post items HQ thinks are important or will stimulate thought would be to weaken CF's personality and character. Keep posting CF!

My only request...get a more sophisticated filter. It does no good to invite discussion, but then have those discussions held up in the filter for hours at a time for no apparent reason.

Jim R - Believe me, I'm no fan of the filter... my results got filtered for an hour or so and I don't see why.

That being said, as a software developer, I can tell you that the filter is probably working a well as it can with the current setup. There's probably a TON of spam bots firing off comments every hour that never make it past the filter. The problem is that there's no user registration... anyone can fire off an anonymous comment, so the filters have to be especially stringent to avoid things like phishing and clickjacking. Don't be surprised if there is a website redesign in the near future that will use OAuth (i.e. logging in with your user info from Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to track user comments.

Doesn't make it any less frustrating ;)

Comment #33 - Posted by: Joe Northside m/34/70"/195 at September 10, 2013 9:41 AM

...and sometimes your post makes it through the filter, even though you're almost positive it'll get held up.

Joe Northside, I saw your comment the other day and was sure it got caught in the filter. And Bingo's musings never have any profanity or the like, yet get held up every Sunday. My only point is that since the discussion changes to a new forum every day, they need to let people discuss, or the more controversial/discussion-worthy posts are less relevant.

The best thing I had was a 100kg barbell made out of concrete. Did all 7 sets with that. 100kg is close to my 3 rep back squat anyway, so this was good.

Tight midline, going down dynamically but controlled, thinking "up" on the way down already.
