How much weight for the squats? I'm guessing 135

Comment #3 - Posted by: Rod at August 30, 2013 5:41 PM

If there is no weight associated with the exercise, it means body weight. In this case, air squats. Hope this helps.

Comment #4 - Posted by: Jason Bourne at August 30, 2013 5:44 PM

As Rx. A little heavy for my weight but scaling felt wrong.

Have been trying Crossfit for about 6 months on my own, enjoying it a lot. Wondering when the last time four days in a row workouts? Hotshots seems an excellent reason to break the usual pattern. Will be thinking of the sacrifices made when I tackle this one. I find I am usually twice as long as the slowest post, will still be only a small gesture in remembrance of these true heroes

Comment #21 - Posted by: Mike H. at August 30, 2013 9:33 PM

@ Lorraine on the left of the page, click start here, then brandx scaling. This has women's weights and general scaling for all WODs posted on the the main page. This helped me once I learned it. Women's weight is 95

Seems like a great wow, two question. Is is just power cleans so bar goes from ground to chest, and no overhead jerk? And is it Power Cleans from ground every rep or is from the hand acceptable?

I'm fairly new to crossfit and have built my backyard box for my family. We feel we can still be a part of this just as if we were in our local box. How great would it be to see everyone who did this workout today donate $19. That's a lot of people, think of how that could change the futures of all the children and help the family's of those lost.

My husband was a forest fire fighter for several years. I am grateful he is still with me today. I mourn for the friends and families affected by the deaths of these 19 men.

Me: Rx with 95 # power cleans

Those pull ups ate up a lot of my time (but I couldn't say I was especially speedy on the runs either)

Thanks to those who put themselves in danger and make the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us. Did this grueling WOD at Crossfit Takeover in Virginia Beach, VA. Good support and a good showing at the box. Is there a t-shirt for this one b/c I'd like to have some way to remember this one by other than a feeling of having not done enough.
Did 5 rounds (@135#) + 20 squats w/ a 40:00 time cap

This great WOD has inspired me to share my story to show you all how powerful this community is, and what a great help Crossfit has been to me. In 2008 I had spinal fusion surgery at L3-L4, then earlier this year I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. For me so far this means resting tremor and lack of coordination in my right hand, some rigidity in my right arm and right foot drag when I walk. When I found that intense exercise is recommended to help fight off the debilitating symptoms of the disease, I knew it was time to quit reading the WODs everyday and saying "next month, next week, blahblahblah". In the two months I've been doing this on my own I've had some successes (418 dead, 245x5 bench and a 22min 5k row) and some setbacks (strained that tight right shoulder and my left hip flexor & glute, surely overcompensating on the squat). So I've been on the shelf for five days trying to rehab my left leg (ty K-Starr). Then I realize what today is for the crossfit community and I had to be a part of it. So at 1pm PST I took off in my garage with everybody else. I made it through 3 sets before the left hip bit down, making me walk set 4 and 5, and kind of limp jog set 6. Final time 1:00:19, lol. The point of this mini blog is to show you guys how much this community inspires me and keeps me going.
I can't wait until I can afford to join my local box, but I am now a crossfitter for life, thank you all for helping me with however many extra years of physical ability I get.

As a former Hotshot it was an honor and a privilege, and to all my fallen comrades know that your memory will live on forever.

The Hotshot's Prayer:

When I am called to duty, Lord
To fight the roaring blaze,
Please keep me safe and strong
I may be here for days.

Be with my fellow crewmembers,
as we hike up to the top.
Help us cut enough line,
For this blaze to stop.

Let my skills and hands
be firm and quick.
Let me find those safety zones,
as we hit and lick.

For if this day on the line,
I should lose my life,
Lord, bless my Hotshot Crew,
my children and my WIFE.

Plan was to stop at 40 mins and donate $5 for each missed rep - so at 40 mins I had missed approx 6+7+4(00) = 17 ($85)

Too much pacing early on, but who knows? It may have paid off.

Great to see the Crossfit elite participating like this, I hope it will always be like this.
