I guess there is an article that says you can't have intensity in a garage and that you have to CrossFit at a "box" I just want to say that everyone who posts here on the mainsite is an inspiration to me and ups my intensity. All the newbs, the pros, the young ones, middle aged(me) and the veterans. I just wanted to say "thank you" to all of you. It pushes me to better myself.
Sorry, I'll get off of my soapbox now.
More importantly though, I'm ready to honor the Hot Shots and donate.
Sweet pic of the day!! Future Crossfit athlete there...
Good job, little man. Hand stand push ups are burly.
I "met" Shari online back in '06 when we both blogged about running, and it was through her that I'd also learned about CrossFit. We'd encourage each other via our blogs, and reading about her fitness kept me motivated. I always knew she was a survivor and genuine and therefore have been a fan ever since. Cheers to you, Shari!
@Mike, I concur, and same to you. I've already donated to Hot Shots and can't wait to do the WOD in their honor on the 31st.
Thank you Shari for your courage.
Nice pic and love the books used. My kids recognized those.
Great looking handstand pushup!! Ready to honor the hotshots and give it my all.
I'll be at the Hotshots event. Very excited. Helen results posted there and I'm redoing it tomorrow.
Love that she's doing the HSPUs on 'Illustrated Stories from the Book of Mormon.' I grew up reading those and listening to the tapes. She must be concerned about spiritual fitness as well as physical.
Awesome pic. I also recognize the books used. Too funny! Watch out Sam Briggs.
Awesome. Love the Book of Mormon story books too.
Shari is truly is my hero...
Do you need to buy tickets to get into the HotShot event?
someone should do an article on Mormons and Crossfit. I love where her foundation is at.

@#1 Mike - haven't seen that article, but I don't feel a lack of intensity in my basement/garage/under-the-back porch/back yard gym. This site keeps me motivated and enjoy virtually competing against the other "old guys". Since January, I've lost 27 lbs.and 4 inches in my waist, lowered my cholesterol, blood pressure, and improved in almost every strength and carido area. Thanks to the Crossfit Main Site and eating paleo for significantly improving my life!
Amazing story on Shari. Very much an uplifting moment watching that while at work. I wonder how many more like her exist within the realm of our CF community. Is there a place where people submit ideas to HQ for videos like this based on people we know?
Anyone read the story about the Crossfit trainer shot and killed in Florida while leading a class?
A Truly inspiring story... I'm a big fan of life stories, there tragedies, and the power to overcome with a Victory. Too often in life are we fed the life is a bowl of cherries crap.
@ Mike, It's generally true that working out with someone may push you beyond that which you are capable, and some people need this. Just like with the open, turn on that video recorder and watch how hard you go! Each of those WODs killed me for a week. This was solely due to that competitive intensity with which it brings on. That being said, I believe there is a higher level of CF that can be achieved working out alone in your home box. It’s easy to compete against someone; it’s very hard to compete against oneself. Learning to fight off the brain demons during a WOD is a workout all in itself I think some of the best games competitors demonstrate this as most started out in a home box or working out alone. A WOD is as much mental as it is physical. The physical is the easy part; the mental is where the games are won. I’m not knocking boxes; I have toyed with the idea of opening one, just my personal thoughts…..
Did the Roy hero workout
Awesome kicked my but!:)
15 deadlifts 155
20 box jumps
:) my time sucked at 31:52
Hey any idea when Dave will announce what the Hotshot Memorial WOD will be. We can't make it down there, but are gathering some if our locals together to do the workout and I want to make sure were prepared for equipment. Thx :)
Subbed from Competitors WOD:
4 rds. of:
6 dead lifts (245)
40 double unders
Re-did Helen. 11:44. PR. Rest day now.
Made up WOD 130813-Tue; results posted there.
This picture is SO AWESOME! I want to see if I can get Roark to try it!
35 Double unders
35 Wall ball shots, 12 pound ball
35 Back extensions
35 Push press, 45 pounds
35 Knees to elbows
Walking Lunge, 35 steps
35 Kettlebell swings, 30lbs
35 Jumping pull-ups
35 Box jump, 24 inch box
I was also a bit peeved that CrossFit would say doing it a box is superior to doing it on your own. I started at a box and now that I just do it on my own I find my intensity is pretty much the same but my resolve has gotten so much stronger, you don't get that from having a cheer team
Not to say that I dislike or have anything against boxes... I'm just frugal!
@Chris/#20, yes. Saw it yesterday and also today on Fox News website. Thinking about him and his family. May he RIP.
I love the Book of Mormon readers he is doing them on. CLassic
awesome. I want to let my daughter do it.
awesome. I want to let my daughter do it.
sure hope the books don't slip out to the sides.....ouch! Plus it would mess up her outstanding form.
She's upcycled those books. Good on her.
What a Rest day...nice pic
We have those books! Crossfitting at home is my life!
