Dear Crossfit ,
Do you have a app that is associated with this main crossfit sight? When I look up crossfit apps I get tons of stuff but I don't see anything from here.... it would make life more convenient for all of us something that lets you post here but you can also log your wods and make friends or w/e?

My WOD after my gymnastics skills session of preferably 2-3 hours:

As many rounds as possible:

5 pullups (Strict)
7 dips (Strict) (5 if using rings)
17 squats (I used a kettle ball it's up to you I used 6 kg)

After completed I got 11 rounds.

How exactly does this WOD work? Is it that you do the intervals as directed, in 20 second work loads, and pick up after rest where you left off, until muscle failure? Counting repititions. Or is it something I'm not seeing.

What would be a good warm up for this WOD? The standard warm up includes 30-45 each sit ups, dips, and pull ups. Seems like it would hurt you on the WOD itself.

I am a bit fearful of this wod. The last time we did 'tabata this' i was served up a royal beat down. Sore for about three days and really tired the day after. While this isn't exactly the same thing it is close enough to reck me. Any opinions on which one sucks more, tabata this or tabata something else?

Shouldn't your score be done as lowest reps achieved during any one interval and then adding them. People shouldn't have scores like 408 etc. it's not total reps achieved.

Comment #31 - Posted by: Brad at August 2, 2013 7:08 AM

Question isn't the scoring suppose to be the lowest amount of reps done in a movement during the 8 intervals is your score for that movement.
EX: Lowest amount of pull ups during the 20 seconds + Lowest amount of pushups, situps, etc... and then the total is your score.
Correct me if i'm wrong i'm a newbie and will be doing this after work.
Thanks.

RE scoring:
The WOD description above reads, "Post total reps from all 32 intervals to comments." This one is scored differently than "Tabata This," which reads, "Tabata score is the least number of reps performed in any of the eight intervals" (you can click on the "Compare to 120806" link to see past scores).

@Jim R - nice improvement on the pull-ups

Comment #34 - Posted by: Joe Northside m/34/70"/195 at August 2, 2013 7:38 AM

I like total reps scoring better. Eliminates the temptation to sandbag on the first 7 rounds in order to hammer the last. Also, maximizing total volume of work done seems to be a better goal.

As rx'd, 460 reps (PR).

Pull-ups: 99 (18-16-14-12-12-10-9-8) - last time 75
Push-ups: 93 (16-16-15-12-9-9-8-8) - last time 82
Sit-ups: 106 (12-15-13-14-13-13-13-13) - last time 91
Squats: 162 (20-20-20-20-20-20-21-21) - last time 132

That one hurt. It's a PR by 80, but it's been 4 years since I've done this one. Pull-ups were going great until I tore in round 5. I had to switch grips to a more fingertip style, which then made butterfly impossible. Frustrating that I was so close to 100 there. I crashed as I always do on push-ups, so I'm pleasantly surprised that the score was higher. Same with sit-ups (anchored, no abmat - same as previously). With squats, I knew I could sustain 20's - but it hurt.

I was struck today by how similar this was to an Angie - I was basically 8 reps short of a 14:20 Angie. That is over a minute faster than my best Angie, and I felt much more spent today than I usually do during/after Angie. Perhaps reconfirming that a Tabata-style Angie would be the most efficient way to do it.

First week on Crossfit! YEAH!

Comment #98 - Posted by: Karen at August 2, 2013 2:53 PM

Tabata's a heck of an introduction to Crossfit!

First WOD I've done... quickly found out that I have rubbish pull-up endurance! Did 10 strict over the first two rounds and then had to do jumping negatives for the rest, so didn't count them.

Did the same with push-ups. Blew up after a few rounds and had to go to knee-pushups.

Should I still count them? Too late now, but for future reference...

Totalled 215. Onwards and upwards!

Scored a 42. I got burnt out on the pull-ups. First interval I did 20 and then the next one was 11. After that plunged down to 4 to 5 the rest the way. Other intervals went smoothly tho. This kicked my ass! Haha

Rx's except scaled up to GHD situps

Pull Ups 11-10-10-9-7-7-7-7 = 68
Push Ups 10 for each round = 80
GHD Situps 6 for each round = 48
Squat 13 for each round

GHD's were a lot tougher than I though they would be. Started off strong on the push ups and then it got a lot tougher after the 4th round. Probably could have added a couple of reps on the squats as I had a little time to burn after each round. Next time - stick with regular situps for the full Tabata affect...

There is music for Tabata! Just search Tabata Songs and you will find it. Way better than looking at the clock!

At least better than last time. Pushups still terrible. Go harder on early situps & sq. Good consistency once I got fatigued.

That was bad. Fatigue set in way too early on PU. Pushups terrible from start. Squats - didn't push at all due to knee. Did all of those workouts w/no break - 7 in a row + terrible eating make a diff?
