What's the starting weight? Or is it at our own ability?

Comment #1 - Posted by: william at July 30, 2013 5:21 PM

The classic 5x5 =)

Comment #2 - Posted by: Thi Nguyen at July 30, 2013 5:32 PM

Did this yesterday for the CrossFit Football ASWOD. 95 pounds on all reps. Press is very tough.

Today did CFFB ASWOD of Deadlift 5 RM. 275 x 5.

Felt great so went to my 1RM of 295. Pulled easily. Kept going to 320 pounds for a new PR for me. Felt great.

Comment #3 - Posted by: Gavin at July 30, 2013 5:52 PM

should i do a metcon after doing this?

Comment #4 - Posted by: jonM at July 30, 2013 5:59 PM

@Jon- do what u need dude. If u need a metcon go for it. Don't limit yourself.

Awesome video on Rich....he's a super cool dude n such an inspiration for me.

Comment #5 - Posted by: Brad at July 30, 2013 6:12 PM

@jonM, this is the WOD for the day. You certainly can do something else if you want to. Many of us do some skill work and some strength work and then the posted workout.

Comment #6 - Posted by: Gavin at July 30, 2013 6:17 PM

Nice job Gavin! That's an impressive deadlift PR.

Comment #7 - Posted by: Deidre at July 30, 2013 6:50 PM

Do they test for steroids at the Crossfit Games? I mean NO disrespect at all but it's amazing the specimens that compete there! I may just be envious but I am definitely curious.

@ Joe Northside wanted you advice since you no my pull up program. Ready to go to step 22 but can't get the 14 reps I should do once each week. 12 or 13 no problem but I'm stuck after that. Change up or keep at it what do you think. Thanks in advance

Comment #30 - Posted by: D.S. at July 31, 2013 7:33 AM

@D.S. - You're so close! I'd stick with it, maybe stay at your current progression until you can do the 14th PU. We've been doing a lot of shoulder work lately which could be making that last rep difficult (rope climbs, hspu, shoulder press). Keep up the hard work ;)

#8 - Great question. I have often thought the same thing. Do they, should they, test for steroids. As the games continue to grow in popularity and the cash prizes increase, the temptation to use performance enhancing drugs in an ever increasing competitive field of athletes, must be more tempting. I would hope that our sport is never tainted in such a way. However, I believe it would be naive of us not to be concerned.

Shoulder press at YMCA, no free weights so did in this sliding rack thing. Sat on a bench as the rack didn't go high enough for extension, oh well.
95-105-115-125-135-145-155 set of 5.
Then 20 burpee pull ups, good to have a lesser day.

These were a little light, trying to get back to form. Form was breaking up at 135.

Still had some in the tank after this so, with the bar only did the following

50 Thrusters
50 Shoulder press
50 Pushpress/push jerks

I was good after that

Done as part of Wendler strength program. Done after back squats
110,125,145,140,140
Last set easier than 4th. Better tightness & plain old determination. Did 145 at set 3 due to Wendler program.
5/1/12:
115,125,135,140,145
Felt better today. Good job w/core tightness - abs, back, butt. Bar at clavicle, no lower. Last set was tough, but not bad otherwise.
