@31. First, take off caps lock, save your screaming for the workout. Second, just read the instructions. It says to complete as many rounds as possible in 7 minutes. Yes, this is all you're supposed to do. It should be 7 minutes of hell. It may seem easy, but it's not, especially when you're doing workouts like this 5-6 times a week.

Comment #36 - Posted by: scott at March 19, 2013 4:24 AM

#31Joe,
Complete as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes. So 4 presses, 8 Sumo DL HP, then 12 front squats @75lbs and repeat the whole routine as many times as you can in 12 min. Post rounds completed + any additional reps to comments and your log book. That's as simple as I can make it. Good luck!

Comment #37 - Posted by: Nate at March 19, 2013 4:30 AM

@Joe stanley.
Yes this is the entire workout a.k.a. "WOD" ( workout of the day).
You do as many rounds as you can in a 12 min. time. Start your timer, begin w/ the 75# Shoulder Press x 4, then using the same bar & set weight do Sumo Deadlift High Pulls (a.k.a. SDHP) x 8, then using same bar do 12 Front Squats. When done, that is 1 round, continue that for the 12 min. & record total # of rounds completed.
For example, If you complete 5 rounds + 4 Shoulder Press & 6 SDHP when the 12 min. time hits, your score would = 5 rds.+10.
Hope that helps...we were ALL new once! 3-2-1 CrossFit

Comment #38 - Posted by: Junior81 at March 19, 2013 4:47 AM

Can you pull the 8th sumo high pull and clean it straight onto your front shoulders to rep the 12 squats or does the bar have to go back to the floor before you clean it into the front squat hold?

This picture illistrates one reason I am not a member of a box. I don't need someone yelling at me while i am trying not to puke. ( yes i know there are lots of good reasons to join a box, I'm just not into group workouts). If this wod is as bad as 13.2, I know i'll be holding the puke down.

A WOD like this one is how I discovered Crossfit. I put together a workout very similar to this one and tried it at my Globo gym, two guys (one on his cell phone) were pointing and laughing. A guy I spoke to from time to time says to me in the locker room -"you look a little silly all gasping like that".
Are you fu@k!ng kidding me!
I started building my home gym in the months following and quit the "image club".
In the 9 months I've been doing Crossfit, I've never heard "how to build a bigger chest" or "tricks to adding inches to your arms" ... The Crossfit community is all about being better people - thats it - I'm thankful and I'm going to kill this WOD tomorrow.

So do I have to put the weight down between the last rep of the SDHP and the front squat? I mean normally at the last rep of SDHP I'd drop the weight and then have to pick it up again for FS. Since we're ending at the top with a SDHP, can I just change the grip and move my feet and start a FS?

Comment on the wrist/forearm problem with front squats. Another option is to hang in there and just keep trying to do them. I almost switched to the crossarm variety because I thought my forearms were too long, or my wrists not flexible enough - I was having to practically put the bar up against my windpipe to rack it on my shoulders. But I stuck with it, mostly due to pure stupidity - after awhile it started working, and now it feels OK. I think your body will likely learn to do it if you don't give up on it.

On the odd minute: 3 Box Squats (explosive out of the bottom - speed squat) - I used 195 lbs
On the even minute: 3 Push Jerk - I split jerked- I used 145 lbs

The main thing that made it more taxing was using the same bar, so I had to put on and take off 25 lb plates each time and I was regripping with the wrist wraps each round as well.

Box Squats felt great. Great explosion out of the hole and felt fast and strong.
Split jerks were o.k. - I was trying to concentrate on connecting to my body, using my hips for faster down and popping back up, not dropping too far down on the dip of the jerk.
I was also concentrating on stoming the front foot and also keeping the split a little wider and my body going down a little more.
Good overall technique and it was a good workout.
Post WOD: 3 rounds of 30 secs on and 30 secs rest of DUs. I would do 60 DUs then rest for 30 seconds and repeat. All unbroken and they felt good.. a little taxing in the shoulders and upper back after the workout but good and then stretching.

@Chris, @Patrick, @Jonathan ... I agree with @Bobr. Hang in there, take it slow, but don't stop practicing front rack. I am still trying to master it. Stretch your forearms/wrists by pressing your palm against a wall with your fingers pointing towards the floor. gradually raise your hand until it is parallel to the ground. This takes time and patience for sure. Also try mobility exercises (www.mobilitywod.com) for upper back, lats, and triceps. The test/re-test results for me were pretty amazing! Sorry for the novel. Enjoy and keep front-squatting!
