Is 30 second ring L hold 30 seconds attempt (ex. 15 seconds L hold rest 5 seconds 10 seconds L hold) or cumulative (ex. 10 seconds L hold ten seconds rest 3 times = 60 seconds total but 30 seconds of proper L hold)

Who knew 30 seconds could be that long? Don't get on yourself too heavily if you couldn't L-sit, you now know one more move you need to practice. You can practice on paralettes, rings, dip bars, between 2 chairs, in the morning, after lunch, right before bed. It's one of those easy-to-do in a short period of time kind of exercises! And, as always, practice makes perfect. I know by round 3 I couldn't hold all 30 seconds in a perfect L anymore. And those pull-ups... we all see Annie and Rich breezing through 100 like it was more annoying than work, but how did you feel starting round 4, 5, 6, 7?

Results somehow depend on how nice your L-sits look.
Should have gone better today with all the hollow rock work I did lately and improved shoulder flexibility for stronger kipping pull-ups, but you can't PR everyday.

Comment #67 - Posted by: Baxter at March 9, 2013 4:32 PM

@ Noah3

I do 15 pull-ups (3 sets of 5 strict) every day as part of my warm up... Except on days where pull-ups are in the WOD. This seems to have helped me drastically. When I first started Crossfit (6 mos ago) I could only do 1 strict pull-up. Today I did 105 chest to bar in 15 min!

Go get it!

I did this WOD at my lunchtime today & had to do the L holds on small dip station not on rings.
I did 7 complete rounds.. I kind of lost track in the middle and might have gotten 8 rounds, but since I'm not positive I'm listing it as 7.
I went unbroken for the first 2 rounds and then started breaking up the pullups... I did them as follows as best as I can remember:
R1 - unbroken
R2 - unbroken
R3&4 - 12+3 pullup, 22+8 secs L hold
R5&6 - 8+5+2 pullup, 22+8 secs L hold
R7 - 7+4+4 pullup, 22+8 secs L hold
R8 (possibly) - 7+3+3+2 pullup, 22+8 secs L hold

Post WOD I did OHS:

65 x 5
95 x 5
115 x 8

As rx'd
6 rounds + 20sec L-sit
I have a decent L-hang/pull-up, but the L-sit on the rings is a totally different animal.

CFWU-2.
6 rounds. Not real good on either exercise. C to B better when I arched back & pulled chest to bar on later rounds. L sits terrible all the way through. Couldn't get legs high enough & only go for 5-6 seconds. Coming off eating binge so that hurt as well.
2/17/10: 6 rounds + 15 PU & 7 sec L-hold.
PU not as good as I thought they should be in later rounds. Kip instead of butterfly but pretty good job getting chest to bar. L sits tough. Still not a great L but tried to focus on lifting legs up as high up as possible even on later rounds.
Lost some time w/moving rings into position & out of way.
2/12/11: 6 rounds even.
