I look at that pic and I think, "Lock out! LOCK OUT!!!!"
Makes you want to lift something heavy over your head, doesn't it?
Make that a poster, and sell online. Johnathan is fierce.
KCSportsDoc, are you a real doctor in KC and what is your speciality? I have been looking for help in KC. 7 doctors, 6 Diagnoses, and I didn't like any of them.

Nice PR brother!
Tweede,
Sorry to hear you're having difficulties. I'm a Chiro, RockTape Doc (CrossFit Power Taping), CSCS and CF-L1, but the KC stands for Kevin Cooper and I'm SW of Boston. Don't know if I'm the right kind of doc for what you're dealing with, but obviously you're a little too far away for a house call. I'm at hotmail under kcsportsdoc if you want to drop me an email just in case I could shed any light on the subject. Good luck with everything regardless.

Several others have mentioned this so I'll chime in -- I also find in the Olympic lifts that I go from being able to do numerous solid reps to just barely making a PR in only 5 or 10 lbs. As you can see from my wod results above my current PR is 175, but I can bang out multiple singles with 165 no problem. In other 1RM situations (squat, BP, SP, etc) my strength curve seems to taper much more gradually -- maybe it has something to do with the Olympic lifts involving essentially the entire body whereas those other lifts are much more isolated by comparison.

I did a different lunch time WOD:
Virtual Shoveling with 45 lbs on one end of a 45 lb bar, over a 24" barrier (box) over and back = 1 rep. Followed by pullups.
for me it was hard on the grip so I would do a bunch of reps and then switch to the other hand forward for the same amount of reps.
I think that originally this was supposed to be 30,25,20,15,10,5 but I did this in my lunch hour and had to trim it a bit. Still a good WOD... I also wanted to leave time to work with the kettlebells on KB cleans and I also played with KB HSPUs.
I was cleaner on my KB cleans on the weaker left hand after already done some reps on the right hand usually.
The KB HSPUs were HARD... with the increase/ deficit height and the instable platform it was a great movement.
Looking forward to playing with both those movements again soon.
I did the WOD in 10:24 and then just did a bunch of stretching, DUs, and KB cleans and KB HSPUs for another 20-30 minutes or so.

Really think I could have gotten 225 if not so worn out from yesterday. Happy with the PR anyway.
Thanks, Bstroik7. i'll try the wider grip.
@ #44 Chris
I had the same problem, it was due to the lack of flexibility in the shoulder.
Try warming up doing shoulder rotations. Using a band is also a great way to increase mobility. Have the band run from the ground up your back and grip it over your shoulder. As you stand it will apply pressure and drive your elbows up.
Practice the front squat with your elbows up and constantly driving them up to the ceiling. A big one is also allowing to the bar to "roll" onto the platform on your shoulders. Just being on your finger tips will allow more mobility as well.
Hope this helps!

Is it weird that I feel stronger/ more comfortable doing any squat clean variation than a stricter variation like a straight power or hang?

Think pressurizing trunk helped. Still need to do better job of chest rising at same time as hips, tightening butt & hyper-extending hips & getting shoulders forward & up to receive the bar. Bump off thighs good overall.

Doing the heavy power clean WOD from the Games awhile back helped with confidence.
