When they say shoulder to overhead do they mean a clean and jerk, or just a push press? Thanks
I guess from shoulder, to ovethead.
#1 They mean strict press, push press, push jerk, or split jerk, however you want to get it from your shoulders to over your head.
You'll likely need to clean it to get it to your shoulders to start with but once it's there you don't need to return the bar to the ground until you're done (or need a rest).
"overhead" is locked-out full hip and shoulder extension
Should the shoulder presses be in front of the head or behind the neck, or does it even matter?
Any ideas on a DU sub? I had a surgical repair of the big toe and too much jumping makes it hurt so I take that to mean it's something I shouldn't be doing

Question regarding kipping hspu. When you are tired in a wod, what is the key to not slamming your head down on the mat? I usually feel like I'm in need of a chiropractor after only a few of these. Because of that I usually do strict or single leg kips. Anyone else see this as a problem with this exercise?
I honestly don't know if I can even finish this one. Double unders alone are gonna take all morning. Oh well, I'm gonna give it a whirl!

#20 it's a barbell not a dumbbell (full length bar with the weight on either end), so you wouldn't use two :)
#16 - subs/progressions for T to B can Knee to Elbow or Knee raises or if you have no bar - v sit ups! Enjoy.

50 min. total (8 min warm-up, 8 min cool-down, 34 min workout) Avg. HR: 160
Round 1:
200 single-jumps
Shoulder presses: 50lb: 10, 10; 30lb: 10, 10, 10
Hanging knee tucks: 5 x 5 (15 sec. breaks btw.)
Round 2:
200 single-jumps
Shoulder presses: 40lb: 15, 10, 10, 10, 5
Hanging knee tucks: 5
Knees to elbows (2/3 min.): 5 x 4 (15 sec. breaks btw.)
For the jump-ropes, I couldn't get the doubles coordination yet so I went with single and doubled the number to still get the workout moving; I threw a few doubles in, but it was trouble.
For the presses, I don't have a barbell so I used my dumbbell Blocks instead. First round I didn't get the weight right. Second round, I was putting a little leg action in by the end.
For the knees-to-elbows, I started with just the knee tucks and worked my way up to about 2/3 knees to elbows in sets of 5 with short (15 sec) breaks.
Great FIRST CF workout for me! Look forward to more.

Interesting video on the kipping HSPU, very informative. Gotta say I'm a little sketchy about folks resting with their heads on the floor, just waiting for an injury there. And maybe people shouldn't kip any HSPU unless they can do a few strict ones first? I know it's cool to get one finally (like a MU or even pull-up) but there's a reason a person can't get a strict one, skipping the steps is ignoring that reason. Kip on!

I'm new to Crossfit and I was able to complete this workout relatively quickly...just over 13:00. However, the shoulder to overhead was too much at 95 lbs so I scaled it down to 65 lbs. Is that alright? Should I try to go slower and do more weight?
35:26 turns out that the shoulder presses were the hardest. The toes to the bar were the easiest. I could not do too many doubleunders so I did about 20 then finished up with a 4 to 1 regular jump. I did an extra round for practice.
23:55

I did another WOD on Sat. afternoon.
Hansen:
5 rounds of:
30 KB swings (2 pood - 70 lbs)
30 Burpees
30 GHD Situps
I also have to say that I did this after sledding with the kids in the morning... and after this WOD I went out again with the kids and we did a bunch more sledding... great day!!!!
I went into this with the attitude that i knew this would be a longer tough WOD... A grinder.
This was o.k. actually. It was a grinder, but the KB swings went better than I thought. I was doing almost all my sets as: 14,10,6.. I would then immediately go into the burpees and just grind through them slow and steady. The first 7-8 felt like a nice recovery from the heavy KB swings actually. Then I would go directly into the GHD situps.. I did mine on a huge swiss ball, with my feet anchored into a stall bar on the wall, and it's a very good substitute.
I would say I broke up the GHD situps with 2-3 very small breaks a few seconds each.
I was zapped, but glad to finally do this one.
If I'm thinking of how I could improve my time, I guess a little bit with the burpees really but overall I liked my performance... I would say maybe only do 13 reps the first round so I'm not too tired and my rest between sets on the KB swings would be less between rounds

I did this at my lunch hour
This was about how I thought it would go... longest on the PP and the other components were pretty fast. I got a little bit winded on the 100 DUs which were both unbroken, and the T2B I did as 16 + 9 with probably about 10-15 seconds break inbetween each set.
I did the 50 PP off the rack. I broke up the first 50 as: 15, 10, 15, 10 and the second 50 I broke up as: 10,10,10,13,7
This was a good WOD. A bit hard on the shoulders since I did the 20 minute WOD with 5 DL, 5 HPC & 5 PP with DBs the other night, but I was glad to get this done this afternoon. I was hoping to break 12 minutes and I did.

with 60# bar, tuck jumps to avoid whipping myself to death. Lots of breaks. How can I speed up toes to bar? My body has its own pendulum interval.

DU not bad thankfully. Breaks because of fatigue not messups. Didn't push hard on overheads. Sets of 10 1st. Mostly 7's 2nd. Tried to make myself do jerks, but mostly PP. T to B tough last round. Couldn't kip well at all on last 1/2 of last round.
