Comment #37 - Posted by: Ben at December 31, 2012 6:07 AM

It is indeed fitting that we end this year with a new Hero WOD. As we usher in the New Year let us all seek opportunities to thank not only those who have served and survived, but also the families of those we have lost. No kindness, no gesture is too small; these are gracious people and they will understand.

It is New Year's Eve and the arrival of the fitness newcomers is nigh. I will once again offer instructional posts each day in January in an effort to "pre-answer" the usual and customary questions. Feel free to send repeat questions to the daily 'bingo' post, or feel free to ignore them, but in the spirit of the CrossFit community please respond with kindness and consideration. We were all, once upon a time, Newbies.

See you tomorrow.

Buy-in: 800m run - untimed.

WOD: 24:25. I misremembered the WOD and ran the 400m first each round instead of last. Otherwise, as rx'd.

Cash-out: 800m run - 4:00, just trying to relax and recover.

This was good. I hadn't done any running for 3 weeks, so it was nice to get back to it a bit. Runs felt good, kept them all between 100-115s. Unbroken squats and lunges. Unbroken push-ups through round 3.

Little disapp w/time because I didn't push on runs. Squats not bad. Focused on getting good bounce at bottom & staying on heels & keeping knees out. Seemed like I was able to go faster on squats last couple of rounds. Pushups not bad. 15+9 most rounds. Lunges - good job w/vertical shin, keeping weight on o/s of feet.

1st ever Crossfit workout. Did this yesterday on the 16th.

Scaled to x5 RFT & x12 per exercise. 20.14

Hard & very very cold outside. Gauge showing -5 at 07.00! Got on a very good sweat - should have pushed a little harder on the run but very icey on path & road.
