So much could be said about the first comment... Those guns, and every other gun used in the recent massacres were obtained illegally ... Therefore gun control comments for law abiding citizens don't make much sense... If just one person had been armed in that school way less lives would have been lost...just one. Connecticut is one of the strictest gun law restricted states, and this happened there... Gun laws don't affect criminals...only make law abiding citizens unable to defend themselves against criminals.
Laws don't stop matter how strict.

Dean, your post is filled with negative emotion however remember those who are driven to respond emotionally will almost completely lose their ability to respond rationally.

That is both the motive and the point. The events were tragic - do not make the mistake of buying the problem, cause, solution that is being presented by the politicians and MSM. The goal is to drive you to an emotional response. Once emotional, you are pliable and logic is what they tell you it is.

I've been doing Crossfit for 3 weeks and I come here to see how others are doing and how to improve. Please go to your favorite political site for your next negative post and tell us about your WOD.

I always thought the gun tat on Christmas' hip was a bit like the yin-yang symbol. When I met her I thought she has such a sweet, kind and helpful personality and demeanor; yet has that contradictory gun image on her hip. The gun tat can represent so many things. We all have the potential for violence and the duality exists within us, it's a matter of recognizing it, making a choice and control. Dean's argument and comment is reductio ad absurdum.

I'm new to crossfit and I'm wondering on rest day, should I take a more supine or prone position for the day? When I chair squat onto my couch should I keep my abs tight or is it appropriate to just collapse through it?

watched "Prometheus" on DVD last night...I was blown away, never imagined it was a Christmas movie. Also, I always thought of Greg Amundson as being "unearthly" but now I think we know his lineage! Ha ha ha!...and Ho Ho Ho! :^)

Question of the day: after intense exercise I seem to always get a headache and blurred vision - with pain behind my eyes. I'm 24 / 6'2 / 175lbs. I remember it happening often in high school - mild ache right after intense exercise and feeling like I could vomit. It always goes away within 30 minutes but it's starting to get annoying since it happens after amost every WOD.

It actually is Mission Crossfit. That's the 410 freeway and Ed is a trainer there. Nope, not Dorsa, my baseball coach is a trainer there as well so our team goes in there a lot.

Today we subbed in 'Hammer'... and I feel like someone hit me with a hammer! Though we only did 3 RFT, it took a lot longer than I thought it would.

135 lbs:
power clean x 5 (2nd rnd I did 10 by mistake)
front squat x 10
jerk x 5
pullup x 20
90 second rest

me - m/40/6'/185 -- 16:23
nephew - 25/5'10"/170 -- 19:42

times include the 3 minutes of rest

The front squats turned out to be killer...
I think I should have chosen a better day for this than the day after doing heavy back squats!

I can't comment on what Dean said as it has been removed... but judging by the other comments, and the fact that I am a Marine, I am guessing that I am lucky to have missed it.

Steve -- you definitely should see a doctor. Could be something small - workout induced migraine, or it could be a drop in blood sugar that your body isn't accounting for correctly, or it could be an aneurysm! No matter what, it doesn't hurt to have it checked. This is why they always say ask a doctor when starting any new workout program. If it is a workout induced migraine, maybe try taking a cup of coffee right after, or right before the WOD... they find caffeine helps to reduce migraine pain in some people. Migraines are sometimes caused by too much bloodflow through the blood vessels in the brain and caffeine can cause those vessels to restrict, therefore lessening the pain.

Started doing the Filthy Fifty on my birthday when I turned 50 three years ago.
Sub box jumps for the double unders.


4 minutes faster than when I started but the burpees are still slow.
