Thanks so much everyone the cert was amazing!! I want to go to them all now. Being motivated by Chris Spealler and Matt Chan during Fran was the highlight for me; it ALMOST made me like Fran. All the lectures were very interesting and informative I learned so much that I hope to pass on to others. I know that all my technique will be greatly improved by all we learned in the small group sessions.
Thanks again it was a lot of fun!
Level 1 at Strong's in Dallas was amazing! Thanks so much to all the trainers for passing on some of their knowledge. I can't wait to Shaquille O'Neal someone during a med ball clean.

LvL 1 Golden.
I couldn’t have imagined having a better group of instructors, every one of you had insightful and meaningful lectures and demos.
Matt, brother, you sound just like Ryan Reynolds... from the movie Blade Trinity (or any other, they're all the same) regardless you were on target. Im still not sure if it was really Matt Chan or Ryan Reynolds playing Matt Chan…. Dave, your command of the subject matter and the clear and concise deliver made it seem easy! Zach you really seemed like the nucleus of that training cell, you were the mitochondria that powered the training, you were molecular (IDK what any of that means, except to say you rocked brother!) Cherie - your passion for helping people really shines, you made everyone feel like part of your circle of trust. Chris, not only was I honored to be in the presence of your CF-Greatness, but your last segment off the cuff about what CF was to you, I took notes, it was awesome, I should have recorded it- regardless I will not forget it, because it totally resonated with me, as I am sure it did with most everyone else.
I don’t think there could have been a better group of instructors out there. I’m still in shock... I just got home from the airport, and I don't want to go to sleep, I need to pass on what Spealler, Meat Chan and all the other instructors told me about PCE and C2E on MedBall Cleans before I fall asleep and wake up to find it was all dream! You all did an outstanding, amazing, superb job. Thanks again to each of you!
Just finished Level 1 at NorCal CrossFit!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I learned so much and had a blast!!!
I had an amazing weekend at the Coaches Prep class in San Jose. We learned so many valuable skills and have increased our knowledge base on how to see a fault, and correct it without over coaching. Teaching in front of our Peers and other CF coaches was a little different than coaching my normal class. I walked away tonight feeling more confident in my ability to coach, and correct errors in a simple manner that everyone understands. I cannot wait to get back to the box tomorrow and take advantage of what I have learned. Thank you Erik, Miranda and Boz, you guys are great trainers, and cannot wait to take another class from you three. Big props!!!!
L1 NorCal CF!!!! Thx to all the Coaches u guys were amazing I had a blast and left with a great experience and alot of knowledge!!!! Amazing presentation! Rory, Hollis, Russell, Michelle,Danny, Pat and Jason.

The class far exceeded my expectations. :)
L1-Rogue, Columbus Ohio.
Seriously with out a doubt the best $1000 I've ever spent. All the instructors were amazing, but a special thanks to Abi and Denise for the squat, deadlift and kipping information. I can't wait to put that to use. And Joe DeGain for overall everything and especially the nutrition part. I appreciate the way you broke everything down and made it as simple as possible:) This group of instructors are truly amazing and their knowledge on that amount of information is impressive. Thank you so much for this weekend!
L1 Golden, Can't thank all the trainers there enough. It was an amazing weekend. Matt, Cherie, Dave, Chris and Zach showed exactly what it meant to be a crossfit trainer...selfless, knowledgeable, excited, INTENSE when needed...I could go on and on. Thanks again for a great weekend guys!
I ran a 50k trail race on Saturday does that count??!! Pfft. . I'll go ahead and knock out these measly 3 for giggles. . .its taper time for Heartland 100 with Thomas Thatcher of crossfit Lawrence !!!
L-1 Dallas- Can't say enought about the leval of knowledge and experience that was brought into Dallas. Their is a saying, "if you think you know something, try teaching it" there is no doubt Eric, Joe, Lance, Zach, Chase, and Gale know their stuff!! I would go to battle with any of you any day!! Thanks for the insight and uniqueness each of you brought to the table!!! It was an amazing 2 days!!! Whoever put this team together should be commended!!! If ever in Louisiana come by CFA!!
Level 1 Cert @ Rogue Columbus, OH ROCKED!! Thanks to Joe, Karl, Denise, Abby, Matt, Drake & Justin for really bringing the heart of Crossfit to life for the weekend. The hands on instruction was crucial...and the hysterical examples helped a lot too ;) great information, effective instruction, and a really fun time!! And the participants were as I expected, awesome bunch of Crossfitters!
Nicole, good luck with surgery! Erin, good luck with DC Certs and your new box in Vancover! Krissy, you're my Fran hero ;) and Abby, kick butt Decembr 1st!

Ok, so my ENTIRE body is sore...Thanks for that guys. L-1 Cert in Morristown was awesome! Thanks to all the great coaches and wonderful CrossFitters who made this a blast. Now to squat therapy I go as prescribed by Dennis.
Again, thanks to Mike, Karianne, Jenn, Dennis, Keith, and Danielle for doing an awesome job.
CF Dallas was amazing. Eric and all the staff were excellent. They kept us laughing and motivated us to become the kind of trainers that CF needs more of. Big thanks to all the participants there who really came together to make this a great weekend of learning and doing.
CF HQ L1 Seminar Staff @ CrossFit Strong - Dallas ROCKED! Walked away with some great feedback and great information to take back to put to use. The weekend was far exceeded my expectations!!!

CF-L1 - Morristown
Outstanding job! Fantastic weekend...well run course! Mike G, Karianne, Jenn, Dennis, Keith and Danielle...top notch instruction. Excellent lectures, demos, and breakout sessions. Thank you for all your knowledge and skill in helping a newbie dive right into CrossFit...you are all excellent in what you do. I'm hooked...and sore...and love it! HellYeaaa!
I showed up late and the 8th fittest man in the world just signed me in with a smile and I took my seat. Two days of finding out how much I don't know, how bad my form was and how to coach. The instructors were all incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I was amazed how they handled all questions, to include those "questions" designed to show how smart/cool the asker was. It is one thing to be fit, it is quite another to be able to teach others how to get that way. These instructors impressed me constantly. I hesitated to spend the money for months but it was WELL worth it.
The Level 1 Certificate course in Morristown was probably one of the best experiences I have ever had. The trainers were al extremely helpful and friendly. I learned so much invaluable information I cannot wait to apply what I have learned at my college over the next few months! Hell Yeah!
Level 1 cert Golden,CO
I had the best experience and couldn't've asked for a better team of coaches Cherie Chan, Matt Chan, Dave, Zach and of course Chris Spealler! I didn't think I could love crossfit more than I did, but after this course and listening to all the coaches lectures and advice and so on. I found a whole new appreciation for the sport and lifestyle that is crossfit! Thank you all very much!
24:40 - about 10% slower than my PR, but I can only seem to set running PR's by entering an official race.

What an awesome weekend!!! Whether you want to train or just looking for a better understanding of crossfit, this course is well worth the time. Thanks again Kurtis, Todd, Sarah, Chris, Nadia and the rest, great job!
Level one Bellevue instruction was fantastic. Thanks for keeping the lectures fun as well as informative. The enthusiasm that you guys have for what you are doing is contagious. Keep it up and thank you all so very much.
Level 1 @ CSP One word - AWESOME!! It's amazing the information & practical experience you get in one weekend. Thank you to Cherie, Dave, Zac, Matt & Chris for the excellent delivery of the information in the lectures and demos. What you learn in the break out sessions, you cannot learn anywhere else. To have the eyes and minds of experienced/elite Crossfitters is beyond words. I cannot wait to share all the information I have running through my head and continue to train my eyes to see all the aspects needed for each movement in training others. Also, the tips I received for my movements are all priceless. We are all works in progress and we have a community of people all in the same boat willing to help and always willing to get farther and go the extra step to get better. Again a huge THANK YOU to Cherie, Dave, Zac, Matt & Chris for everything. Also thank you to CSP for allowing us all to learn at their facility in Golden.
I ran the 5k Breast Cancer Run for the Cure yesterday: 25:47. Not a fantastic time, but it was the day after some serious punishment at the gym.

CF-L1 Dallas, TX
Thanks to all the coaches this weekend at the Level 1 cert in Dallas. I learned a ton, not only about what I can do to improve in my training but also how I can properly instruct others. I can't wait to start training and spreading the knowledge that y'all passed on to us this weekend.
Eric O'Connor did a great job running the class. He joked that we were probably wondering why he was there rather than Spealer but he was great.
All the other coaches, Lance, Joe, Zach, Chase and Gale, thanks so much for all the great instruction. Each of you pointed out different aspects and faults of lifts and movements that I had never even though of or realized I was doing. I can't wait to work on these things on my own as well as share that knowledge with others as I coach them.
The entire weekend experience was awesome and that was all due to our great coaches! Thanks guys!
Level 1 Golden...What can I say, all star cast of instructors, beautiful weather, awesome facilities. This was a great weekend. I had known for quite some time that I wanted to get into coaching CrossFit, and this group of instructors simply reaffirmed that love and passion. Seeing people who have been so successful (both games and business wise talking about their proudest moments being those shared with new members in their gym, confirms why this is such a special group of people. Thanks to Cherie, Matt, Dave, Chris and Zac for the laughs, the feedback, the encouragement and again for reitterating what is truly important about CrosFit.

29:11 (took a couple 30 second walks)
run was hard after doing 250 SDHPs yesterday!!
Level 1 at Crossfit Bellevue was a great experience! A weekend packed with a lot of information and constructive feedback. It felt great to get back to some of the basics and do some rebuilding where the foundation was shaky. Great job to all of the coaches and particularly to Kurtis and Todd. Todd, your enthusiasm is amazing!
Thanks to the L1 Dallas team. Eric, Zach, Lance, Joe, Chase, and Gale: you were an incredible source of knowledge and inspiration. It was a privilege to spend the weekend with you all.
I actually had a feeling yesterday that todays WOD would be a run lol.this should fun...
Hello friends.
I can't seem to run over about 2 miles without getting monster blisters on the pads of my feet just behind big toes (bilaterally). Had problems with 5-finger shoes initially and now have same problem with Innov8. Any ideas from you runners / podiatrists?
Cheers.
Level 1 at Rouge
Super positive experience. Even when you think you know something you only kind of know it.
There is the information, and then the "information" between that, which you don't get from journal articles, or videos, etc...
Also Joe Degain is a great speaker. Everyone else on staff had great contributions too.
@ jct #90:
How much time have you spent running on those shoes? All I can tell you is that, after buying a new pair, it can take a few weeks before my feet are adjusted. I usually start with shorter runs (</= 1 mile) in the new pair and gradually build my way up. You basically have to build callouses where the shoes rub.
30 mins at 5K and decided to run a 10 K finished, 1 hour and 6 mins. Im looking forward to the row and bench WOD I missed yesterday
Big SHOUT OUT to the crew of Trainers/Coaches and people who were part of the amazing weekend at Guerrilla Fitness Morristown! The Community is truly what Crossfit is all about!!!
Ran it yesterday for breast cancer in bunker pants and an scba on air with six other guys from the fire hall in 24:45 with a bottle exchange in the middle. All flat and probably about 400 meters short of 5 km but good enough, I'll do yesterday's wod today!

Level 1 @ Rogue was a fantastic experience. Each staff member shed light in some dark corners and modeled a variety of unique coaching styles. Thanks to Joe DeGain I will forever use the Motley Crue book "The Dirt" as a reference point in my nutrition talks. Thanks a bunch.
M/34/66in/193#...>Rookie at crossfit
So I walked into my small box with the intent of doing the 5k on the eliptical (I did a 10k this AM for PT). On the board they had the WOD for the other box on post. Group 1: 2500m Row for time; Group 2: AMRAP 15min: 7 Box jumps, 7 push-ups, 7 v-ups. So....I got pumped and did Group 1: 11:44 and Group 2: 16 rounds.
May not be the ebst results but I felt good afterwards..once I caught my breath and did a sweat angel.
Also tried to PR on the box jump and did 36in.
Crossfit Morristown and all the Instructors...Thank you for an outstanding weekend! You were all awesome and very helpful throughout the course. Mike G. you ran a fantastic course and the group of instructors were incredible. Coach Jen thanks for the extra help with the muscle-ups...I went home and tried again in front of my biggest critic, my wife, and did 2 in a row! What a great feeling! Thanks again to Crossfit Morristown for having us.
Phenomenal coaching from Joe DeGain and his "internationsl" crew! Doing L1 at Rogue was an epic experience. Fran was memorable, and a great illustration of what makes CF so special: 65 people, all strangers at the beginning of the day, pulling HARD for guy they didn't even know to finish under the time cap. I'll never forget Denise :"Don't you fu@%ing make me No-Rep you!" I hope to use that line someday on someone struggling through a WOD. I know I was "educated" at this L1, but I also "learned" what makes CF the amazing community that it is.

Crossfit Morristown Level 1 was fantastic. Mike G, Karianne, Jenn, Dennis, Keith, and Danielle. Your all class acts and a great representation of Crossfit. I learned a lot and can't wait to move forward with training. Just like the other side o the boat lol. Thanks again.
That beach workout looked gnarly. Boz has packed on some serious muscle since the last time I saw him.
L1@NorCalCF ... Russell and Pat are PHENOMENAL. Jason, Michelle, Hollis, and Rory ... THANK YOU! I consider myself totally lucky to have received instruction from world class athletes in their sport that understand it, live it, and (which is even more rare) can communicate and teach it! The course gave us the definition of virtuosity ... they showed us what it looks like in real life.
CF L1 Atlanta was AWESOME!!! thank you to all the trainers for blowing my mind you guys are beyond phenomenal. I could have stayed a month and not had enough. I am not a sit back and watch person and when class started that was all I could do the whole time. This weekend has changed everything, after having to do that, I feel like, "I have more tools in my pocket"(Chris)to teach and help the people of my community at Crossfit DGA. Thanks to all of you.
Level 1 Golden was an absolutely great team. Matt, Cherie, Chris, Dave and Zac, thank you! Your enthusaism to teach and toward CrossFit is awesome!! I thought I loved CrossFit but after this weekend I love it even more!! All the instructors have such a great passion for CrossFit and the community. They all wanted to make sure we left with the same enthusiasm as they had and that we make sure to carry on the greatness of CrossFit. Thank you again!!

I couldnt agree more with Brittni(comment #14)! The level 1 @Dallas was amazing highlighted by the community aspect of the entire gym cheering for Chris during "FRAN"! All the guys kept us engaged with great humor including a special dance performance from Chase. I had several height specific questions and both Zach and Gale did a great job of breaking things down for me. To Eric we didnt miss not having Speal..... that much:)Cant wait for my Crossfit kids course now. THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS
Level 1 @Morristown. Awesome weekend. Thanks to all the trainers, Mike, Karianne, Jenn, Dennis, Keith, and Danielle. The information, demonstrations and practice opportunities were outstanding. I have certs from the NSCA and USAW and this one by far was the best. Thanks to Karianne for opening up her gym for us this weekend.

Great weekend from Mike, Karianne, Jenn, Dennis, Keith, & Danielle! Although I lost a bet that Austin Malleolo would be there to teach (huge fan!), it was a pleasure learning from you all. I had been looking forward to this for months and now it is time to go forth and continue to learn and spread the passion for health to others.

Thanks to all the seminar staff for making such a fun and engaging learning experience that made everything clear and kept my full and eager attention. It was a perfect blend of watching/listening and then getting up and doing it.
Level 1 cert. in ATL was great. Best lectures I've heard in a long time and as a newbie to Crossfit community I couldn't have felt more welcome and supported. Wonderful (and amazingly impressive) staff! (Thanks Nicole and Leah for your concern during/after Fran haha)

Before my cert @ Rogue in Columbus, I’d say I was pretty excited about CrossFit. Afterwards, that would be a serious understatement. The passion and knowledge of my trainers was absolutely inspiring. If chasing virtuosity can rub off, there’s going to be a group of kickass coaches coming out of this cert. I’d recommend the Level 1 weekend to anyone interested in CrossFit. I’d read the material in the manual but hearing it and seeing it in action just reinforced things and heading back out, I feel like I can explain what CrossFit is all about to people with confidence and clarity. I have a serious girl crush on Denise—I want to be as badass and confident as her. I can’t say enough good things about the weekend. My only wish is that it was longer!

For the record, doing CF does not improve your running at certain distances. To get better at running you need to run. I will admit that one's 400m or 800m will probably improve via crossfit but not 5k or longer without additional running training. I know others will disagree but that's been my experience thus far.
Level I Morristown. Great two days. Learned a ton and had a blast. Thanks for all the help.
Hell Yeah.

With nearly 15 years powerlifting and a 770 squat under my belt i thought i knew a couple things about moving weights! Joe and his crew were able to teach me things i wished i had known when i started all this 25 years ago. Very impressed with all and the level of expertise demonstrated over a broad range of modalities! Best wishes to staff member Abbi, when that next squat gets racked, may all your lights be white girl!

I went into this weekend expecting to deepen my knowledge of CrossFit in order to help me perform better in workouts. Discovering CrossFit had already been a pretty life changing experience, so I didn’t expect another one. However, since returning from the weekend in Bellevue with the fantastic team of instructors (Kurtis, Todd, Nadia, Chris, Sarah, Nicco, the list goes on), I find my mind continually wandering back to CrossFit and what its place is in my life. I can’t help but think that I may have stumbled upon another life changing event and am curious to see where it takes me. Thank you everyone for sharing your knowledge, experience, and passion!

The L1 Cert At Rogue Fitness Columbus Ohio, was something i will never forget. I truly for once in my life could actually say i enjoyed going to class. Joe,Carl, Drake, Justin, Matt, Denise and Abbi were a variety of straight kick ass! I have a whole new out look on CrossFit after spending life changing hours with them. I wish we had more time with each of them to keep on progressing on proper form. I really feel like they truly cared about us succeeding especially on fixing our weaknesses. I couldn't be more thankful for the hands on training i got that weekend. I truly feel honored to have had such professional and inspirational coaches. They really seemed like they loved what they do and made me want to one day have that same experience! Thank you all so much again!

I did a different WOD last night
Last last night, at about 10:30 I did JT in the park across the street from me.
As Rx, a little sub 10:00
(I lost the timer in the dark and it was a couple minutes of looking for it with a flashlight.. funny now, but then it pissed me off.)
I hung up my rings and with VERY LITTLE warm up, I banged out JT. 21-15-9 or HSPU, Ring Dips and pushups.
I do my HDPUs against a tree... so the uneven ground and little rocks and what not kind of slow me down, but I think it's more fun.
The HSPUs caught up to me on the last set for sure. I did singles for the last 3... that never happens that badly.
POST WOD: I did a bunch of technique single HSPUs since I was crashing using the kipping HSPU. They got a little easier with the kip. Then I did a bunch of skin the cats to loosen up the shoulder and just stretch all that upper body out. I almost always do that post JT WOD.
I had my dog with me and had to take a little time to tie her to a tree when someone else was walking their dog in the park nearby.
CrossFit Level 1 course at Rogue was an excellent expierence! You were all very knowledgeable and kept the class engaging and fun throughout! Special thank you to all the coaches Joe, Carl, Drake, Justin, Matt, Denise and Abbi- awesome group of people!

26:03, need to go faster next time. Still had some gas left in the tank when finished.
CrossFit Strong in Dallas had a kick ass level 1 course! The instructors did a fantastic job keeping the course interesting, informative and professional!
Level 1 in Columbus, Ohio was fantastic. So many good things to say about all the trainers, but in general it was obvious that the trainers were all pushing for virtuosity in us and in themselves throughout the weekend.
Joe - kept a great flow, nothing was too short and nothing went too long, end everything was clean. His discussion on virtuosity transcended above crossfit and into general life. Awesome.
Karl - made a simple/complex tool very understandable and transitionable when teaching on the GHD - "it is a cool piece of kit"!?
Denise - brought a great combination of intensity and humor to the teaching. And since intensity is the variable to produces results... well done.
Matthew - had very little time with him, but the value was immense when covering the key components and progressions of the muscleup.
Abi - fantastic! I don't want to sound too sexist by saying that before this weekend I doubt that I could have a woman as my coach. That said, I would love and want to have Abi as my coach. So knowledgeable; so intense; so easy to approach; and so comfy in her skin. She was great.
Justin - was very good with pointing out movement faults and providing cues for correction... only had him for the squat demo, but he was very good.
Drake - did a very effective "quick and dirty" on the snatch. He took one of the most technical movements and was able to teach effectively on key components in a short amount of time. Well done!
Don't think I left anyone out, but if I did it was only because my brain could only take in so much high-density info.
Thanks to all and hope to run into some of you in the future

DALLAS Strong rocked! We had and awesome experience and we can't wait to spread the knowledge and skills we gained with everyone at our box!! Thanks guys!!
What an amazing weekend in San Diego! Our coaches were absolutely amazing. Professional, knowledgeable, humorous and attentive. Stephane, Kimmy, Dave, Austin, Josh and Carlos are all class acts. We learned such valuable information and had fun at the same time. All of the coaches did a fantastic job at explaining the information, ensuring that all questions were answered and even made us a laugh a little! Thanks for a great weekend!
LV1 Cert Rogue this past weekend was awesome. Great bunch of trainers, tons of great hands-on info. Joe DeGain is as fierce a teacher as he is competitor.
Ran a 5k near Moab in Negro Bill Canyon to Morning Glory Arch. After a short recovery in the shade of the arch I ran another 5k back to my car. It was my wife Teresa's birthday and her idea to run. Run felt great and all of the rocks, stream crossings, and small cliff drops kept my brain entertained. Best part was when I passed a group of 50 year old hikers who called me "An extreme athlete". Would not have been able to perform as well without CrossFit. Keep up the great work HQ. -Telluride CrossFit
Level 1 Cert at Rogue in Columbus was AWESOME!!! Joe DeGain and crew really brought their A-game!! Denise and Abbi were two kick-ass chicks!!! Karl, Drake, Matt, and Justin were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful! Joe was perhaps one of the greatest instructors I've ever had the pleasure of listening to! My weekend in Columbus was unforgettable...hard not to be with the outstanding coaching crew and rockin' athletes from all over!!!

What a great experience. I learned so much and couldnt wait to get home and spread the kool-aid. Joe and his team was awesome and having coaches from different places with a vast majority of skills helped bring my. Weaknesses to a new level. It was a great pleasure to attend this course and I had a lot of fun. I learned a ton and already implementing it at home. Once again thanks.

Level 1 @ Rogue---amazing. I can't believe the coaches we had---from all over the world. Each one of you had fantastic eyeballs for watching what we were doing and giving feedback in an encouraging but direct way. I felt like a sponge all weekend just soaking in your expertise. I honestly feel like I couldn't have gotten better coaching from anywhere. You broke down my movement and that's exactly why I was there. Thanks for helping me move toward constant improvement.
