@Gabe

Try leg lifts off an incline situp bench if you dont have a pullup bar.

Or do them flat and have a partner throw your legs down when you hit the top.

Just a thought. Or get your mechanic shop to fabricate a pullup bar for you.

Wait a second...., is that a frappacino in The background???

Comment #18 - Posted by: Leif at August 18, 2012 6:29 AM

No pull up bar? Head to your local Home Depot/Lowes/whatever and build something out of pipe. You can either just securely fasten some overhead (did this in the basement) or build a rack out of pipe lengths

So did Coach B. see this video?... I was under the impression that you always maintained the hook grip for the snatch and clean. From the video I understand that you have to transition from a hook to a true grip as the lift is being executed ..."people are hanging on to that hook grip in the catch.."[...]"causes unnecessary tension and reduces flexibility" ... Confused much, anyone can help with this? I get the reduced flexibly, but shouldn't we work on increasing wrist, shoulder flex/mobility rather than change to another grip during the lift?

Lunges scaled to 115 lbs

The weight itself wasn't the hardest part of the workout. Stabilizing your core as you knelt down and keeping the weight centered above you was where the real work was. 135 would have caused me to sacrifice quality in the reps.

I finally invested in some gloves to keep my hands from getting tore up while doing pull up bar work and it made a huge difference. I still struggle with k2e's and every set was broken. Practice makes perfect!

I did a different WOD Sat. night:
I did 10 rounds of;
10 KB swings (1.5 pood)
10 toes to rings
11:32 ( my goal was sub 10 minutes... got some work to do)
This was the most taxing on my grip, although in the end my whole body was pretty taxed. I was fine in the midline, but I do admit that I felt it the next day. I'm usually pretty good with toes to bar, etc.
I thought of this WOD as opposites really.. I mean one is an opening up and extension of the hips and body, while the other is a closing of the body and a midline contraction, while the first it's important to keep tight throughout the midline and not round over at the bottom position.
GREAT WOD... grip got killed.
I did this WOD at a football field at night.. I was at my wife's family's home this weekend and after putting the kids to sleep I went to the hight school track and football field and set up my rings and did this WOD.
I did 2 sets of all out 20 burpees post WOD and some skin the cats, etc. to stretch out.

95# OHS lunges but 115# may have been better. All lunges unbroken but HR was 176 after them on rds 3-5. Surprisingly, KTE were tough today. Finished w/ 3 sets of 5 ring push-ups, 3 sets of 5 ring dips and five single MU's.

Scaled to 115# after 1st round. Includes 30sec. distance between stations. Time=15:43. Great workout.

Comment #112 - Posted by: Michael m/49/5'9"/175/MI Survivor at August 20, 2012 11:41 AM

As rx'd, 9:12.

Buy-in: CFWUx1, plus a few walking lunges @ 45#, 135#. (But not enough shoulder opening mobility work.)

Classic CrossFit. What a great pairing of movements. The core work of K2E made the OH lunges so much harder in later rounds; and as the shoulders fatigued from holding the weight overhead, it became more difficult to kip K2Es! Forearms were also shot by the end of this. OH lunges tough but unbroken. K2E unbroken through round 2, then 12-3 / 10-5 / 7-4-2-2.

Cash-out: Clean the mud off the bumpers, and try to repair the divots in the back yard before the wife sees them.
