Froning is not getting smoked; he's lapping everyone else.

Another great talk by Greg Glassman. I have to ask the question again - When will Crossfit Media produce a "We Built This" Crossfit Commercial countering/mocking the Obama "You Didn't Build That" foolishness? Would be especially awesome to reenact Coach walking up to an industrial suite roll-up door at oh-dark-thirty, in the morning fog, coffee-cup in hand, opening the roll-up door, cleaning the toilet, mopping the floor, etc. All without gov't help but plenty of gov't interference with respect to zoning, gov't interference with respect to event permits, gov't interference with respect to hiring additional trainers, gov't interference with respect to bookkeeping, etc etc etc. Remember Dave Castro explaining why the Crossfit Games moved from Aromas, CA to Carson, CA - the gov't in Monterey and San Benito County failed to assist, instead choosing to stand in the way of a small business trying to expand. At the end of the Crossfit Commercial would be Greg Glassman turning to the camera, asking the question "Mr Obama! - pause - sip coffee - pause - Where were you and your ilk when I was building this business?" Similar commercial here ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzvVTCswDq0 ... in addition to four others: New Hampshire, Ohio, Texas, Nevada, etc

Went for a bench press max today after hitting the CFTotal a few days ago. After being stuck around 260# for a while, went it today and threw 300# up no problem! Just wanted to share the power of handstand pushups and HANDSTAND WALKS! I rarely bench press but do hspu and walks all the time, I also love to C&J and press. Just wanted to share and tell everyone to START WALKING ON YO FKN HANDS!

@joe-fit how did you get good at walking on your hands?

Comment #6 - Posted by: fintan at August 15, 2012 6:13 PM

Nice Joe-fit - I, too, have noticed a lot of strength transfer from HSPUs and basically anything overhead. Just PR'd OHS today @ 245. Get some, go again!

Coach is so well considered in his replies. I know we're in troubled times right now but It's really cool to get to hear what he has to say on a more regular basis!

Awesome video

Comment #12 - Posted by: Brian at August 15, 2012 10:36 PM

Re the video,

Just prior to C0ach starting that interview he had been speaking with 2 young trainers, 24 and 20 year old owners of an Affiliate, who'd seen what CrossFit is and what it could become, what CrossFit could be for them and what they could become through CrossFit.

We know those two boys here as "The Heir" and "Lil'bingo". Mrs. bingo and I could not be more proud, and we could not be more thankful for this wonderful gift, this CrossFit.

We don't believe in Rest Days! Get creative and make your own today.. Those are the best workouts anyways.

Comment #15 - Posted by: Ben at August 16, 2012 5:50 AM

Bingo - indeed!

The incredible story continues - hard to believe, tip of the hat to all involved.

The Smiling Coach - I like it. Paul

2 Questions:
1) What was the hangover wod?
2) Who's that beautiful women in front of "that guy with the black t-shirt" ???

Comment #17 - Posted by: Bart at August 16, 2012 7:57 AM

I just started crossfit 2 days ago, and my thighs are killing me. When I saw today was a rest day, I said "Thank God".

I'll go for a long slow walk today. Thanks. The weight is coming down.

Awsome message coach!!!
The intensity of waiting for a response to my affiliate application is on par with "Fran"!!!

Day 108
M/45/6'0"/190
CFWU x 3 (subbed push-ups for pull-ups)
Made up WOD 120814-Tuesday
Subbed 40# DB Thrusters for Wall Balls
Eventually had to use the Gravitron machine to assist w/pull-ups
Dbl Unders as RX'd
Time: 24:30

Comment #20 - Posted by: fargingbastige at August 16, 2012 11:04 AM

Hangover WOD was:
-3 rounds-
Hill run (probably less than 400m but I dont know)
30 air squats
15 Shoulder to OH

Running up that hill on a hangover, 4 hours sleep and 20% less oxygen (or so we were told) was just brutal.

I loved every second of it though. It will be the only time I can every claim to have finished a WOD before Froning or Bailey. Im fairly certain they started a while after me though and I finished about 4 reps in front of Froning =/

Comment #21 - Posted by: Scott M at August 16, 2012 11:08 AM

They should all be dropping their arms downhill :(

Comment #22 - Posted by: Dom at August 16, 2012 12:09 PM

Hi!

I don’t have a straight pullup bar, rather a use, at my gym, the handles of a machine, which are at all kinds of crazy angles. I wonder which handles you would suggest I use? I have had a shoulder reconstruction, so am being very careful with my shoulders.

A picture of the machine: http://www.lifefitness.co.uk/static/cms_workspace/products/commercial/lfstrength/signatureseriescablemotion/multiuse/CS-SigCbleMo_CMDAP-hero.png

Any suggestions on how to get better at HSPUs? I just started a couple weeks ago. I can get on my head against a wall but I can't push myself up for the life of me. I know, I'm out of shape.
