Why don't we just make it 100 reps of 225 back squats and 100 GHD sit ups for 100 sets.
Great Pic, Dana! Hope you and Adam are great!
What is a better sub for GHD's an incline sit-up or a toes to bar?
Chris, that made me laugh out loud. Thanks.
It's true though, is this workout aimed at the general Crossfit crowd or a Games competitor? I realize scaling is always possible, but if 90% of athletes will end up scaling, maybe this is not the best choice of weight/reps.
Didn't work the first time...let me try to post again...Thank you CrossFit for posting this picture of my wife. She is so excited. I actually should thank you again though because if it weren't for you I never would have met her. The first time I met my beautiful wife was at a CrossFit competition where I was one of her judges. Been an amazing ride ever since. And George, thanks buddy, things are awesome, hope the same for you and your family.
He wasn't pulling himself up, he was pulling the balloon down.
;)
What's the appropriate sub for a balloon muscle-up? :)
The main site workouts are programmed for the elite. If "90%" of CrossFitters have to scale then it's programmed just right, it's a great choice of weight/reps.
Consideting a games athlete would have an average 1rm back squat of 340lbs. I'd scale back to 70-75% of your 1rm.
# 3 David ... IMO, there is no sub for GHD, but rather than toes to bar, I would do knees to elbows. Inclined situps still provide a great deal of assistance through the stabilization of the bench. For me, knees to elbows require more isolated strength. With toes to bar, I use momentum from the arch position.
Does Crossfit have a preference for a low bar squat vs a high bar squat? Cause I'd really love it if we could have a low bar squat after "Ship" (Thanks for your sacrifice, Sergeant!)
Pat Sherwood rockin' the Aja Barto games shirt..nice.
Oh, after I did a mu of Sat WOD front squat 2-2-2-2-2-2 yesterday, this should be fun.
Has anyone ever experienced headaches as a result of starting the Paleo Diet? I think it maybe my body adjusting. thoughts? advice?
HQ,
Thanks so much for posting the coaching video with Melissa. It's extremely helpful to see great trainers in action! It would be great to see a whole series of great trainers coaching through common WODs in both individual and group settings.

10 min 15 sec. Not bad i skipped yesterday though so it was probably a little easier because of that, but great workout!
#11,
I had headaches for a few days, whether it was sinus from allergies who knows. Are you usually consuming a lot of sugar or coffee and have cut back?
Keep it up you wont regret it!!
Why did I do 2-2-2-2-2 front squats today?? This should be fun for tomorrow!
When I started CrossFit in 2005 I probably had to scale 75% of the workouts for the first 1 or 2 years. If you have not been doing CrossFit for several years.......expect to scale a lot.
20:14 with 135 lbs on the back but will get better. Still in beginning stage to work myself to higher weights and reps.
Well tomorrow was suppose to be 6 sets of 1rep max back squat. Not anymore ..... This looks like a good one

Probably Carb flu. It'll pass
Oh My Goodness! That Balloon craziness made my tummy do a flip and I'm sitting on my couch! BRAVE!
WOD video and Coaching Fran video were both good for showing ideas for scaling. New to this so scaling tremendously and just trying to learn the movements right now.
This is the second Miranda video I've seen with her coaching and she does a great job of it. Definitely need more videos like that.
Time 10.46 rx. Squat was heavy today!
OMG! are those lululemon shorts!? lol
I love the video of Miranda coaching Fran. Seeing elite athletes is great but, whether we are coaches or athletes, it helps to see "common" faults in a new(ish) athlete. Excellent video.
Comment #3. I don't have a GHD machine so i sit the incline bench on my box to give much more of an incline.
Is there a way to do the back squats with dumbbells?
Watched the whats your excuse video this morning. I needed it. Now I am here to work.

congrats Dana! You and Adam are such awesome dedicated people and I'm super stoked that you made main site! We have such an awesome box and I miss all of you! Can't wait to get back there in the fall for good!!
The Dave Castro programming has definitely shifted to WODs for the Regional/Games athletes. I've been strictly following the mainsite WODs since July '09, and I increasingly have to scale the WODs and by significant weight/round reductions.
The 01-06 years of Coach Glassman's programming evolved as well, and you can see the progression as you look through the archives. However Coach Glassman's programming, to me, seemed designed to build an elite athlete, not just to be completed by ONLY the elite athletes. Just my opinion.

My 1RM back squat is 275 pound (125kg).
So today I used 60% of my 1RM for a total of 45 reps in 5 sets.
Is that reasonable?
Should I have gone higher for better stimulus or maybe lower and try to go unbroken?
Great workout! My 3rd day of crossfit yes a rookie and I'm on vacation so had too scale down the workout to what I could do with what I have. Loving the program tho keep up the good work.

Not sure where all the "comments" (aka whining) were coming from in a couple of the posts (Chris, Mike G). Look at my stats, I'm nowhere near going to a regional let alone the games. It's CrossFit, if it was easy it would be everyone else doing it, not us.

Hey, I'm just 15 and I really want to thank you all for getting me inspiration with every picture, every video, every wod. I've been doing CrossFit for about a month training daily, at first I didn't think that I can do all of these exercises, but now I can do them fast and without any problem. I am skinny and strong now, and I want to thank you all, all of you inspire me. I think all of us are like a family, cause we all share the same thing, passion for CrossFit, and I'm happy for making part of it. Btw, I did 10:49.

Dustin
Subbed Toes-To-Bar for the Situps.
Only did 4 out of the 6 rounds, as I was pushing blackout pretty hard due to really low fuel.

Scaled squats to 135 and sit ups unanchored with Ab mat.

I need to squat more. Next time, maybe do KTE instead of ab mat sits.
14:20 scaled to 135# on the back squats... not bad for only my 6th CrossFit workout.

around 20 mins...squats were moderately easy...did situps explosively on swiss ball for rx'd reps plus xtra toes to bar from rings for 21-15-9 to make up

Recovering from a knee issue so couldn't go unbroken on the squat which would have given me a better time because I broke up the GHD a lot. Overall, it was good and my glutes are smashed. Abs okay though.
i was convinced to do this workout by a crossfit trainer/ personal trainer at the gym i attend. i dont usually do the crossfit style workouts but i did complete the prescribed workout in 8:30

15.57. 155# - could have gone heavier. big incline crunches with arm reach at bottom to touch floor.
Miranda - Great Fran coaching. That's really helpful. Very sharp observations.
15:20 as Rx'd.
First WOD in a week (sick), sp I guess I'm satisfied.

GHDs hurt BAD, and made that time much slower than it should have been. I need to work those regularly.

Didn't push hard at all on BS due to right knee, but seemed to do good job getting hips back. Knees out & vertical shin out of hole not bad. Room for improvement though. Done at Clubworx. 3 notches showing on GHD.
