I have a question for a physical therapy aficionado out there. I know how important active recovery/stretching is after a workout, but I was curious what to do after a long run. If that is your workout for the day, then what should your cool down be after the run?

Jason,
I think you want to contact your local box.
Cheers.

Right on HQ for not letting this tragic issue fall by the way side. Teach your kids how to swim. If you don't know, get someone who can. And learn it yourself, you'll never know you need the skill til you REALLY need it.

GREAT VIDEO... I had my niece over for dinner a couple nights ago.. she is a swimming instructor and a teacher... she's going to get ISR trained.. great stuff. Way to think if ALL the way through.. so what is learned is able to be applied. I LOVE this. I think this guy is a GREAT communicator and very clear in his intentions and his methodology.
Great Great stuff.

My review of the "Nike Fuel Band"
I received the Nike fuel band as a gift for Easter and have used it almost every day since. So far i have determined that it is a complete waist of 150$, so if you are considering buying this for your self or someone else i would reconsider. There a lot better options for your 150$.

It is little more than a glorified pedometer. Your arm must be moving for it to count it's "Fuel" points. So for all the pullups and pushup we do it will not recognize that you have even moved and give you no points. Even when your arm is moving it is not very accurate. For example i received 400 more Fuel points walking 1 mile than running a 5k because my arm swing is shorter when running long distance rather than walking.

For those looking for that little something extra to keep them going i would look at some of the other sports gps watches over this toy. You will get a lot more for your money.

Just wanted to comment on the photo. Unfortunately until yesterday I didn't know anyone who had drown or had children who drowned. I got word yesterday that a friend of mine whom I just recently got back in contact with, his 11 year old son drowned. I don't know the details but I did hear that it was at a lake 2 days ago. My heart goes out to him and his family. The real scary part is that I too have children, 2 1/2 & 3 1/2 and the idea of them drowning is horrifying.
We had them in swimming lessons this past spring and were always around them but accidents do happen. The infant swimming resource is something I am seriously going to consider.
I guess I just wanted to post that I am one of those people that think that this won't happen to me. I'm a Detroit Fire Fighter and constantly on the look out for danger and keeping people aware of it. But the reality is that it does happen. It can happen to me. To my family and friends. Yours too. Be vigilant in your awareness to danger around you and the ones you love. Cover them in prayer. Tell them that you love them. We all have a date with destiny. God help that family. And help me overcome my unbelief. I want to believe with a whole heart that there is another tomorrow. But with a tragedy like this I realize deep down I do not. God help me to believe.
