This should be a fun wod. Just a friendly reminder to at least watch the demo video BEFORE posting a question. This is a fantastic website.with links of great resoirces. Check out the FAQ and glossary as well as the other instructional demos. Enjoy!

Comment #6 - Posted by: mike at June 25, 2012 5:45 PM

@ Trueson...you're recommendation is awesome! Unfortunately...it's too easy and logical...thus...no one will do it and instead, will ask questions.

Comment #7 - Posted by: Jay at June 25, 2012 5:45 PM

@ Jay...no doubt.

Comment #8 - Posted by: Eric at June 25, 2012 5:58 PM

Here is something I just learned from the faq page... The HQ message board filter does not like posts that have a lot of numbers. Who knew? Evidently, it also does not like links. With that, do a Google video search for SEAL Qualification Training.

Comment #9 - Posted by: Trueson at June 25, 2012 6:04 PM

@ Eric, I 2nd that.

Comment #13 - Posted by: Fernando at June 25, 2012 6:46 PM

the site says 200 yard run, but the video of the wod said 50 meters. Which is it?

Comment #14 - Posted by: Tim 32 5'6" 170 at June 25, 2012 7:02 PM

nevermind Read it wrong

Comment #15 - Posted by: Tim 32 5'6" 170 at June 25, 2012 7:10 PM

@ Tim

I believe he meant to say, "50 yards...".

In any case, it should be 50 yards 4 times, which is about 46 meters 4 times.

Comment #16 - Posted by: buffedout at June 25, 2012 7:14 PM

SQT...SEAL Qualification Training is all that comes to mind...

Comment #17 - Posted by: Corey at June 25, 2012 7:46 PM

The video demo (1:45) beautifully highlights what's wrong with "sprints" in WODS like this one.

Instead of sprinting the girl is running at a "slightly faster than walking" pace presumably because she consider the run-part of this WOD rest time between her lifts.

Why not make the WOD 3 isolated rounds for time with a 1-2 min break in between rounds to really give people an incentive to sprint rather than jog?

Comment #18 - Posted by: Peter at June 25, 2012 7:49 PM

Great Oscar Wilde quote... just hope my kids don't read it any time soon.

Comment #19 - Posted by: jimmy at June 25, 2012 7:49 PM

Since this workout appears to come from the a combine-type of testing facility my guess for SQT is Skill Qualification Test

Comment #20 - Posted by: Ronnieboy at June 25, 2012 7:58 PM

Can some one explain to me what a "Ground to Overhead" entails. Thank you.

Comment #23 - Posted by: POWERS-(28/M/175/5'10")-ARMY at June 25, 2012 8:52 PM

Bar goes from ground to overhead. Either by power clean and jerk, power snatch...whatevs.

Comment #24 - Posted by: Nate Alexander at June 25, 2012 9:53 PM

@POWERS. Ground to overhead is moving the weight from the ground to overhead. Since it doesn't specifically call out a movement to be used, you can do it any way you like. Power Snatch, Squat Snatch, Clean and Jerk, Clean and Press, Squat Clean and press/jerk, etc. The main caveat is that each rep must start from the ground and end locked out overhead.

Comment #25 - Posted by: Brennan at June 25, 2012 10:05 PM

#20 Common sense is not a common virtue.

Comment #26 - Posted by: Michael at June 25, 2012 10:08 PM

I love watching the WOD Demo videos before I start asking questions. They pretty much have answered every question that I might have asked on the site. Like the Ground to Overhead, I didn't know what it meant. Then the video explained different ways to perform it; Snatch, clean and jerk, and squat clean and jerk. Same with the 200 yard run, oh you run 50 yards there and back(shuttle runs) 4 times. It's late I'm tired thanks for the video. Very helpful. Keep up the awesome work. Can't bring the weights outside so I'm gonna have to figure out how to reduce my time.

Since a video "WOD Demo" has become common place as a part of the daily posting, it seems to have become fashionable to chide folks from asking a question about the conduct of the workout, or an unclear term or movement.
I would like to remind everyone that many of us don't have the ability to download and watch the video- especially in more technologically austere places like Afghanistan. A helpful answer to a question reinforces the sense of community here- an enduring component of Crossfit that will continue hopefully well into the future.

Comment #32 - Posted by: mike l at June 26, 2012 12:11 AM

@#23/#25

I think the WOD demo is a great motivational method. I watch others doing the workout before I do mine, and along the way I get really excited to get up and start training.

Nevertheless, questions comming up on the comments should be adressed. As far as I am concerned this is a community, and a community communicates :-)

I thought I would take this time to post on here my journey so far. I started my "Fitness Journey" at the beginning of May. I had gotten to a point to where I hated looking at myself in the mirror in the morning and I knew that I had to make a change. That is when I started watching what I ate and ultimately started doing Crossfit. Since then I have gone from 250 lbs and what I considered overweight to 220 lbs and seemingly the best shape of my life. I love the way I feel and how I feel about myself and it has been partly due to all of you on these comment boards and message boards for the continual outpour of encouragement and advice that I have gotten to where I am today. So thanks guys and thanks Crossfit!

I did this wod last time with 65# and I was only 5 seconds faster. The runs were different, however, as that was at our last house.

I tried my best to sprint the runs... I am guilty of sometimes jogging and using them as a moment to get my breath.

Did 85#, doing clean/push press for the G2O. Ran to the far oak tree...assuming about 50 yards. Time--pathetic, 8:26. Agree w/ an earlier post...I too don't really sprint these sprints.

For those wondering what else to do on these short/fast WODs...if CFHQ is following the CF doctrine, you shouldn't do anything else. These short/fast/super high energy WODs should fit into an overall workout progression.

6:20 Rx'd "SQT". First time on 6/29. This one would have been very easy for me, but we incorporated pause squats 4x3, and 200m burpee long jumps before it. That upped the level of intensity for us..... so even if you dont sprint push your hardest on every 200m sprint

Three rounds for time of:
95 pound Ground to overhead, 10 reps
200 yard Shuttle sprint, 25 yards there and back four times

6:10 (pr)

Did a few WODs in a row today:

"Fran" 2:36 (10sec slower than PR)
(rest 15min)
"SQT" 4:18 (4sec slower than PR)
(rest 15min)
"Nasty Girls" 6:35 PR by 3 min

Didn't go 100% on these, walk away efforts. Felt good! Last time I did Nasty Girls was in 2008 one week after starting CF.

At Kelvin HS track. Power snatches. Asthma kicked in at end. Sucking for air. Did handstand holds and walks for practice for warm-up.
