I'm just curious, why do people write rx for body weight wods? How can / why would you not do it rx?

#5 - Inability to perform the exercises without the use of bands for pull ups, scaling to ring rows, pistols on plates or with balance assistance, HSPU on box to name a few?

@23 this was my first Cindy. She started kicking my butt after the first 10 minutes.
@42 RX means as perscribed. No modifications, assistance, or less weight. Like assisted with band for the pull ups or inclined push ups. It reduces the weight, making the WOD more manageable to keep the intensity for the length of it without hurting yourself.
Sunday musings…
1) Reunion 1. 30 years since I left the Purple Valley. How fun to spend he weekend surrounded by Ephs.
2) Reunion 2. How many Crossfitters did the “Hope” fundraiser this weekend in DC? Regardless, here’s hoping there’s a Reunion next year so that I can share the experience.
3) Hope. Is there another organization that produces the kind of spontaneous outpouring of kindness and generosity that we have seen with our “CrossFit for Hope?” There may be—indeed, I really would be glad to hear of others—but it’s really OK for us to give ourselves a tiny little pat on the back for this one. It’s more than OK to look to HQ and our leaders and just say “Well done; good on ya.”
We all did some good, and no amount of friction on the edges can dull the shine of this particular brightness.
4) Insular. I learned a little bit about my younger self this weekend and in doing so gained a tiny bit of insight into the maturing adult I am striving to become. I graduated from college 30 years ago along with around 400 classmates. Around 100 of us returned for our Reunion weekend. You would think that in a class that small each of us would at least be on a “hi, how are you” first name basis with everyone who was there, right?
Not even close. There were folks there who I’m quite sure I never even saw in 4 years of college. Never, as in not a single time. Even more than that, there was a measurable number of really nice people with whom I had zero interaction after freshman year. How could that have been? I was a pretty social character in college. Shocking, I know. What’s up with that?
At a time and an age where it should be all about expansion, expanding one’s mind, experiences, circles of acquaintances and friends, quite the opposite was happening when it came to the people part of the equation. And it wasn’t just me, either; this mini-epiphany was shared almost universally at breakfast this morning by all present.
There seem to be a couple of teachable moments in this experience, only one of which is for the younger bingo. It’s obvious looking through the retrospectometer that one should harvest as many friendships, plant as many of the seeds of friendship for future harvests, when one is young living among the young. Makes a ton of sense; seems almost trite. Yet here were 100 reasonably accomplished adults who’d grown up out of reasonably accomplished youngsters who almost universally let this opportunity slide by. At a minimum we collectively failed to reap or sow as much as we could have.
And for us now? We who are now 10, 20, (gasp) 30 years removed from the fertile fields of schools, what is the lesson for us? Much simpler, I think. You can never have enough friends. Whether across the street and there for a wave with the retrieval of every mornings paper, or across a continent and only touched when one sends news and a photo of CrossFitting friends doing their tiny part to make the world a better place, you can never have enough friends.
And it’s never to late to make a new friend.

Rings Class + 1 hour swimming with the kids at the gym.
I did my last Rings Class at CFSBk today. We concentrated on L Sit to a forward flip (OVER) the rings.. lift your hips while rotating AROUND the rings.. NOT just up, but up and around the rings... CONTROLLED.
STRAIGHT BODY pull into an inverted hang, then go into an L and rotate into a skin the cat.. keep the L position, ARMS STRAIGHT, and go into the bottom L position..
Also do this with a bent body the whole time from the L postion...
I also worked a little after class on the bar MU and the HSPU and about how to progress with the Ring HSPU. Ken suggested working first with the rings on the ground.. with my knuckles on the ground below the rings... You will HAVE TO KICK UP INTO THE handstand.. wrap legs around the straps for balance at first.
In working on my HSPU.. work on them with my stomach against the wall.. arms at shoulder width - MUCH closer together.. KEEP HOLLOW BODY POSITION... this will be important for the RINGS HSPU and not overextending with the lower back.

Pull-ups broken after round 7 or 8 in 10/5 or 11/4. Wasn't too bad though with proper pacing. Set a timer to 80 seconds which gave me about 15 seconds of rest between rounds. Last couple of times this WOD came up I'd started too fast and struggled towards the end

I did this variation on Saturday after putting the kids to sleep. I had to squeeze in my WOD.
For this WOD I did: 5 Mary + 10Cindy + 15 MUs
5 rounds of Mary + 10 rounds of Cindy follwed by 15 Muscle Ups (GREAT WOD)

19:10 (25 HSPU, 50 Pistols, 75 pullups + 50 pullups, 100 pushups, 150 air-squats + 15 Muscle Ups) - I did the last MUs in 5 sets of 3 reps.
I HAD to workout outside... it was too nice to be inside a gym today.
I don't really do Cindy anymore. I got to the point where it was more of a function of timing to shave off a second here and there to get another round. After 31 rounds (a PR a while ago, I switched to Mary only). Although different and I tend to feel it in the later rounds only in breaking up the pullups as 15 reps adds up after like 10 rounds, so I usually try to focus on keepin unbroken for at least 10 rounds then keep the pace and get like 14-15 rounds of Mary. I
decided to start doing 10 Cindy + 10 Mary on occasion and that's a lot more fun... so I did another variation today.. also a lot of fun and a killer in how it gets all your muscles in all difffernt angles.
Completed 12 rounds of Cindy as Rx'ed.
16 rounds, pr all unbroken.
Had almost min and a half left on the clock and probably should have continued. Was happy with the pr. Next time.

im just wondering what you guys and ladies thought for Cindy, I felt I was doing them right im usually in the 28-33 realm but then a guru told me that the pull-ups were full range of motion, chin above the bar. Push ups full range of motion with chest touching the ground each time, and squats hips past the knees. Needless to say im 13 now. M/34/5'8"/160
#303 - Your guru friend is correct. Chin over bar and chest to ground. A squat is not officially a squat unless you dip your butt just below 90 degrees (hips below your kneecaps)
