7:15 on the Row

16:23 finishing time, had to use 185 on the cleans (225 would have taken about 1 hour as that is near my hang clean max) and stabilize a bit with a band on the pistols for my right leg (mobility issue?)

Comment #3 - Posted by: Eckers 22/M/6'/189lbs at April 27, 2012 5:29 PM

I'm foreseeing alot of DNFs for you all.

Comment #4 - Posted by: Caine at April 27, 2012 5:54 PM

225 lb hang clean is crazzzyyyy. Something to shoot for! 225 is approach my max squat clean and my rep power clean. Yikes!

Why does it seem, that no one ever brings up PED use among top crossfit games athletes? From what i've read/seen, many top guys are doing as many as 3 metcons, a power lifting session, as well as sprint intervals 5+ days a week. A normal human (haha - to all the people who will say "top crossfiters aren't human") can't recover from such abuse no matter how good their diet is, how much sleep they are getting, or how many hours they are getting deep tissue treatments..

It just seems to me that as with all major sports worldwide, even with testing, a large number are using PED's. It would only make sense that the professional sport of exercise would have a huge number of people doing whatever they can to recover faster, increase their VO2max, etc.

I am a huge crossfit fan, and have taken part in it for three years, but as I watch the weights get bigger and times get lower, is anything being done to make sure the playing feild is as low as possible??

Please don't remove this post HQ :)

Comment #8 - Posted by: Lenni at April 27, 2012 6:53 PM

I like it a lot!...I love any WOD with some rowing in it...gonna have to scale down the HC quite a bit tho to something like 155-175 range. Looks like a lot of fun!

They did bring up PED, you just weren't paying attention. There are other ways to recover that don't involve PED. http://games.crossfit.com/article/drug-testing-regionals

Comment #11 - Posted by: ckatech at April 27, 2012 7:33 PM

cpt obvious - lots of people are talking about PED use and CrossFit is, and has been, testing all the top athletes. Do a little research before taking the 'tude.

Not today, I'm afraid. Today is the day that the Navy will beat the Army at Twickenham, the HQ of English rugby. If all you guys with a Navy link think hard enough, it'll be an emphatic win. Spare a thought too, for the ladies, and the veterans, old boys who ought to know better, but love their rugby.

C'mon Navy !!

...And if you're a neutral, maybe this will sway you to the navy blue side of the house. The RN used Crossfit workouts extensively in their training.....

8:02 on the 2k, 50 pistols almost non-stop, 165 HPC doing sets of 3 reps = slow and weak, row saps some of the clean strength..

Comment #18 - Posted by: Sandbox M/6'2/185 at April 28, 2012 1:17 AM

Since CrossFit has gone commercial the use of PED's is going to be an issue, period. When the general public sees CrossFitter's finish the WOD's that look nearly impossible in a small amount of time they are gonna ask questions. This is a new "sport" if you will, and the GP are uneducated about what it is. The burden now lies with Reebok and HQ to prove that CrossFit is clean.

I'm 350# been doing crossfit for about 3 months. 2k row in 9:45 scaled pistols to 75 regular squats and HPC @ 95#. Total time 25:58. This WOD was a tough one. The row took it out of me. But I'm glad to be a part of the crossfit family and the support is better than I have ever experienced before with any other workout regiment. Crossfit Hot Springs baby!

Comment #28 - Posted by: Kevin at April 28, 2012 7:45 AM

even if they test before dosnt mean that they test all season... you can clean your system out ya know.

Comment #29 - Posted by: nathan at April 28, 2012 9:00 AM

As far as PED's that can open a huge can of worms. then you would ask what is considered a PED's? Caffiene? Suppliments of any kind? I think the great thing about Crossfit and these games is it allows for people from all over the world to compete.. which is awesome... Unfortunately you have to take the good with the bad when ever there is a compitition... I think test dont test.. It doesn't matter I do Crossfit for me, the compititions are fun and add some motiviation at times.. when I want to see how I am doing compared to others.. But other than that... My Crossfit is My CROSSFIT...

21:45 I had to drop down to 185# for the HPC... I am still feeling "Diane" she was a little ruff on me yesterday... but I do love her so much...lol

First, I liove CF. second I'm a trainer with nearly 30yrs
Of training. Lets not forget a couple things,
1, ped's are always ahead of testing. Have been
for years. 2, these people are some of the greatest athletes
in the world. With that said, one of my best friends
one a bronze in the pan am games when we were in high school for Olympic lifting. 181lbs. At 44, he's still strong as an ox, and is capable of most any task. I'm not sure
he could even do this, let alone win. I'd have to ask If you don't think
ped's are being used.....

total-20:17 @ 205lbs

Comment #38 - Posted by: Wes 20/m/6'0"/181 at April 28, 2012 10:30 AM

200 sdhp's @45# - 9:41
50 pistols alternate legs (went suprisingly well)
sub'd 150# hang cleans

Haven't done many H.C.'s before, wasn't sure how heavy I could go... probably could have gotten away with 175#, but time would have certainly reflected it. 95 HSPU in last 2 days took their toll as well.

Total 23:21. Stinky time but done regardless:)

Comment #39 - Posted by: Thorvaldur11 M/43/5'7"/218 at April 28, 2012 10:45 AM

PED's are adressed in the games with testing. http://games.crossfit.com/drug-policy#pandp

It only makes sense that as Crossfit has become bigger that we have our own set of Professional Athletes now. Their job is to be fit.

Me, I'm gonna go do my best but I will always finish my workout. I'm not competing against the professionals I'm competing against who I was yesterday.

had to skip this one,
back still hammered from the deads.

225 hangsquat cleans was a typo right?

Comment #107 - Posted by: Crossfitchirodoc at April 30, 2012 9:40 PM

My friend and I did this today. Row was 8 min.
I did ten reps single leg squat before cleans. Did all 30 cleans then did 50 more single legs. My time for the cleans and single legs was 11.18, giving me a time under 20 minutes. Should have done the WOD in order to get legit time. My friend didn't do any single leg squats, yet he blasted the clean. He did 30 cleans in five sets.
when he recovers i my have someone interested in crossfit.

28:46 w/cleans @195.
14:42 or so after pistols. Mostly 2's on cleans. Felt like I did a good job w/chest back, engaging IT band & elbows high & wide. Better when i could convince myself to land behind jumping position.
