man o man this is gonna be a dooooozy
Barbara, you are so so cruel and yes, a doozy
This happens to be what I did today. 52:03 with strict pullups and strict pushups (chest to deck, elbows tucked in to the torso). I'm looking forward to giving it a go once I learn how to kip and get access to an abmat, so I can actually compare to everyone else.
My butts going to be muddy during this one.
Did this the other day --
1 - 3:05
2 - 2:52
3 - 2:57
4 - 2:51
5 - 2:36
Total time (including rest periods): 26:21
Last round's time makes me wonder if I could've pushed harder earlier.
Hey, that's me in that muscle-up video. Whuuuuu?
I absolutely loved the "My First Muscle-Up" video!!
The effort was great, but the range of motion on one guy's air squats and another's pushups seemed pretty bad to me, anyone else notice that? Or am I just being too picky?
Well this will be about 30 minutes of suck
Barbara with GHD situps? Any thoughts?
Is there an alternative to the pull-ups? My hands are all ripped up and I'm going to be doing this from home - aka no bar. Suggestions??
What happened to the articles? I used to look forward to the readings but they seem to be missing lately. And Barbara is a doozy, I'm excited!
At #8 - good eye on identifying the limited range of motion on the push-ups. If your chest doesn't touch the ground the push-up shouldn't be counted, in my opinion.
Went 500 m & 20 pushups x4
Just found out from doctor my uric acid is dangerously high and I'm at risk for gout. I don't understand because nobody in my family has a history of gout and I eat almost exclusively whole foods (and have been specifically avoiding high purine foods at that!). And of course I'm in good shape because I crossfit! So needless to say, I'm very disappointed and more than a little confused. Anybody out there in the same boat? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!
Love the muscle up video! I can do em on bars only had a couple of chances to try them on rings. Need more practice but I'll get there. Oh yeah Barb's gonna suck
The video is well timed, just got my rings in the mail yesterday. Looking forward to learning how to do them on something besides a bar!
The demo video is confusing. Since when do you not have to touch your chest to the bar in a pullup or to the floor in a pushup? Why would a video like this be posted as a demo video?
That video of those basketball players doing a warm-up is funny. They are a bit too tired at the end.
What is the advantage in using an abmat? Is there an advantage above simply performing situps on the floor? Is it better for your back?
21.56 rx'd except no breaks between the sets.

This is the first xfit workout I've ever finished. I didn't read the description carefully and thought it was just "for time" and not "each for time" so I didn't clock each one, but the workout took me about 40 minutes. I used to fancy myself a pretty in-shape fellow, but this was brutal. I loved it.
Okay, so when I started Crossfit about 6 weeks ago I could only do 4 pullups in a row. I finished Barbara as rx'd and I'm sure I will treasure the pain today. Slow, but I made it.

31:14 Rx'd as best I could . . . I got the true CrossFit post workout feeling finally i.e. don't want to move and you feel like you want to throw up. . . the first 3 rounds straight sets and the 4th and 5th rounds I had to split my pushup's sadly[ran out of breath]. This is my base line now
First ever attempt at Barb..... She whipped me. 48:13. But only 3 dAys into CF after 9 mos off for back surgery rehab.

Knocked off 1 min from last attempt so really happy.

I gooned this one by not reading carefully. I guess that sort of ended up with a scaling up ... did it as 5RFT straight through with no rest periods: 26:53 total. That hurt a little. Would have preferred "sprinting" through rounds with short rests as px'ed.
are they using their abmats backwards or have i been doing it wrong all along? Shouldt the 'high' side be closest to the butt for the proper lumbar curve?
44:04 rx;d, straight leg situps.
This WOD sounds great, can't wait to get it done later, when the weather is cooler
brian @ #37, at my recent Level I the instructor answered this question by saying, "There is no right or wrong direction with the abmat. Experiment and do what works for you." Personally I like high side closest to the butt.

Tried to post this earlier but didn't work for some reason. I am only 6 weeks into Crossfit and could barely do 5 pullups when I started. Did "Barbara" as prescribed today with 7:16/6:20/5:43/5:41/5:21 for a total of 39:21 with rests periods. Not great, but it feels good to have pushed through. This community is great!

This will be my first WOD since the 9th of this month. This WOD will be highly modified and scaled.
I have two ruptured discs in my back (L4L5 and L5S1). Not sure how it happened as it was not an acute (immediate pain) type of thing. Rather, I just couldn't stand up after roll call.
MRI has confirmed it. Injections were done on Tuesday. Recovery could be as long as 6 months. I am hoping to recover quickly. I don't want another surgery (as I have had two before) and the Docs believe continuing exercise will help immensely - and obviously I know/believe this.
Not looking for sympathy but rather just using this as a quick log - as I have used this site for that long before beyondthewhiteboard
This is my first day back at work - light duty of course. Once I get home....
No excuses.

This was my first day back at crossfit, I do exercise and health at college but today really showed me the difference of being fit and being "crossfit".
First off my pull up bar snapped with me swinging on it, not good at all. but i attempted the workout anyway.
3 rounds at over 6 minutes a round with bent over row subbed for pull up. Got sick at that stage so decided to give it a rest until tomorrow.
I dont like being beaten but I am literally battered, bruised and cut after my first day. I love it, bring on tomorrow.

Not quite as intense as I would have liked to be, but it was a good WOD.
I think i did a lot better the last time I did this.. I did break up my pushups at the last set. I was typically doing the sets in about 2:30 - 2:50. I actually felt it in my abs the most... and my shoulders. I did all pullups unbroken and almost all pushups unborken... I could have gone all sets unbroken, but it would have been slower.. and speed is king on this WOD.. I do try to keep all sets unbroken, but in the name of speed I did break the last set up a bit. When doing the situps I would take like 2-4 second breaks at like 20 or 25 or so then again at like 35 for like 2 seconnds. I would stop for a couple seconds (literally) at like 25 and then at like 40.
3 minutes is a bit of a long rest... i think it could be 2 minutes... although I would have felt the difference in the last 2 sets, that's the point.. maybe with 2 minutes I would have felt it in like the 3rd round.
Last time I did this I only felt it in the last round... this time I was feeling it in my stomach after the 2nd round a little. I was butterflying the pullups and getting a little too high.. almost C2B...
I wanted to keep all sets at 2:30 or so, but slowed down on the 4th set.
I was tight and not as intense as normal ... i almost always take Sat. off, but did this on Sat. in the name of taking Sun. off to only swim with the kids and then workout with them.. still fun.
