Why isn't Crossfit Leatherneck's site up and running?
Yay, rest day.
I just cannot get excited about Paul Theroux's "well, there are other obnoxious people out there, you know, and they're liberals!" hype. There are tons of more intersting things going on in this country, and in the world, than the latest mysogenist rant by some media clown. Hell, my daily WOD performance is 10 times more interesting (to me, anyway).
Hey, I'm not bashing Pukie's choice of articles--even though Pukie often makes much more interesting Rest Day reading choices than this one--I'm just saying, "Rush who?"
Nice shorts! thanks for the eye candy
Rush Limbo deserves a kick in the nuts. If I were a boyfriend of that young lady he called "a slut" I would mess him up pretty bad.
I will continue to be a free-rider on this site as long as you continue to post vapid commentary like Theroux article.
@ Steve Cole
Completely agree. Rush Limbaugh is always offensive. People in general are always hypocritical. Is there really a need to write a lengthy article on a topic that has been known for such a long time? I'd rather spend some time on mobility during my rest day than reading futile jabber. Pukie does do a good job posting interesting content, though. This one was just a miss.
#1 The website is Crossfitleatherneck.org .. I think they recently changed it.
Would be even better if people only talked about what they know about. I agree the ordeal was overblown, but making comments like "Rush Limbaugh is always offensive" doesn't speak very well to one's credibility. Most people only know of Rush what the unfavorable media say of him.
It's sad that is website (a fitness website) seeks to promote a political agenda (right of center).
so tired of the right-wing BS on this site!!
Did anyone actually read the article? It is not right from center... It is center.
@11 and @10
Totally agree.
#10 and #11...first of all the site can freely post whatever articles they want and there is nothing wrong generating politically driven comments on the comments page considering this is allows us to comments on the days postings. Secondly Crossfit has never done things "by the book" and pointing out an obvious hypocrisy in current events is no different then crossfitters pointing out the major flaws in our ill suited american diets or the fact that bicep curls and going to a globo gym is not ideal fitness. CrossFit thrives on being controversial and you are right that "fitness sites" dont have political agendas but guess what this isnt your average fitness site
Nice try, HQ, but I'm not falling for the bait. I will say, however, that if Limbaugh had said that about my daughter I would have challenged him to a duel. Not kidding.
#11, agree. Crossfit to stand up for what is right, not what is from the right.
Great Call on the Offenbach! Love that music. First heard it in the movie "Live is Beautiful" best film ever.
I think CrossFit should stay away from Limbaugh. He is a discussing pig who is against everything that is right with the community of CrossFit. We are a community about health, working together, encouragement, clean eating, and exercise. Limbaugh against everything we stand for.
I also think CrossFit can alienate the wonderful women that make this community better. Limbaugh is threaten by a strong, smart, and outspoken woman like Sandra Fluke and trying to tear her down.
I hope CrossFit should stay away from politics. We are large community of conservatives and liberals, and what bring us together is...community. Some of us do Fran in 5 min and others in 25 min...some of us are small or large, but we accept each other for who we are for a community, and not divide us.
Interesting article. I thinks its middle-ish and aimed at opening a discussion. Besides, if you don't like don't read it.
#11 and #!5 did not read the article. #Bill however did. I agree with you Bill. weak article pukie. weak
and neither did you tonycompgeek
The most overlooked and simplest portion of this debate is that a woman who demands birth control pills is not, in the least bit, labeling herself a slut or prostitute or loose or whatever other derogatory things people want to call her. Birth control serves purposes beyond preventing conception: regulating periods, lessening the severity of period symptoms, regulating hormones, and even preventing pregnancy when taking other medications that are known to cause birth defects. A bag of viagra and a trip to the Dominican Republic is much more seedy than protecting your sexuality and your rights.
Anyway, thanks for posting a thought and discussion provoking article, Coach.
I don't care if you are right or left, but defending that p.o.s. is ridiculous and crossfit just went down a notch
20 DB push press, 200 m, 20 DB lunges, 200 m, 20 Kb squat=>3times=16.51 mins
The blog should probably adhere to the rules HQ put out for the messageboards, the only one which is in caps and bold is: "NO POLITICS, RELIGION, OR SEXUALITY!"
#18, your community sounds boring. We share a workout regime, it ends there.
Articles have always been controversial around here, youll settle down after the shine on your new pom poms dulls...go team?
political hustling on crossfit website? lol this site is about fitness. If Rush was in good shape then I could see this as relevant, but he is a fat, pill-addicted, 4 times divorced, conspirator. BTW, what is a rest day? lol Ill rest when I die.
"We share a workout regime, it ends there." Ditto.
After one year of dealing with lingering injuries (separating my shoulder and letting my plantar fasciitis get out of control), I'm finally healthy and back on CF -- damn does it feel good! I almost forgot though how excruciating some of these workouts can be, so today is a welcome rest day. I'm a bit anxious (in the true sense of the word) to find out what tomorrow will bring...
It's not your website, you don't get to decide what does or does not get posted.
If you want a fitness website with no politics start one. If you want a fitness website with a liberal point of view, start one. If you don't like the articles, don't read them.
Why are these concepts so hard to understand?

@29
Because they are liberals, they like to whine and complain. They do not like to see or hear anything they do not agree with.
Good job HQ, this is your site, a free site, post what you see fit.

How come freedom of speech goes out the window when people disagree with the speech?
@MR wrote: "Because they are liberals, they like to whine and complain. They do not like to see or hear anything they do not agree with."
Wow. Stay classy, Crossfit commenters! Nothing like attacking liberals ad hominem to prove just how open minded and tolerant you are (compared to those vile liberals, lol). I don't care about the right-leaning content on the board, but THIS kind of nonsense has no place here.
So because women want birth control pills covered by health insurance they are sluts. Rush takes viagra does that make him a whore?
While I don't like or agree with Limbaugh in general, I appreciated this article. The author makes the point that "You have to give Limbaugh a pass, otherwise you lose the right to go on calling Gingrich and Eric Cantor pimps for Israel, and Rick Santorum a mental midget..."
What I despise most about politics in this country is the inability of people on either side of the spectrum to have a rational discourse. All of the screaming and finger-pointing and gesturing drowns it out.
@#34
Ok, that was harsh, and I lumped a group of people together. Never claimed to be open minded, but do understand it's Crossfits right to post what they want. Answer me this, How many people read the article and then commented? Not many after reading what they posted. They read the title and then complained about it. The article is not pro Rush. It's pointing out the double standard, the flaws in politics and where society is at.
Made up JT this morning. Results posted there.
@ comment #34. Exactly haha. The go to is "whiney liberals" while they're whining in the same sentence. Way to go guys, way to go. Like I said. I'll sit back and laugh.

I also am really tired of political BS being posted on this site. Why? Please tell me what it has to do with health and fitness. Absolutely nothing, and if you take one look at Limbaugh, that POS obviously doesn't even know what health and fitness mean. For a program that wants to bring people together, you sure are doing a good job of posting things that divide people. Left, right, whatever. And comment #32 up there. I like how the far right like to refer to liberals as "whiners". I've never heard anything but whining from the right. I like to hang out in the middle and laugh at it because the amount of hypocrites the far right produces is unbelievable. You prove that point well. Calling liberals whiners while at the same time whining in your post. Thanks for the laugh.
Stick with the health and fitness and things that bring people together as opposed to articles that can divide people. Even though this is an article from the middle, all it does is open up a forum for people on the extreme of either side to give their worthless, one sided, ignorant opinion.
+1 on being tired of the political articles on the site because they have nothing to do health/fitness/etc.
+1 @39. Hypocrisy.
BUT some of those commenters were correct - I read the article and I didn't think it was the usual "politically right-wing" stuff that gets posted here. I thought it was pretty "center," and interesting...but I go to this site for fitness, not politics.
That being said, I do really like the links to the short stories and music. I absolutely love the videos.
BTW, still sore from "DT." Sheesh.
I don't mind the occasional political article, but everything posted here is from the same TIRED point of view.
Critical thinking is like exercise. You're never going to get anywhere unless you vary the approach and the routine.
I love xfit and everything it gives me for free. I still do not understand the things it posts like Paul Theroux's insane editorial rant. What purpose does this serve!?
Crossfit is free!?!? what kind of statement is that? Crossfit is pretty expensive!
Oh, you mean the crossfit website is free, except for the journal.. Oh that makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out - the entire internet is free!
I don't get it - someone asks for $3000 dollars worth of contraception so she can have more sex; this other dude gets irate, probably due to the injustice that nobody is willing to fork out for his Viagra; so called liberals become outraged that the aforementioned dude is not very polite in making his point, and a second dude writes an article to say that he is annoyed that they are annoyed about the first dude getting annoyed about the lady getting annoyed? Is this right?
Near as I can tell, the main reason HQ posts articles on rest days is to provoke comments. Like most things HQ does, it usually works.
For those who think the article is automatically skewed to the right:
3 RFT
Read the article from beginning to end
Think about it
30 sec rest
3,2,1 go.
Kyle, I turst that is a 10 ft target. Want to make sure the community knows we do it right...so to speak. Nice work brother.
New to this. Should i just start with the wod or taper it?
Looks like the political peice posted here did exactly what was intended to do--Stir up conversation. Rest days are for mental workouts on the mainsite, and getting your mind out of its comfort zone. If you don't want to get into a conversation about the article, don't.
Thanks for posting the Theroux piece.
