I usually take the tire off before I flip it lol
Great way to end the weekend!
I know this question will come up and keep forgetting what replaces the rope if we do not have access to one? towel pull ups??
Too easy, an RG only weighs 52,000lbs.
#2 comment was hilarious!
this pic made me laugh out loud. awesome WOD too.
Soldier needs to keep his weight on his heels...
#4, My thought is that really, any sub for rope climbs won't be truly equivalent. The main site FAQ calls for 15' towel pullups as a sub for a 15' rope climb. I respectfully disagree. First, because in a typical rope climb, I use a lot of hips and legs and typically only have to pull 4 or 5 times. Second, for my anthropometry, it's about 24"of pull in a typical bar pullup so in terms of distance pulled, it would be closer to 7 or 8 towel pull reps.
Because of all that long-winded reasoning, four or five towel pull ups makes a lot more sense to me.
The ultimate aim of the EYE is to see something.
Glad to see the POG's finally get theirs.
WOD 12.3 ? It would be great! Probably won't be programmed due to accessibility to the rope.
Shift change: off at 0700 Sunday returns to work 1500 Sunday

Sunday musings (the names have been changed)...
1) Arnold. So far no Big Head sightings. No matter. The CrossFit goings on in the Main Ball room have been fantastic.
2) Gauntlet. The CrossFit Teens get their chance today. After 6 hours of 12.2 yesterday (kudos to Brian Y as the ultimate flowmaster and to Caity and Bill H for the work of their crew), today is the all -day Teen competition. Young CrossFitters from all over the U.S. will compete in a classic CrossFit competition.
The future of fitness is now!
3) Mountain etiquette. What? What the heck does that have to do with CrossFit? I guess I could have labelled this one Surf Etiquette (that's the example Jimi L used), but I have to stay in my comfort zone. 2 days in the surf and only 4 rides for me vs. 35+ years a mountain guy.
Once upon a time there were 2 groups who thought what defined them was what was different between them. The skiers thought ill of the snowboarders and vice versa. Indeed, each tried to exclude the other from some part of the mountain. What they failed to realize was that the mountain, the thing that united them, was massively more important than how many boards you had on your feet.
All this falderal about big boxes vs. little boxes, garage gyms vs. big companies, it's all just as silly as snowboarders vs. skiers. What we have in common, and what we do in common, trumps it all. Drama and ill-will poisons our world as much as sewage poisons the ocean.
Short board/long board. Skis/snowboards. Same break. Same fall line. Same people. Celebrate the mountain. Celebrate the break.
4) Good old days. Mrs. bingo is in the middle of her L1 cert this weekend here in Columbus. Every year for 4 years we have had a newly minted L1 CrossFit trainer chez bingo. Each year CrossFit has been new and wonderful, filled with all kinds of things to discover. We've each traveled largely the same path, a kind of CrossFit "Groundhog Day" if you will. Each one of us has gone through essentially the same journey, and for each of us already there it's been kinda fun to watch all of the "lightbulb moments" and milestones.
Jimi L put it really well: we are growing so fast that every day is "the good old days" for SOMEONE in the CrossFit world. Today is a day of discovery and wonder for someone, just like it was for me 6 or 7 years ago, and you...whenever.
Do you remember what it was like? How excited you were to go to your box and see the WOD? To refresh the Main Page over and over again, so anxious to see tomorrow's dose? I sure do. Sure, at some point CrossFit just becomes a part of what you do or who you are, and it becomes so natural and comfortable to do the CrossFit prescription that you have time to spend thinking and talking about those things on the margins of CrossFit and the CrossFit world that you may like less.
But making that the majority of what you discuss about CrossFit dims the glow for the "younger" CrossFitters. We have a responsibility to them, to let them create their "good old days".
It's the same thing with new trainers and new Affiliate owners. Isn't it just the littlest bit...I dunno...SOMETHING that it's now the expectation, almost the demand, that every trainer in every gym start out at the level of Jeff M right out of the chute? Why, for Heavens sake, is everyone all up in whatever about Bob Harper's squats? YOUR squats looked just like that in the beginning. I love Bob Harper. He's just like every one of us chez bingo when we first became CrossFitters. The guy just loves CrossFit. Just like you did. He's learning how to be a CrossFit trainer as he trains his athletes. Just like you did.
It's the "Good Old Days" in CrossFit for Bob Harper, and hopefully for Mrs. bingo after her L1 cert and test. That's part of the fun of being a CrossFitter, to see the excitement of the newcomers, to feel the enthusiasm of the new trainers, to watch another Affiliate community grow. No matter how long you've been riding this runaway train that can be a source of renewal for you, for CrossFit.
It's not only the Good Old Days for all of the newest CrossFitters, it's STILL the Good Old Days for all of us!
I'll see you next week...

Scaled 135# C & J: 10 rounds + 1 C & J
Strained below my left shoulder blade on the 6th round. Feeling some discomfort. Scaled back and took it easy so that I wouldn't hurt myself and I still took a licking. Probably due to the fact that I was trying to speed through the C & J. Cleaning it and going immediately into the jerk probably put the strain on. Hopefully it's not serious, but I'm definitely feeling some discomfort.
My CO did the exact same thing in Ghazni... except in a MATV

My workout is being held for approval....

Thanks bingo for your musings.
Next week I'm doing my L1 cert... looking forward to some more "Good Old Days" in crossfit. I've been doing it for a while and I'm excited about getting out of the garage and meeting the community.

it takes the whole machine to make something like the military work. Let me see if you could carry out you tasks with out the support of those "POGS" people like you probably have in infantry specialty, BUT never leave the wire. Real infantry men show a little more respect. Grow up kid.
