In the light of recent events we are reminded of the sacrifices made by so many US service members and allies alike, and how quickly that is forgotten by those who stand to benefit from that sacrifice. Non-the-less, I am proud to do this wod in honor of yet another fallen brother-in-arms.

RIP Brother.

Wow that was tough one, this being my 3rd WOD ever.

3 rounds, with jumping squats x10 rep with 25 lbs due to no barbell.

And the HSPU, well did my best but very sloppy

Great workout today... got scolded for "banging" the weights with 315. Still, 10 rounds. Burned out quickly on the HSPU. Anybody have any tips for getting better at them? I can do 10 in a row but after a couple rounds, I can only get 4 in a row.

Never been into crossfit, needed to do this one.
7 rounds completed, added 50m sprint and 10 burpies with plate carrier, since Marjah was all about hopping waadis and running under fire.

90# Wide grip pull downs
220# Deadlift

The soldier stood and faced his God Which must always come to pass...
He hoped his shoes were shining Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier, How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and Said,"No, Lord, I guess I ain't...
Because those of us who carry guns Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough.
But, I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here...
They never wanted me around Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne Where the saints had often trod...
As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God,
"Step forward now you soldier,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Dedicated To All That Serve... God Bless America!

I allowed plenty of rest in working through this. Started off at about 2 minutes per round for the first couple rounds, but slowed to more like 3 minutes per thereafter. Chest-to-bar pull-ups are finally getting better - these felt pretty good. Although only the first round was unbroken, I was almost always able to get at least the first 6. Same with HSPUs - though these were unbroken for a few rounds. Deads unbroken, but felt my position starting to slip a bit in later rounds. Fun WOD.

Thanks for your service First Lieutenant Zimmerman. Much gratitude to your family and friends for sharing your story. Have reflected quite a bit the past few days on what Lynel said above: "I can feel him grinning over this one, as he always did when something was difficult!!!"

What a great attitude (both Lt. Zimmerman's and Lynel's).

Took this one on on Leap Day. Tried to keep grinning, as it sure was a difficult task.

Scaled and got 11 rounds of:

11 Gravitron +60# pullups, 2 DLs 275# (rnds 1-6) / 245# (rnds 7-11), 10 HSPU toes on Smith bar to 2-3" from floor

Had to move from 275 --> 245# on dl's when back tweaked during r6, rep 2.

Next time: Go slower on first 4-5 rounds -- 1:45 per, rather than today's 1:30 -- and see if can maintain pace to get to 13-14 rounds. And stick with 275 or more on dl's if possible.

w/u - 30 sec Samson, 8 barbell bicep curls 45# a la Ripp, 5 x el. foot pushup, scap push, sit; 10 Grav +60# pullup, 135-185-225-245-275x2 dls, 6 hspu toes on smith bar

c/d - reverse wrist curls 30# DB 2x15, 8 barbell bicep curls 45# Ripp-style

As Rx'd.
6 rounds + 11 C2B pull-ups

Took long rest breaks to NOT re-injure the low back deadlifting this same exact weight during a WOD.

CFWU-3. Pushups instead of PU 2nd. No HSPU 3rd. Superman. Burgener. Row 500m.
10 rounds.
PU pretty disapp from beginning to end. Did on swingset at Clubworx to try to keep stations closer together. Prob better off using regular PU bar & wall beside squat rack for HSPU. Broken to 6+5 almost immediately. Grip tough & mentally worried about HR monitor smacking bar. Reps of 1 last half of last round. At least I got C to B that way.
DL OK.Just tooks a bit of a break after PU.
1st set of 6 PU each round not bad. Good swing - legs back & head through.
HSPU not too bad. Mostly 4+3+3 or 2+1 later rounds. Easier when I kept butt tight & toes pointed.

As an Army Infantry Recon veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, I love doing these Hero WODs. Another reason I've come to love and respect the crossfit community.
