Doug & Brendan, way to push on the WOD demo! That definitely looks like a gasser!
I hope all is well out there in Oz.
Wow, that's creepy how similar this WOD is to the one my friend and I just did. I'll be doing this sometime next week...
ya know you are addicted when you see a WOD demo and think, "that looks like fun!"
doing this tomorrow! please get crossfit over to the UK, got told i wasn't allowed to do handstand push-ups or double unders in my gym!
Whats a Fire Breather (in crossfit terms haha)
@ Codey Paulsen
Fire Breather: noun: ever worked out so hard that it feels like your breathing fire/blood? this is a fire breathers comfort zone!. Also see: 2 minute Fran.
Looks like everyone's kicked a goal!
I've always been told to do three single jumps as a substitute if I can't do double-unders. However, I never feel like I'm breathing heavily after singles. They just feel like an extra rest in the middle of the workout, even when doing 3x the normal amount of jumps. Can anyone recommend a harder substitution? I actually can string together double-unders as of a few days ago, but I'm no where near good enough to stick with them for all eight rounds. I would just like this to be as hard a workout as possible, despite that particular skill deficiency.
2 Guys from Australia to watch out for! Go for it Brendan and Doug.
Competed at GGone in Woodstock,GA.sunday in the team competition.Had a blast,I am still very impressed with The CrossFit Community,,great atmosphere and some of the best athletes in the region(world)!!!
Hey guys, I'm new to this, for shuttle sprint's is it a basic 25 yard sprint, or is it suicide sprint's increasing at 5 yard increments? Thanks for the feedback
Yo Ricky it looks like 5, 5 yard sprints. Have fun this looks like a burner can't wait til tomorrow!
Yeah Dougy and Brendan!! Great to see some aussies leading the way- BOO YEAH!!!
@Kenny #9
A more difficult substitute would be the gymnastics "tuck jump". It would be 1:1. You will undoubtedly find this more difficult! I can do double unders, and have gotten to the point where they are more like rest to me in WODS. I'll still switch up every so often and throw these in there. They are pretty awful, lol.
So on the rest is it total time or time each round and add the times together for total time?
Thanks Suzanne, tuck jumps it is!
looks like a tough workout!
anyone else see a few "no reps" on the burpees with the chap with his shirt on?
The guy walking on his hands is my BABY BOY! he is the LOVE of my life and has always been my rock that kills all the Galiets, in our path, and the Anchor that keeps us together!!! PROUD OF THIS MAN!!
What a fantastic event this past weekend at the Sactown Throwdown, put on by Justin Riley of CrossFit East Sac, and Blair Morrison of CrossFit Anywhere!
The workouts were all well programmed, everything ran smoothly, and we all had a great time!
Love the picture here of the Gymnastics ladder, thanks for posting it! Those yellow HIPFIT shirts look sweet! We can't wait till next year!

Great workout. Definite gasser.
11:50 scratched the 25m sprints and also scratched the rest.
Just so I know I'm doing it right, are the lunges each side is one rep, or each lunge is one rep?

Did this wod with a work colleague - great to have someone to workout with. Would've been faster but got caught out in du's in a couple of rounds. I'm sure I won't be the only one though!

Subbed shuttle runs for 200 m rows because lack of space.
I'm still confused as to what a shuttle sprint is... please help! I'm new to crossfit.
@#37 - Parker if you watch the WOD demo you will see it. Basically, it means sprint 5 m, turn around and sprint 5m back; repeat until you have completed 5 sprints. You should end at the far marker from where you started.
Kenny #9
If you can string some together I would suggest just doing double unders. If the rope comes around for the second pass under your feet and you miss it count it as a rep. This way you work on the skill and eventually master it.
17:28. Limited rest to around 60 seconds as 90 was too much recovery. Good quad burner today.
22:05 as rx'd, wow on sub 20's.
@ #27, Good question.
Are the lunges each side is one rep, or each lunge is one rep?
Someone answer please?
Correct me if im wrong, but I am pretty sure each time you jump and land a lunge it counts as 1 rep.
So jump, land right foot front = 1 , jump, land left foot front = 2 and so on.
19:18 rxd
I LOVE THIS WOD.
15 single rep. If you look at the video you can also have an answer. ;)

18:13 rx'd Very cold Phoenix morning. Where's the 110 degree heat?

I can only do one or two DU's at a time. This ate up a lot of minutes! Major goat for me!
#37 Parker, The Shuttle Sprint is 25 yards total, so you will be doing 5 5 yard sprints at a time. So mark off 5yds (15ft) and run back and forth between the marks a total of 5 times each round.
#45 The 15 lunges are 15 total, usually HQ will post "each leg" if they wanted more :)
Hope this helps! 3,2,1, Go!
My first ever Crossfit work-out, just to give it a try and see how you guys train. Very very tough! Legs like jelly now! As rx'd my time was 25.00 flat, not great compared to some of the times posted here. Enjoyed it and will definitely be incorporating more Crossfit workouts into my training!
As Rxed in 19:27 including the 7x90s breaks between the 8 rounds.
what am I missing on the shuttle run- this seemed silly short? Maybe I just did not hit the accelerator hard enough.
That said, thanks for the whipping- DU's make me look like I have been beaten

Subbing singles for doubles is NO COMPARISON! Tuck Jumps is the best sub for doubles! Saw some posts about the "sprints" being easy and the rest being to long. The Shuttle is a sprint! If you actually sprint, the 90 seconds is well needed. This is CrossFit.. Do Work!
Scaled to 5 rounds, 18:34. I blow at DUs when fatigued!
My high school rugby boys will be getting this one in pre-season training, subbing tuck jumps for DUs.

21:32 - not bad. No push-ups in the burpees and single jump.
Alright! Now THIS is more like some rockin old school crossfit!
21:30
90 sec rest seems long at first, but it allows you to hit each round harder. After a few rounds it doesn't seem so long anymore. Gave blood yesterday, really felt it today.
20:45 Did 40 singles instead of double unders. Will do tuck jumps next time!

The hardest was the transition from the jumping lunges to the double unders.
2.5 hrs and still going! :-)
Used tuck jumps for first two rounds than couldn't continue so I just mimicked jumping rope and did a 10 yd shuttle run back and forth then ran 15 yards after the initial sprints to make 35 yards now that I think about it... 23:17 without the last 90 sec rest period added

Really need to get better w/ DUs - coordination falters greatly w/ fatigue for me. Jumping lunges were killer on the quads.
Double unders are killing me. Any recommendations for a good speed rope??? Anyway, 10:57 as Rx'd without rest, 19:57 with rest included. Those alternating lunges made the double unders agonizing. Still happy with two consecutive WOD's as Rx'd!!!

A small moral victory: thanks to the rests, I was able to do all 5 rds of burpees unbroken, lunges and DU's were, indeed, a gasser.
Grace, #107, watch the "wod demo" video with CrossFit Rocks.
I knew I'd be well into the 25+ ground for this one, but I needed a shorter workout over lunch, so I made it an AMRAP 18 and did not include a forced rest time. Just managed to get in 5 full rounds.

Im one of many who crossfit in your average "globoGym" and for awhile i was doing it by myself and today i finally got my friend to join me. For all of you posting your sub-18:00 times,....please tell me you are not counting the :90-sec rests. Considering 7 :90-sec rests amounts to 10m:30s, that means you are claiming to have busted through each round in LESS THAN one minute. I don't think so. Let's just suppose for one second that you are The Flash. You're telling me you can do all 4 exercises in less than :15secs/each. 10 burpees (which take 2 secs/rep to do correctly) puts you at :20. So, you have :40 to do 20 dubbs, 15 jump'n lunges and 5x5 shuttle sprints?? The only way this is happening is if you had the help of Marty McFly. I'm just sayin'.....
Now, if your "17:30" time isn't including rest, then I retract my call-out. But, without specification of that, I'm calling BS. I'm not hatiin', I'm just sayin'. Also, the guys in the WOD demo video were averaging 2 secs per rep for the burpees, and :18-:20 secs for the dubbs.
27:25 rx'd. Unexpectedly, it was the jumping lunges that killed me...

25:18 with breaking burpees and jumping lunges into subsets on later rounds - This was my third Crossfit workout ever. I'll have to say, I was pretty skeptical when I decided to give Crossfit a try. I mean, how good of a workout could you possibly get in less than 30 min? Then I did this...I've decided to put my skepticism on hold until I'm completing all WODs as rx'd with maximum intensity. If I ever get there and feel like I'm not getting a good enough workout, I might try something else. Somehow, I doubt that will ever happen!

As Rx: 17:20
I did each round in about 50 secs. I wasted some time getting my rope and getting that going... only becauses my jump rope winds a bit.
This was fun... TOO MUCH REST given... should have been 60 secs rest. I was thinking that another fun way to do this would be to reduce the rest by 10 secs. each round... 90 secs rest the first, 80, 70, etc. By the end you would have like 10 secs rest and go again...
I think this would be a good format for a lot of WODS actually... especially for the Games. Similarly, they could keep the rest the same but increase the rep count each round, like 5 for everything the first round, 10 the second round, 15 the third... by the 8th round you would be doing 40 reps of each movement.. killer with only 90 secs rest after doing 35 of each just a minute ago... both formats would be fun.
this was a lot of fun... honestly a welcome change to the normal couplets and triplets and high weight strength workouts.. all good stuff, but something like this was a fun way to change things up. I was looking forward to kind of playing.. having fun and just working out... I did.

good solid WOD. Averaged a 1:15 per round, 20:36 RX'd :)
31:45 rx'd - jump lunges were no joke, and I'm convinced my ankles were not made for shuttle turns, but awesome workout all the same.
M/66/192-Four (of Eight) rounds for time of:
10 Burpees
15 Jumping alternating lunges
20 Double-unders
25 yard Shuttle sprint (5 x 5 yards)
Rest 90 seconds
13:35
Hit 21:16 but the double unders were a nightmare.

21:44 w/ single unders. Got a new jump rope and double unders were a disaster. Jumping lunges suck.
20:15
2nd round of DUs were *ss. Can speed up ajls.
Subbed DU with jumping side to side over small (8") box.
Forgot to rest 90 seconds.
17:21 (with rest between rounds that would be 27:51, except my time per round would probably have been slightly less, so maybe 26:00)
25:02
The best I did on double unders was single, double, single for about 12 in a row. The rest were random and broken. I'm getting better, though. My time would have been a whole lot better if I had the technique down. Practice, practice, practice, I guess.
25:01 including last 90 sec rest
As rx'd 17:55. The jumping lunges were killer in between the Burpees n DUBs! Killer w/o!
1st day at Crossfit. 26:32 with last 90sec break included. Double unders weren't consistent at all though... lots of single jumps mixed in there. Hope to see this improve a lot over time.
Great workout!
19:21
Subbed lateral tuck jumps for DU's.
Anyone ever get a sharp headache after doing DU? Any ideas on what may cause it?
Subbed Tuck Jumps for Double Unders.
4 rounds in 13:08
I've subbed double reps of speed singles for Double Unders. It keeps the heart rate up while i continue to practice double unders during warm ups.
As Rx'd.

Performed this WOD yesterday.
5 RFT:
10 KB swings (1.5-pood)
15 Box jumps (20" box)
20 Sit-ups
25 Double-unders
12:27
Not being able to link double-unders together killed me on this one.
34:23
Did this one finally, 29:10, subbed the double-unders for 40 singles. I was surprised it took that long though, my burpees were slow but unbroken, a few of the jumping lunges were broken.

CFWU-Fr home. Pushups 1st. Dips 2nd & 3rd. Superman. Burgener. Run 400m on TM.
22:09
Burpees not bad after round 2 or 3. Decided to just go faster. Need to do this on ALL WODs! Lunges are what slowed me down. Remembering to keep torso vertical at all times helped on last round. DU not bad. Couple of breaks around 18-19 due to mental fatigue. Runs not bad. Got tangled jettisoning rope a couple of times.
20:43
Subbed wall jumps for DUs
