If I can't do DU very well any suggestions on a substitute? I can do a 3:1 ratio with normal jump roping. I usually can only do 2 or 3 DU in a row before messing up somehow.
I"m a huge Chuck Carswell fan! Looking forward to buying you a drink in Carson, Brother.
I learned DUs back in boxing and the trick is to pogo off your toes and spin the rope faster. The mistake most people make in the beginning, (I did too) is to try to lift the legs high. Power jump and keep the legs straight and you'll get it no prob. (Now as for the 275lb deadlift for a 10, that's a whole 'nother story. Much Love Chuck Carswell. Hell even Polaski's time is crazy)
My concrete is more disturbed while doing burpees than that snow.

Any suggestions/advice on establishing a rhythm for Dbl. Unders? I can't seem to get them. It is rare that I can even get 3 in a row without banging my toes with the rope.

what I did is a DU ladder ie. do 1, when ready do 2, and so on until in 3 attepts you can't get the number, then go back down the ladder. I was able to get over 20 in a short time. do it like 3-4 days a week. this is also great for any of your goats.
#4 I have ppl do the same amount of tuck jumps and singles (working on a faster rope speed) so
50 double unders = 50 tuck jumps + 50 singles
as far as being able to get them...practice, practice, practice on technique for rope speed and the timing will come

Was wondering something recently. If crossfit is designed to make people fit and ready for anything, how come there is never any lateral movements incorporated in the wods? not trying to be negative, just inquisitive.

6:35 , sub'd 205lb DL's (bw) and toe touches (soccer skill) for DU's I need to be touching the ball more anyway and thought it was a great sub since you have to spring off of your toes for the entire movement.
7:58 with 255 lb DL ... Would've been faster if the chubby front desk girl hadn't "sprinted" over 2 me while I was jumping rope to let me know that "jumping rope is absolutely not allowed here!" I should've responded with "that's why this entire gym is filled with guys that look like cream puffs and girls that look like hell" .. Instead I said I was sorry and jumped rope with no rope lol Gotta love traditional "fitness centers" !!!!

KHarts87 #80, a similar thing happened to me! I found a spot where no one else was in the weight room to do the jumping rope and this gym lady came in and said I had to go to a whole other area of the gym if I wanted to jump rope. So I definitely lost time going back and forth!

Watched lots of DL videos before doing this, as I seem to frequently injury my back. Took the DL's slowly and went light; focused on form & re-setting. I look forward to working on these more.
The speed rope broke at the beginning of the first round, so had to break in the Rx rope--hadn't been able to string any together with it up until now, but got better throughout the workout.
PR- 5:24. (previous 8:41). 3rd Rd of DLs broke at rep 6. DUs needed significant improvement during all 3 rounds.
