What a great looking gym! Entirely Jealous.
Whew, I needed a rest day
Wow! That gym is amazing! Can't wait to have one of my own! Rest day couldn't have come at a better time!
Resting this evening. May become wine sodden. Suggest you consider the same.
May or may not see you later...
Dearest Bingo
Does becoming wine sodden perhaps coincide with listening to the State of the Union Address?
Bingo-
You've mentioned wine a few times. Please elaborate. Thank you.
gabby 8...Nope, avoidance strategy.
Bugdjj...a worthy educational pursuit.
Does anyone know the owner of that gym???? Or contact details for them. It's about 5 mins from my place and keen to smash some wods
what up fellow Texans...ftw
is that attached to a house??
Enjoy the wine soaking Bingo, its one of lifes wee luxsuires & proof you human an not a total CF machine.
The article compares issues that don't even make sense. Occupy Wall Street has brought a number of issues to light that are actually being discussed (i.e. the enormous wealth disparities in the country). No conservatives were railing against our last president (Bush) as he spent the US into the ground with two wars and deregulation of the financial industry.
Hi Bingo,
you've mentioned your son(s) starting up a CF box.
where is it located? i'm on the east side of Cleveland, in geneva, working out in my basement but would love to have some coaching other than what i study on the mainsite videos. the closest box which was in mentor is no longer there.
also, thank you for your wonderful posts. i look forward to your words of wisdom. actually, looking at the WODs and reading everyone's comments every morning have inspired me to do better with each workout. i'm a 47 y/o mother of two (homeschooling mom) and even though i don't do the mainsite WODs - since i'm not on that level - i'm healthier than i've ever been. i do my own "programming" and when i look back in my workout log from even four months ago, i can see that i've come a LONG way. i've been doing CF for nine months now and i've noticed it has helped me to be a better mother/teacher as well, because i'm capable of doing things i've never before thought possible and i'm not discouraged but instead i'm more focused than ever on the end goal!
4 Miles with 10lbs on my back
40:14 slower than expected definitely not PR
Hi julie j!
The boys are in Amherst, quite a ride from the Geneva. There are some really good boxes closer to you with really good coaching. Feel free to hit me up d a r r e l l w h i t e @ m a c . c o m.
Welcome aboard.
I need pics of garage gyms people actually park in!
--Also, much thanks to CFHQ and Bingo. I have been CF'ing for >2 years, but switched from local box to home gym ($$ and family reasons). The programming and WOD videos are fantastic, and it is fun going back to the old box and wiping the floor with those guys coming from my garage gym!
I'm loving the symphonies!
I have a question for anyone, last night I was doing pull ups and 3 callouses split open and my hands are an absolute mess right now. I read that Graham Holmberg "shaves" his callouses and "sands" them. Can someone give me more insight on how to take care of callouses so they don't protrude so much ending in this disaster? thanks!
@Kyle - Do a search in the Crossfit Journals for "hand rips". The article has good suggestions for treatment options on rips and prevention techniques. I never had much luck shaving my callouses. I bought a nice pair of cuticle scissors and cut mine down. Then regularly apply Climb On to keep my skin supple. Works for me, and I'm sure plenty of other remedies out there.
Anyone have any spare bands? I could really use them for my soldiers. They are hard to come by here.
kyle - i recently busted my hand doing a pullup WOD and i immediately stopped (on a thursday). this is what works for me. ready? i bought a pair of cuticle scissors and cut the flaps. then i cleaned it carefully. it's gonna sting like crap but that's what you get for ripping your hand. i even tied a bag around it so i could take a shower and bathed my hand separately. anyway, what really worked for me is Neosporin AND petroleum jelly (w/ aloe) overnight, uncovered for two nights. i also applied both during the work days. i rested friday. by saturday morning, i put a light tape job on it and did a muscle up WOD. my hand was fine. now, you need one of those pumice stone things that women use for their feet calluses. it's in the health/beauty section but they help keep your healing callus from overgrowing & ripping. that's my two cents. good luck.
I agree with Matt (#17ish). I actually had a hard time figuring out what the author's point was.
Whatever it was, it seemed trite and inconsequential compared to the reality of wealth disparity and the burgeoning plutocracy wrought by corporate personhood.
We shouldn't use our First Amendment right to free assembly because of rats? Our dangerous experiment in middle-class protectionism might go awry and turn to velociraptors?
Uh... sure. Great point I guess.

Did this WOD yesterday, got a PR!
New to Crossfit! one week in and love it <3
Question about WOD-is that all you do for your workout? (example-mondays workout was very short)
thanks:)
Erin @ #27
Yes the mainpage workout is the only workout most CFers will do in a day. You will find that most of the WODs, if you do them at max intensity will be plenty. Mondays workout is a dynamic strength day, which is going to feel different than, say Elizabeth acouple of days before. You'll hear a lot about energy pathways and each WOD is designed to tax different ones on different days. To make a long story even longer...pay attention to Bingo's post (much more insightful than me), warm-up, know your limitations and have fun!
Erin,
Classic CF question. If you are new the short answer is 'yes'. Take a peek back at all of the workouts this month and search each one for 'bingo' for a longer version offered several times.
Welcome aboard. Fasten your seatbelt.
I just started CF 4 days ago. I'm in pretty good shape and can do the WOD with the weight scalled down a few lbs but can do the reps. I run alot also prob 25miles + a week. Should I be doing any other weight training work outs, or is the WOD enough?
Thanks in advance, Chad 27M/5'10"/170lbs
That is such a sweet looking box...I also like the natural sweat blood and tears on the sidewalk in front- it's well used despite its current cleanliness.
Cindy 23 + 2 pullups
No rest today. A buddy wanted to workout and I couldn't say no!
#27 Erin,
Also please consider doing www.mobilitywod.com as well as the normal WOD. Preferably this is done after your body is warm and before the workout, but it's not necessary that it be done before.
annie with ghd's in 11:40, 1 round of jackie 10:30 (should have pushed harder on thrusters, row was 4:02), followed by 10 minute ladder of ring dips and box jumps, both wearing 20 lb vest and got 9 plus 1 dip.
That is a cool power rack design. I like the bottom support brace. What brand/model is that power rack?
That's not a 'garage gym'! It's a box! I am so jealous!
WOD time: 24 hrs at minimum intensity. feels great!
@ Chad - If you are a runner, you might look at www.crossfitendurance.com. B-Mac is the Crossfit running guru and his program will prep you for any endurance event you want, using met cons and short runs. He also has supplemental heavy lifting if you feel you need it.
