Would another workout be done with this or is this enough?
EXCELLENT COVERAGE OF CFR! Glad to be a part of that extended family.
Congratulations CFR~ you have made a positive impact on so many. I am glad to be a part of their extended family.
Robbie looked a little mad in that video... haha..
Thoughts on Lindsey's form as it got heavier? Won't rounding your back and tucking your hips like that put a lot of stress on your spine... and regardless of whether she is an athlete or not, isn't that stress a bad thing. I'm not here to criticize, just to learn, so please don't launch a full scale attack on me
Rob's WOD demo was pretty funny
Rob. You are an absolute beast and probably know more about strength and conditioning than I ever will. Why are you trying to power clean then power jerk at a 1RM C&J? I realize he won't answer so maybe someone else can. Why didn't he squat clean it with impeccable form? Why didn't he split jerk?
Love the coverage of CrossFit Relentless!! You really captured the spirit of our box and what makes it such a special place!
Mr. Orlando can wear a toque indoors. Like Russel Crowe can wear open-toed sandals. It works. For most of us it won't .
#10 Jay - Some lifters just have their own method, split and squat jerk aren't everything. Viktor Sots made records with a push jerk in the 80's.
Rob O - you are awesomely inspiring.
"at 36 years old ... still learning you can't set PRs every time you go to the gym" - great advice.
Maya!
Give the adults a CHANCE for god's sake.
JK! You rock and keep lifting, you stud.
I wonder what Rob Orlando would buy at Bed Bath and Beyond.
That effort by Orlando has kept it real. Many tiimes I see people just kicking PR'S online. Watching him Kick and throw %$#^ after coming unstuck was good for us mere mortals. It would be great to hear what the coach has to say and his execution....M.A.D.
they oughta invest in a tripod over there at cf central, felt like i was watching cloverfield. but WOW lindsey, awesome.
@10 Jay
I've seen Rob posting here before, so he might answer you directly. If he doesn't here's my take.
My guess as to why Rob didn't squat clean is that he didn't need to. If he can get the bar high enough so that he doesn't need to get into a super deep front squat, why go deeper?
He might also have issues with flexibility, making it hard for him to pull himself under the bar into a deep squat position. If I'm doing any cleaning, the default would always be power clean. And I couldn't get anything more by going deeper. For me it has to do with flexibility in one of my ankles.
And for the split jerk, he might not be stronger in the split jerk. Just like Michael said. Different techniques work for different people. Maybe if Rob were to put in time in split jerking he could get a few pounds extra up. But he might not be as strong in the push jerk if he did. In crossfit the push jerk is used way more often. So it prolly wouldn't be worth it.
Just my thoughts on the subject.
By the way I didn't think Lindey had a bad form at all during her lifts. I certainly didn't react to anything while watching the video. Apart from the pause she mentioned.
Hey rob you still inspire us all dude
From what I'm seeing, if Vic dropped those elbows down before his jerk, he'd stick that no problem, BUT we all seem to have our own styles in the small adjustments so I'm just speaking my personal opinion here.
You can see Lindsay make that adjustment when she comes up from the squat, even if its just a small adjustment it makes a huge difference. Again, this is from personal experience with myself and plenty of individuals stuck at a jerk/split-jerk weight. The front-rack, elbows-up position is not an efficient way to move weight up OR force yourself under the bar. Also, notice the position of his wrists at the top of the jerk, over-extended, pointing behind him and compressed. Where does he loose the bar? Behind him.
Either way, incredible job. Vic you're a beast, Lindsay... WOW. and Rob— you're a legend. Keep it up.

I love how much Rob cares.
Its interesting the parallels that CF has with shred sports. And now the number one sponsor is doing what board sport sponsors have always made a living off of, listening to Athletes. I can't afford much Reebok stuff but because they listen, and because they put a lil money back into the sport I chose a pair of their shoes over Nike's. Hope they keep up the good work.
Rob is a real man. So much heart and willingness to put himself out there in the public arena. An inspirational guy. In a world of internet tough guys and whiners.

I’m kind of new to Crossfit. My form was what was holding me back big time today. It wasn't as awful as the dude in the 2nd video (no offense to him) but it needs lots of work. After maxing I worked on it at lower weight and made huge improvements. I'm looking forward to doing this again – hopefully soon. BTW, that first video was really good : it was motivating and provided good examples of technique.

195 is a PR for me! Actually, 185 was my one rep clean before today so for me to get 205 up twice to the clean position was awesome. In commenting on an earlier post. I am not as good (yet) at cleaning the bar to the squat position. I get a little off balance. I seem to be better at lifting the bar higher and being quick to slide under it. Just my thoughts.

Recently ended my collegiate basketball career so looking for something to keep me competitive. Pretty happy with how things went and how I'm feeling. Just need to start working on getting my weights up.

On the videos:
1. Maya- Textbook absolutely beautiful! She can be a great one if she wants to be.
2. Vic- Very very nice, but for the love of god sir stop chasing that bar and wait on your second pull a little longer. There's a lot more in there.
3. Lindsey- That is the ugliest 1-2 pull I have ever scene, but A BEAUTIFUL 3RD PULL! Ugh, there is so much potential there!
4. Rob- It's power game strong man! Come on buddy, you still have speed and get flexibilty at 36, you're not 63

Very impressive maya, but as a Dpt and a cscs I wouldn't advise you to keep lifting with heavy weights at such a young age. You already show you have great athleticism and strength, don't hinder your growth and development just to make the rest of us old folks feel weak. Focus on perfecting your form, maintaining flexibility, body weight strength, and core stability. You have huge potential.

I stopped doing crossfit 3 years ago, but since you asked, my best competition lifts are 136kg in the snatch and 168kg in the clean and jerk, but I've known many athletes that could put up huge numbers that couldn't tell you anything about what their body is doing or know why other people have success. Also, no, I don't have any accredited qualifications, but does that mean I am not allowed to criticize or further more that my criticisms are not valid? Does the word autodidact mean anything to you? ARE YOU A SHEEP?

175 lbs (fail) - super close...almost.. pissed off.. I should have easily had this
I need to work on the faster and pressing all the way through the lift with teh jerk. I get caught inthe middle of the press with my left (weaker) arm.

Did slight split jerk on last set. Cleans not too bad. Comments from last time (Don't dip forward, keep hips back, chest upright on jerk.)

Need to keep bar still in rack position. Dipping bar forward. Losing all power. Hips back, knees forward, chest upright in dip.
