I have to say that it amuses me how random and at times poor the pictures are that brace the main page. Apparently a large portion of us Xfit'ers love to see topless women working out - whatever makes you happy I guess. Today's though...a college kid in ROTC who happens to have a set of rings is now worthy of this? Hmm...I can't lie, there have been amazing photos that are inspirational and encouraging, plus ones that make me want to knock out another WOD. This is not one of them. I don't know who decides what to post (HQ?) but maybe they should really use the undoubtably vast amount of pictures the Xfit community sends them (lets face it, we're all obsessed with taking pictures of ourselves and Boxes) to come up with better ones. Is this a rant that is completely unnecessary and borderline pathetic? Yes, just like too many photos posted here on my beloved main page!

Sunday musings (freezing from the rink)...

1) Proper attire. It's like art, ya know? I can't describe it, but I know it when I see it.

Shorts, sandals, and a tee shirt do NOT constitute proper attire in a hockey rink, even if it IS 80 degrees outside. Brrrrrr.

2) Bumper Sticker. "Trample the wounded. Hurdle the dead." This passes for literature in a hockey rink parking lot.

I'm strangely OK with that.

3) Single issue. Lil'bingo and I had a breakfast conversation once upon a time with a couple of other CrossFitters. We, LB and I, thought we were having a discussion about nutrition and performance. After a bit it became clear that it was actually a discussion of religion. At least for the other two.

Has this happened to you? You engage someone in a conversation about something or other, something usually peripheral to the core issues of life but not quite so peripheral that it is trivial (being generous here), only to discover that the subject is the ONLY thing the other person thinks about? Worse yet, their thoughts have so ossified that there really isn't a conversation going on at all, just a presentation accompanied by a vehement offensive against non-orthodoxy.

Logic, rational thought, and informed discourse have no role for these people. It's not just nutrition, it can be literally anything. There's a chink in every armor; there's another side to every argument. What's good for the goose is not always necessarily what's good for the gander. What if that gander really DID want to gain weight? Or that goose needed to shed some weight before an epic annual trip south? It's rare that a single answer exists to some of this stuff, but it seems pretty clear to me that if one DID exist it would stand the test of breakfast conversation.

Very few Theories actually progress to become Laws. Be open.

4) Under Construction. If I ever thought about getting a tattoo (and I don't), this might be what it would say. Constantly, perpetually "under construction." Not just in the physical, fitness sense of the word, although CrossFit has been like a lightening bolt when it comes to the importance of always building a better physical 'you'. There's also work to be done in the other human domains, too.

Nope, it's more about not really EVER being a finished product. The construction project is obvious and the changes massive when you watch the 'building' of a child; it's kinda like watching the framing of a house. But that house is never actually done, at least not while you are still living in it. A little addition here, a little subtraction there. A new roof. More efficient wiring. Heck, the plumbing needs attention eventually. There's work to be done, projects big and small, both inside and outside.

That's me; that's us. Under construction. Still.

I'm with Dave. While I think the picture is kinda boring and uninspiring, that fact doesn't really bother me. What I do find interesting is Andrew's need to point out how "pathetic" he finds someone else's opinion. You think the fact that Dave took the time to express his dissapointment in the photo choice to be "pathetic", but is it really any more "pathetic" than your taking the time to write about your opinion of him? Maybe we should just agree to dissagree without having to resort to calling other people childish names. Or better yet, lets just focus on working out and not let other peoples opinions bother us. As for me, well, I guess I'm gonna go work out now. Good luck, all.

Nice set up Ryan. Research indicates fit students earn higher GPAs. Crossfit is often an exercise in dedication, so is education. Well done buddy, keep up the good work.

I've never posted before... But sometimes I read these posts when I'm bored. If people don't like to see the naked chicks or someones stupid apartment, don't look at them or even come to the website u wont be missed or even noticed

I love the half naked chicks, and this guy has better equipment then me and hes proud of his apartment So there's really nothing wrong w this pic

Sweet setup for a dorm room! It's motivating because if you received a college education and lived in the dorms, you would know that you get next to no space to live in. This guy has sacrificed all his free space for working out. That is dedication and an "excuse-free" mentality. Stop hating because your little pic of you almost getting a muscle up didn't make the cut!

Really enjoyed the coaching article - I work in law enforcement, and I make a point of asking a senior officer or even a junior officer their thoughts on each call of signficance. I like to think, at the least, that my confidence has improved by having discussions of what worked and what needed a different angle. I find having that second set of eyes and ears who can ask, "why'd you do that?" really helps me analyze each encounter. In a way, I get my coaching from half a dozen other off

I respect the display, but it looks like you need a little help with the flags: search "how to fly the us flag." You should find enough good sites to give you the regs on flying the US and DA flags together.
