So what you're saying is that Chris Spealler did at least 320 double unders in 4 minutes. INSANE!
There was a video a short while back where Chris did 251 in 2min, so not that surprising :)
lol cool wod, i used to do this all the time to get better at double unders. pretty tough
I am heading down to my garage/dojo/gym to tear this up right now! I think I might throw in a sledgehammer slam tabata after this because I kind of suck at DU's lol. Maybe just more practice after... I love this stuff!!!
I want those yellow Reeboks!! Can't find them online...Anyone know where I can get them from?
Spealler= The man, and I pretty much just died laughing at the Obama Pay your bills things, such a simple solution bahaha
that felonius monk vid is awesome
What if you can not do a double under? I've tried for over a year now and for some reason I can't do them!
@9 you could go two ways: 1. skill.skill.skill. just keep working at it, even if it's one "sloppy" DU at a time. or 2. do tuck jumps or jumping squats.
Sigh...
The right-wing conservative bias here is unfortunate. Can we really blame Obama for the Bush-era tax cuts and deregulation that pushed off the recession and ultimately exacerbated it?
Heather, so just not try anymore right? For real, put the clock down, and keep trying. If its lack of instruction, then watch more videos.
...and whip that damn rope around will ya.
Speal is amazing, I remember a vid of him doing over 250 in 2 minutes. Sick DU capacity, well sick work capacity, actually! No offense Miranda ;-)
The funk vid is hilarious.
Also, anyone wanting to test themselves against others in the community in an ONLINE competition hosted by The Garage Games:

I hear you @yikes. I like this comment on YouTube for that video:
"I'm sorry but this video is ignorant. "B" was not the main contributing factor to the countries debt -- war was the main factor. Then add education, roads, social security, and federal school loans, that we all hold so dear, and debt appears. If Bush did not cut taxes dramatically for the rich, we wouldn't have as much debt if any. Get it straight. Prior policies got us here. Not Obama. He's trying to get us out, and look at the help he's got."
Here we go again!!! Time for another conservative pep rally on crossfit.
It's all about observable and measurable results when it comes to fitness but I don't understand how that doesn't translate to intellectual curiosity.
I am a 4.5 year CrossFitter, I am a Afghan Vet and Ex Infantry, I did my level one in 2008 and opened a Garage Gym in 2009.
After getting out of the military last year I started University in Canada. I started up a CrossFit Club and moved my approximately $12,000 of equipment to the Track&Field house. I began training fellow Track Athletes on Oly lifting, as well as all around conditioning (being very unimpressed with the level of training they were receiving from coached)
Several of the coaches requested me to work with their groups (sprints, jumps, throws) and the athletes who have worked with me are by far the best lifters in that program.
With what little time I had left I ran a CrossFit club out of my little corner, I repaired the University's platforms, plyo boxes and build pullup structures (all on my own dime)
My club saw some of the most consistent attendance of any campus club (swing dancing, debating, adventure sports ect.) With members meeting 6 times a week and competing with each other.
2 members placed 1st and 2nd in 2010 FrostFit Games (CrossFit Winnipeg) By the end of our first year we had gone from one person (me) to 9. This year we had members of the Football Team, Women's Hockey as well as members of the general student population join our ranks.
We now have up to 12 people in our area at times and a total membership of close to 20.
We have kept out member base INJURY FREE for over a year.
All coaching is provided FREE for students (you must be a student with a valid facilities pass)
Today I was brought into the Assistant Director of Active Living and given a Cease and Desist. Then I was further cautioned that unless I was a member of the Faculty of Kenisology or a Phys Ed. grad I, "am not permitted to coach in anyway, anyone, period" Only the hired staff could. She then went a step further to say that I was, "like a customer in line at a supermarket who was watching the person at the till have trouble doing their job, and decided it was my place to go and take over"
Please Please CrossFit HQ, help me with this.
I believe in this program, I have seen what it can do for people. I know what it has done for me. I will not roll over and die.
Reference the Felonious munk video.
The lefties demonstrate their lack for tolerance of ideas which ironically is what they are going to complain about when ever CFHQ posts videos like this one.
Keep it up CFHQ there are many of us who appreciate the many aspects of the HQ page, political commentaries included.
anyone know the artist's name from the music in the spealler video?
Please focus on forging elite fitness. Anything else is taking your eye off the ball.
@16
If you would like people to use their very important time to read what you have to say, then please take some time of your own to proofread your message. "their lack for tolerance of ideas" is poor english and doesn't make all that much sense. If you would like to be taken seriously, at least make an effort to coherently communicate your message, or feel free to exercise some self-censorship and leave the talking to those who care enough about what they have to say to communicate effectively.

I don't understand why politics has to come into crossfit. It only has the potential to create negativity. Focus on what you're here to do and escape that bullish*t for once in your day.
Where's Miranda's score!??!
Cameron,
You won't roll over and die; you'll open your own affiliate.
'You have undertaken to cheat me. I won't sue you, for the law is too slow. I will destroy you.' - Cornelius Vanderbilt
#16;Cameron,
Read the book Atlas Shrugged. Then go to your Box you've slaved over, tear it down and ask the members to pony up a couple bucks a month so you can rent a storage unit to work out of near campus. They will pay, the Director wont be able to say anything, you get to run it the way you want and everyone wins.
Great to see some stuff on Joe DeGain. He was one of the coaches at my L1 and has a true talent for what he's doing. Hope you're on here, Joe! You deserve the exposure! 810 CrossFit!!
Hey Cameron, sorry to hear about your situation. Please feel free to take my email address and drop me a line. I am a Bison alumni and live close to the U of M and crossfit out of my garage gym. Hate to see this kinda crap happen to someone just trying to help other athletes who don't necessarily get the greatest help outside of their sports programs.
Always amazes me when someone thinks a weekend cert makes them the leading authority on training.
Focus on crossfit and cut out the reich wing hate machine. Otherwise your gonna lose lots of folks...
Great video from Joe. As a junior affiliate owner I found his video inspiring and right on with his explanation of people who do CF. Joe was one of the staff at my cert. Good dude.
Are you kidding me with the Felonious Monk video?
What's next - Westboro Baptist Church links?
Today tried: Carse, subbing single-unders.
Ran out of time so did 21-18-15 of: 95 pound Squat clean; single-under; 185 pound deadlift; 24" box jump; beginning each round with 50m bear crawl.
29:58.
Joe DeGain was my level 1 cert instructor - great guy, glad to see he is getting some mainsite lovin'!
30/25/22/18/16/15/15/16 = 15
Love the video. Keep up the "right win hate machine" I will stay.
You wont lose the left wing nut jobs because the WODs are free and the left always wants something for nothing.
Please... no more political crap here. If I wanted to read people slobbering over Rand or bitching about Obama, would just go back to Facebook.
#11 Funny how everyone blames Bush alone. Have we forgotten that a lot of this began with the housing market tanking because Clinton decided that everyone should be able to own a house even if they can't afford it. Now go out and do your damn double-unders!
I love how political statements that seem to make sense to me, always seem to upset the lefties...
For those griping about the Felonious Monk video...where is he wrong?
I'm of the firm belief that the conservative bias of this site is tied directly to the diligent work ethic of CrossFitters. Now, go WOD!
Today's WOD: 24
Because of Bush my score was a lowly 12. With the great O as president I should now be able to get at least 25.
Just wanted to give a shout out to "No Pain" Degain. Great to see your video. Hope to see you sooner than later.
@comment #16 - Cameron. Sorry to hear about that situation. I didn't know there was a crossfit club @ the U of M..or rather there "was" a club. Sad to hear stuff like that going on...I wish I would have heard about it sooner, I would have like to have checked it out.
I'm about 6 months into crossfit but due to my current expenses, I just can't afford to attend regularly at crossfit204 or crossfit winnipeg so generally I train at a local "shapes" globo gym which is tough due to the fact they lack the proper equipment for some of the WOD's and I have to make my way through people wanting to use a squat rack as a way to spot their barbell curls..
Have you tried setting up shop at the U of W? I train there a couple days of the week and I know its one of the few gyms that I've been to that actually has bumper plates. It's a small work out facility but I also know that they have an auxillary gym which I think is used for special situations like yours.
Anyways, I never post on the main site but I appreciate someone like yourself helping others. keep your head up and I hope the situation gets better from here!
Johnny,
Get over yourself. While there may have been a grammatical error or two in Cam's message, it was hardly incoherent and certainly was effective in getting his message across. If you've got nothing better to do than troll message boards for typos and grammar errors, do it elsewhere.
As for Cameron, the best way is as suggested by another poster. Offer up your services for a cheap rate and the administration can't say boo. Athletes are allowed to hire personal trainers to supplement the training received by the University. You'll eventually have your own box with a nice business plan that offers affordable rates to students and charges others accordingly.
Good luck. And of course you won't roll over, you're a CrossFitter!!!
Why do we need to put "w/f/s" for links on the message board when the main page links and often HQ content are laced with profanity?

It's funny to me how invested so many people are in which politician screwed it. THEY ALL DID!! Compared to the task of trying to figure how to use the vast coercive power of the state to make things as they think things should be, and to make us live like they want us to live, they are all unqualified and incompetent morons (sorry to you morons for comparing you to politicians).
Felonius' video was funny, but folks can always find a reason to be upset when that's what they are determined to do!

@66 either at roguefitness.com or againfaster.com
Anyone who CrossFits clearly understands that things can never truly be equal. A nice thought...maybe, but pointless. Equality simple does not exsist in the form that people are searching for. Those who put in the most get the most back. In life, in fitness, in everything. Complaining and whining will get you nothing (except laughed at). Focus on yourself and your outlook will improve, no matter who leads the nation. Take some accountability. Move forward. Not back. We were there too...you don't have to recap the last 12 years of politics for us. Thanks though.

Tabata Double-under
The Tabata interval is 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest for 8 intervals.
Tabata score is the least number of reps performed in any of the eight intervals.
score 20reps
SO it got to me with my score today. So I did it again. Last time I hit 16 for a low and 30 twice for a high.
So this time I hit 20 across the board.
so that was 20 reps all 8 sets.
First 3 rounds fast and easy, 5th round had the misses and I only just got the 20, the rest were just burning and fatigue. But feel better for the redo.

I am horrible at double-unders so I did 4 min's straight of just jumping rope. After that I did 3x15 thrusters. I'll get better at double-unders one day. lol.
A lot of liberals complaining about conservatives, but if it was a conservative complaining about a liberal it wouldn't be acceptable? Grow up, this website is privately owned and they're allowed to bias as much as they want. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Everything doesn't have to go your way hypocrites.
we do this as a warm up at my box...
4, I was never able to do more than 2 in a row. Didn't feel like a workout so I did 3, 3 min sets of single under and then 50 pulled up knee raises (hold the pullup, raise the knees to the bar). That did the trick. :)
