What a ridiculous article. The issue is that the economy should be moved away from a finite resource to more sustainable resources, not whether or not oil will run out in the next fifty years. At some point it will run out.
Too many Rest Days! CrossFit's getting soft. Youv'e changed CrossFit. You used to be about the music!
I really wish the main site would cool it with the politics. I'm just here to work out, and my workouts have nothing to do with my political views.
Thats funny I tried this once with finch hose. I couldn't get the hose to not unroll but now after seeing this picture it just gave me an idea!
Fantastic article on oil. I work in the oil fields. Oil is king.
Peak oil translates to the end of cheap oil. Did you know that ALL of the major auto makers are making hybrids with most designing product lines of mostly hybrid models by 2014...and in a recent TV ad, even Porsche proclaimed hybrid technology will be a part of all of their models in the future. Huh...that's sorta odd, ain't it? I mean, hybrids aren't really even selling hot right now, and the few luxury hybrids aren't selling at all, yet...why are auto manufacturers proceeding with building cars that nobody wants?

Peak oil is perhaps the biggest news story in the world since Christ was a corporal, and nobody seems to give a sh*t. If you have Netflix, watch "Crude Awakening" and "Gashole." The latter movie brings light to the urban legend of the 100-mpg car...and it wasn't just a legend, Shell made their own version that got 149 mpg in the '40s. In fact...check this out:

What the hell is going on? Why does an oil company experiment with fuel mileage, if there's no such think as peak oil and we've got plenty of Texas Tea for another thousand years?
Oh, and Saudis are drilling off shore now, the same folks who sit on top of the largest proven crude oil reserves in the history of mankind by a longshot.
Soon, the price of crude oil will begin to inch north, and then gallop skyward by 2020. It's the beginning of the end of oil.
Just wondering if anyone does Crossfit in the Carleton Place, ON, area? Just moved here a few months ago and can't justify the drive into Ottawa to get to any of the boxes there and trying to workout in the local globo gym is proving frustrating. Would love to meet some like minded people!

Good job Coach B, putting his Egoscue training to work! www.egoscue.com
@6 No, that form doesn't look good to me. He needs to squeeze his butt, tighten his abs, open the hips, and look forward.
Does anyone know when the games will be aired this week. The Wed @ 8 has is now a baseball game.
Made up yesterday's wb/ttb/box jump wod today.

The article is not ridiculous, nor is it political. It is a factual account of the history of the theory of peak oil. The facts are what they are.
Evidently some folks find those facts inconvenient to their belief systems, so the facts get swatted away like so many gnats.
Yergin demonstrates that Hubbard was completely ignorant of how economics and human ingenuity affect resource shortages, and how they operated to invalidate substantial elements of his predictions. This same flaw is also found in most malthusian doom-sayers, and is the reason that Julian Simon won his bet with Paul Erlich, noted prophet of doom who's hardly ever been right about anything but continues to get awards and grants.

Relax, be happy - it's great news. Life is better when energy is cheap, especially for the poor of the world, billions of whom do not even have electricity or plumbing and for whom life is therefore poor, nasty brutish and short.

FYI, the Army/USAF SF guys wouldn't count anything but a strict pullup for testing purposes. Pretty sure the Marines are the same. IDK about the Navy.
Did "Angie" today, looked like a good one.

Yergin writes authoritatively, almost as if he and his company were right about their predictions. Unfortunately, they have a fairly pitiful track record: http://home.entouch.net/dmd/cera.htm
