What should I sub for the dumbbell HSC? Bar HSC?

Comment #6 - Posted by: Mike at September 23, 2011 7:11 PM

Neil--I listened to Greg Amundson at his "CrossFit Goal Setting" seminar at Overload earlier this year. He is an amazing speaker and I'm confident that anyone who attends his seminar will walk away armed with many useful tools. The one I referred to is one of a hundred that I could have mentioned.

Rangers Lead The Way!

Comment #13 - Posted by: Russell at September 23, 2011 8:50 PM

The Ranger Creed...

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my Ranger Regiment.

Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier.
Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some.
Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.
Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.
Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor.

I tell you what, I sure hate the WOD video today. It's been over-produced to the point where it's more like a sports highlights reel or pre-game pump-up video than something with real content. We don't even get to see one complete round of the action. We don't even get to see one complete set of anything.

That said, thanks for this brütal workout. Can't wait!

10 Handstand push-ups

57 min 37

I had to sub 24 of the hand stand push ups with 3x regular push ups. Handstand push up sets were:
10, 10, 9, 4, 6, 4, 3
Pull ups were on the slippery skinny work bar and very quickly became singles. Cleans were sets of 5 and easy. Hang squat cleans got easier as I figured out how to do them, sets of 6.

Mr.Ryan, as the spouse of Sgt. Anibal Santiago his rank is the correct information. There is no typo here, yes his picture shows he is a specialist. However, due to him being gone most of the time training or working(which is common for Rangers)it was one of the few pictures I had of him in uniform.
Thank you to all on here who attempted or completed this workout and all of your comments. This was the perfect workout for him as it described him to a "T".

As rx'd, 34:51.

Tougher and longer than expected, this one took its toll on my hands. I was on a pretty good pace in the first few rounds, started to crash a bit in rounds 4 and 5, and pushed hard in the final two rounds. DB squat cleans were probably the worst, broke them into 2 chunks after round 1. Started breaking pullups 12-6 in round 3, and kept that strategy until the last round, when I was starting to tear in a couple spots, so I had to take more breaks. Broke power cleans 5-5 for all. HSPUs unbroken, the lone bright spot today. I will be feeling this one tomorrow.

Happy Hero Friday (WOD 77 of 103)!
