Posted WOD: BEWARE of rope burns. Protect your skin. Seriously, do this.
Posted pic of pullup on rail road overhead signal: that looks dangerous. And awesome.
Now, on the video Fight Gone Bad fundraise beard vs. hair: we must SAVE THAT BEARD!!
(Kristen Clever's shaved hair might be her key to performance. That or hard work.)
yeah, not too many DNFs from 'elites' on the HQ WODs, but this will cause problems. Great one though.
I posess neither a rope, nor the ability to clean and jerk 225 lbs. I'll figure something out though.
Holy hell. I don't have a rope either and subs are just gonna kill me. I also don't think I can C&J 225 either. Might have to scale the latter rounds of C&J.
I can understand that the spirit of the competition is to raise money; but Melissa should be willing to commit to something equal to Eric's shaving his beard. Just coloring it is weak (like betting a four-year old something - they never want to pony up with anything valuable to them).
If Eric has to shave his beard that he has been growing for years, she should have to shave her head. At the very least, give her a high and tight.
QUESTION? What do you do when some scumbag gets his level one cert , then takes the word FIT and inserts the word of his choice in front of it , and sells it at a globo gym as the new latest thing ? Scumbag thief
I love this workout!
Our rope is a bit short (13ft) and I'll have to knock off a few pounds on the clean and jerks (RX womens' weights are 115-125-135-145-155) but it's a whole lotta fun!
I wish my landlord would transplant a tree worthy of hanging a 15' rope from so I could do some of these rope climb WODs. Gonna do "Abbate" instead (lots of C&J with running).
@ Catnog: you contact HQ. That is against the terms of agreement.
Now I don't mean to sound like a troll but the way I'm reading it is that you have to 'Squat Clean' each time when I don't think I recall seeing many of the athletes doing so I assume this is more of a 'Clean and Jerk anyhow' type thing?
the pic: is this a Darwin Award winner wannabe or just an awesome show of skill and guts?
would have been better if a train was coming.
This was just up a couple weeks ago... Why again so soon?
8:54. did it a couple of weeks ago. missed the last 225 jerk at about 7:40 and then had to wait a minute to recover. frustrating. great workout.
I tried to take a photo like this before in the Grand Canyon...I fell off the bridge and into the river...
@ kKotz it's going to be: ground to overhead, make it look like a clean and jerk
Impressive picture, but when HQ keeps posting pictures of cross-fitters posing in dangerous positions to try to get the 'photo of the day,' they are essentially encouraging this type of behavior. I hope no one gets seriously hurt or killed trying for this worthless recognition.
You can donate to FGB on behalf of my beard with the link below. But also more importantly, you will be helping spec ops families, kids and disabled veterans who all deserve our praise and gratitude.

No matter what happens, I'm just glad I could be a part of FGB this year, this has been an awesome experience.
yeah I don't know if i can clean and jerk that much, I'm going to have to scale it down. Plus I don't have a rope to climb so i'll have to do rope or towel pull downs.
#8, THE PIT uses CrossPit for our workout that combine a CrossFit approach to combat training with martial arts specific movements. The main site has tons of history on this and how it came to be. As far as what you're referring to, I've also seen CrossFit gym owners teaching out of other gyms that are not certified gyms where they just use the term "XFit"...Where there's a will to buck the system, there's a way...
#20, I agree
I'm pretty he's not risking his life, he's just confident in his abilities. Crossfit does not promote risking your life but living life to the fullest. I agree this may be dangerous but your perspective is flawed because you weren't there nor do you know the athletes capabilities. @ #20 &23
Garrett Janda - visual proof for Darwin?
I don't have a rope to do the ascent so a an alternative I was going to do towel pull ups, anyone know how many I should do per ascent many thanks.
1 reps for each foot, so 15 for each ascent or atleast that's how I do it.

Rope climbs killed me!
Hey Everyone,
I have a concern that needs a more experienced opinion if anyone is willing to help.
Background on me-
- Male - 5'7" - 170 lbs - around 9-10% body fat
- max strict pull up - 15-17
Here's the concern,
I've been doing crossfit on an off for about 3 years, but have been dedicated for at least the past 1.5 years (winter 10). I have recently learned the butterfly kipping pull up and have been implementing it into my crossfit workouts since this past June.
I have noticed that every workout that I use the butterfly kip pull up results in sore/pain in my biceps the next 1-2 days. The pain is in the bicep and tendon close to my elbow. Trying to diagnose the problem myself, I believe it could be due to eccentric contraction in the bicep on the downward motion of the kip. Or if not that, than maybe it could be a problem of shock-loading my elbows on the downward motion of the kip. It's the second possibility that worries me, and thus why I ask for a second opinion.
If you have experienced my problem, or know a possible diagnosis/solution, I would greatly appreciate any knowledge about the situation.
My email is gstreis@gmail.com
Just tryna achieve elite fitness,

Ronald mcdonald, regardless if we are there or not it's hard to say that this is not dangerous and possibly life threatening.

Pretty disappointed in HQ today.

Chris@35,
What I did after taking four months off after doing Crossfit for 1 1/2 years straight was scaled everything the first few months until my body got use to moving again. You have to ease back into it and hopefully you are around of good group of instructors and people that understand that. Fake it till you make it. I started back March 28th and this morning was my 100th workout back and I squatted 200 lbs. for the strenght portion of our workout. Not bad for 58 years old with a bum heel.
not the sharpest tool in the shed, is he?
Insomnia kept me out of the gym this morning.

I think the 60 pullups the other day wrecked my grip as I had a much harder time holding onto the rope this time compared to early August.
I upped the weights 10 lbs from my last attempt so I'm now 10lbs below womens' RX
13 foot rope, C+J at 105-115-125-135-145

With a little more practice on the jerks, I should be ready for the full weights next time.
Subbed pull ups for rope climbs (cos I'm weak and don't have a rope)

I too don't have a rope, but ill do towel pull-ups and just increase the weight as i go... I LOVE CROSSFIT!

I power cleand the 185lbs for 3 singles, I think that is a pr for me.
I feel good about today, really happy with it all.

Scaled the last round to 205 again. I did'nt do the 225.

Shoulders/Legs are worn out, day 4 of my cycle so:
1RM power clean and jerk, 205 fail 215. No leg power for the jerk, thanks in large part to yesterdays WOD. And the day before. And the day before.
Got it - the 225 at the end, which I did not last time.
It took three attempts, but what the hey - 28 minutes, including getting my head together at the end.

UNBROKEN
Was forced to scale this because of the bicep tear.
Unable to climb, well actually descend from climbing a rope.
So I did:
10 band assisted pull-ups
- 5 C&J (115)
8 pus
- 4 C&J 135
6 pus
- 3 C&J 155
4 pus
- 2 C&J 165
2 pus
- 1 C&J 175
Then went on in the C&J and got up to 195 C&J, which is the most I've C&J'ed since surgery. Close to what I could do before surgery. Slow progression and working closely on form, I think, has helped.
Subbed ring muscle ups 2:1 per rope ascent = 10/8/6/4/2. C&J's at 135/145/155/165/175.

I've never posted a complaint about the pics on the HQ site (topless or otherwise), but this one is just irresponsible. Totally agree with #20.

My jerk was really strong, but my technique for the clean needs work. I was almost reverse curling the weight.
The last rope ascent had me questioning myself and my ability. Great WOD, thank you!
Warmed up with flutter kicks, running, pushups, & pullups. Core workout.
Then WOD: forgot to start the timer, but around 20 min, a lot spent swapping weights. Scaled C&J, last set 195#.
subbed:
5x145 clean and jerk + 10 towel pullups
4x155 + 8
3x165 + 6
2x175 + 4

I agree with #20. I'm pretty disappointed with this picture. Sure its impressive and there's no doubt it takes a lot of skill and strength, but awarding the people who send in these pictures only encourages others to risk injury or even their lives just so that they can be featured on the main-site. I love CrossFit, but I think its a little irresponsible for HQ to be promoting this type of thing. Is this what we should be using functional strength for?

C&J 30, 35, 40, 42.5(f)
Subbed 5 x close grip PU for each ascent.
Gave up around the 25min mark as shoulders were making ominous clicking noises
As rx'd
Got to the rack position on the last C&J and tried twice to finish the jerk. Dropped the bar at 18:18. Did not finish until 21:40.
I was faster to the last C&J by 3 minutes, but finished at about the same time due to the inability to finish the last rep. So frustrating...
I love this wod by the way!
